  1. Don't know if I'm a hammer , but I've been called a tool a couple times😃
  2. Best baits for me were ; couple buzzbaits , a few spinnerbaits, frog, jerkbait and those double wides.
  3. Was gonna hit this spot yesterday but got there and it was still 90% skimmed over, back today was wide open fished for a little more than an hour before work only got 1 bite. Weighed in at 4-7 on a jerkbait.
  4. Dunk 'n' shake as needed is how I clear guides of ice
  5. Purina and or anyone else making catfood would be my guess as to whos buying
  6. Got home from work today at 2:30 and considered the stupidity of launching the boat with sunset at 4:17, but figured why not clocks really ticking on this season. Fished 3-4:45, Hit a place where there's a couple spots close to the ramp hoping to find them holed up and biting. Not to be but I did scrounge out 4 bites on a jerkbait with this 1 hitting as I was calling it quits at 430 that weighed 4-7.
  7. 14k for a 16 'inch' 😉 bassboat seems a little steep,but hey its your money😁
  8. Got in about an hour of fishing from shore before heading to work this morning, caught 5 bass all on a jerkbait with the best at 3-13
  9. My favorite color from reaction innovations is magic craw swirl, but big texan killed for me this year, also like trampstamp and hematoma.
  10. Got out this afternoon from about 12 30 -4 30, caught 13 bass ,1 on a bladed jig and 12 on a spinnerbait with the best of the day a 3-15 spinnerbait fish.
  11. Fished this morning 8:30-2 ,boated 7 bass, 4 on a spinnerbait with 1 weighing 4-5,and 3 on a double wide beaver with 1 that weighed 3-14.
  12. OK my simple thoughts. Pro: ability to make any bait you want while on the water. Con: wasting time thinking you can make the perfect 'magic' bait when they probably don't want a spinnerbait. For me ,I primarily have about 7-8 different style spinnerbaits* and during spinnerbait season,(spring/fall)I usually have 2 rigged up and might try a 3rd. If I can't get them to hit one of these then I've got to believe they want something else. Time on the water always has me thinking about new styles of baits but these get built off the water. * been making my own for about 30 years and have tried many different combos over the years to get to these 'favorites'.
  13. @ol'crickety on the rare occasions i play the lottery i usally can't even match 1 number. I guess I waste all my luck on the water.🙂
  14. Got out for a few hours before work today ,caught 8 with a couple good ones , a 5-9 on a spinnerbait and a 3-10 on a double wide beaver.
  15. Got out this morning about 7-12, caught 6 bass,1 each on a spinnerbait and buzzbait, and 4 on a double wide beaver with the best of those weighing 6-4. Heading home got the word I didn't need to pick up my granddaughter after school so I ate, grabbed my other battery and headed back out to another pond. Boated 8 more ,7 on the spinnerbait and 1 on the double wide that weighed 3-9.
  16. 832 for me when going heavy vertical in weeds
  17. I put it back in the package, as you never know when you'll get on a 'hot bite' with that particular bait and eventually that gently used bait is the last in the bag and is in better condition than the torn up ones on the boat floor. Yup been there done that.
  18. Getting old definitely stinks and while I'm not as old as many here (58), I still just go as often as i can on the belief that with a large caffinated beverage and a fistful of advil I can feel 30 again for a few hours, long enough to hopefully catch a few.
  19. Not much going on lately, mostly catching dinks to keepers on spinnerbaits but managed a couple good bites this week, a4-3 on Tues. And a big head no cheese 6-3 today both in a double wide beaver. Thought for sure she was 7+ when she came up thru the weeds. Also a bonus pic of a 3-2 smallie from a week and a half ago up in maine.
  20. Got out today about 7:30 to 12, caught 14 bass, 1 on a buzzbait, 2 on a frog and 11 on a double wide beaver with 5 of those being decent ones weighing 4-3, 4-2, 3-9, 3-7and 3-1. I don't know how many times I can go back to the well before It runs dry but so long as the fish are buried up.in those weeds I'm gonna keep.trying to clonk'em on the noggin.
  21. Add me to the list of those that never caught a double. I did once have an almost 5 lb. Smallie inhale a 12ish inch pickeral I was reeling in but couldn't re set the hook into it. Not sure if tht would've counted as a double anyway.?,
  22. @ol'crickety if anyone wants to see mine from yesterday they could just blip on over to the latest pics thread. But since you asked I went into the 'archives'?, and pulled one up from 2017. These 5 went 22-02.
  23. @ol'crickety looking at all your posts over the last year or 2 ,I'd say you've done it 20+ times easily??,
  24. I've had a million spinnerbaits break like this. sometimes i get the top half back and sometimes the bottom.,but I don't think I've ever brought back 1/2 a bait with a fish still on. That's pretty impressive.
  25. Was able to get out today without any time or weather constraints, fishing 7:30-2:30. caught 21 bass all on a double wide beaver with 6 nice ones weighing, 5-3, 4-8, 4-7, 3-10, 3-7,and 3-3 for I think 21-3 for those top 5, my 1st 5/20 day in a few years. Here's pics of those 5.
