Mixed feelings about bed fishing ???
I find myself hating wind during the whole year, not just druing the spawn. My favorite baits to fish are weightless plastics and I don't think they work as well when there is a fairly strong wind. Wind kind of forces me to fish other types of bait though so it's not all that bad. :

First trip to BPS and in the Mook's homestate!
Went to the Harrisburg, PA, BPS or the first time. That place is awesome. I have always done business with them online but this is the first time I have seen one in person and it was like heaven. I spent the quickest 40 dollars I have ever spent. If I lived near that place I would be completely broke! My favorite part was their freshwater tank. They had a couple 3-4 pound bass in there and then like a 40-50 pound catfish. P.S. Muddy I was thinking about the muddy saga the whole time I was in PA

Lucky Craft Sammy.... but it has defenitly paid off!!!! :)

Owner vs Gamakatsu
ahh i like them both but tend to lean more to the gammie side. Owners are like 1 dollar more expensive and I'm not sure how much better they are. They are defenitly thicker though.

Looking for a decent 2 piece spinning rod
I would go with the bionic blade. It's the best valued rod and will give you the most bang for your buck. Also take a look at the St. Croix Triumph. Some like it and some don't but I have one and it is defenitly a good rod for the money. Only about 50 bucks for a st croix

Cheers! Thanks Royals! Well I defenitly do miss Bernie but I completely agree with Risskid, he had a great 16 years and he was expected to retire after last year. Anyways tonight we get a look at Petite in the AL! I am hoping he looks good.

KU your Royals played great against the Redsox, congrats! Yanks got the win but pavano looked a little shaky. It was a great monday indeed!

I am always timid to throw white baits
and if you fish a white bait it is easier to see how it is moving on a bed during the spawn. Ish Monroe throws a HUGE white tube during the spawn and says its not about what the fish likes but so he can see it.

First Outing of 2007
Today was my first outing of 2007. I went down to my local pond to see what was up with these fish with my buddy. I have a Denny Braeur jig on one rod and a X-rap XR8 on the other rod. First thing I noticed was a group of bluegill right up near the bank. I then saw a nice bass crusing the bank. Flipped my jig and sightfished him for a little while. He wasn't having it at all. Moved down the bank and started hitting the spots with lots of sunlight figuring that the bass want the warmer water. Then hit my FIRST FISH OF '07. I was pretty psyched. She hit the jig in about 2 feet of water. Went 16 inches and 1.82 pounds. Lol just felt like weighing it even though it was a dink. My buddy nailed a 2.7 and a 2.3 both on huskey jerks. All in all it was a pretty fun first outing and we got 3 fish in 1 hr. 30 min. Oh yeah and to make everything even better... Me and my buddy now have a boat for this year when the ice gets out. As I was walking up I saw a friend of my parents and he fishes every now and then. This guy is real rich and has a nice bass boat and a family boat. So he has this 14 ft. V that he almost never uses down at the docks and offered me and my friend it for the season. It has a 15 hp outboard but no trolling motor. "SWEEET WE'LL TAKE IT!" can't wait for the weather to warm up and get that thing out on the lake. This year is going to be a good year!
