  1. Could also be caused by brake setting soff some too. Id guess its a lil to tight and needs loosening a fuzz. And by fuzz i mean just barely turn it and try a cast. Mine do that some when i change lure weights and not adjust brake
  2. I have seen it done and it is a lot of time in prepwork and such like any good paint job. Most who have done it reccomend urethane paint and automotive clear coat to keep the thicknesses down.
  3. Why wait for a windy day? They are handy any day. I havebused them for shooting piers, sight fishing or just really working a grass bed or other area. Or just to not worry about boat moving around while retying a lure or getting somethingnoutbof a storage box. More you get used tobthem the handier younrealize they are.
  4. Nothing is theft proof but ice tried to make mine hard enough they move to the next guys. I put my nall on the hitch with an impact gun cranked up and a pipe wrench. Then put a few tack welds on the base. Hitch is locked to truck receiver and i also have a masterlock on trailer with as lil exposed of the pin possible. On trips when i disconnect for nite i have a ball replacer lock i put on as well. It may be overkill but spending $100 on premium locks and all once is an investment well spent to me.
  5. I prefer the "free" method over the tube over eye method, especially on buzzbaits. I like the stinger hook to have some flexability to move as well as hang a bit lower in water. I will peg it so to speak when throwing into grass or thick cover. If im over riprap especially i let it swing free. I get my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits custom made forbme by a coworker and i have him leave a few strands of the skirt long to work as a bit of a trailer as well as help hide the stinger hook.
  6. Id worry more about a hook catching the liner.......
  7. I go to wallyworld for very few things fishing wise. Mostly just stuff for other than bass like bream n crappie. Bass gear acadamy is the place to go. Better prices and huge selection. I order from them online as well. Shipping is free after $25 right now. Btw. Those like me who like the columbia pfg gear ahould check out their magellan line. I have both brand shirts and only diffrence i can feel is in my wallet....
  8. Are you positive its a reel problem? Trying to use the wrong rod power for lure weight will do that as well no matter what quality reel. Could also be bad/old line. May even be as simple as missing an eye on the rod while stringing it up. Its easy to do especially with the trend of micro eyes nowdays.
  9. I agree. I think itndepends on the lake, season, and where the fish are. If they are up shallower it really isnt an issue. Its when the fish are deeper is when the imaging shines. Finding which ledge, hump, timber, or other deeper structure they are on is much easier with imaging when you learn how to read it well.
  10. Its all personal preference really. Some love floro others only use braid. If you already have braid on your old combo, strip 10' of floro off the new one and try the leader. You already know how it throws and feels with striaght floro so it will give you a good true comparison at minimal cost. Floro and braid have their own strengths and weaknesses. I like floro for cranks spinners and worm/jigs, but its useless for topwater. I use braid for frogs, topwater, and spinning gear. I do use a braid/floro leader on my senko setup since it is a spinning rod. Its my only one though since im not a fan of all the extra knots, mostly since i throw into tons of junk and break off or retie fairly regular. It is a more finicky line overall though. Kvd line conditioner is a big help. I apply it midway and immedietly after respooling. Then again each nite before i go again. I still have to respool more often though with it though, especially if i have backlash issues which lead to weakspots deeper spool.
  11. One more thing to consider on using heavier weight floro leader is why it happens with me alot. My floro leader supply is nothing but end of new spools where i had some line left after filling rod. Braid will last me a long time if im using leaders but i go through floro pretty regular. On my spinning gear 10 or 15 baid is normal and floro i use is 12 or 17 mostly. On the origional post i have not personally had a problem with a knot failure unless i tied it improperly and it shows quick. I also have not had one last several days like you mention either. Floro for me is used more for durability and resistance to cutting over line visibilty ksince i fish more stained water. Being as such i check it constantly for frays knicks and such and end up retying a new leader more often.
  12. X2 One thing to consider as well on it is how much room do you have up front? Ours is an older bass boat and not near as wide as the norm now. A bigger seat gets in the way some, especially when you have it, rods, TM pedal, electronics, etc... I rarely ever find myself actally sitting one one, usually more just leaning on it for stability. Thats why alot of folks prefer the curve. I myself am looking at flushmounting the foot pedal for the TM and having just the pedastal in the back if i need it for rough water days since the top mounted pedal is why i feel i need the seat the most. It puts me off balance to use it.
  13. My budget alone helps keep it at bay pretty well. My budget normally limits me to around $50/month for fishing gear. It forces me to really think on if i really need a new rod or reel since i have to wait a bit to get one. I normally stick with replenishing items i already have and use, my go to and confidence stuff. I dont venture out to new items anymore unless its something a trusted better fisherman shows me, not a sponsored guy either.
  14. Norman lil n in spring craw by far has been my best. Followed by a tex rig 7" red worm
  15. http://www.al.com/news/anniston-gadsden/index.ssf/2015/07/quite_a_catch_4_stolen_vehicle.html Its suprising that they were just now found or reported. That is a popular area to fish. Shows that side and down imaging are pretty potent at showing structure once you are familiar with them though....
  16. Winter time is usually my muck boots and summer is flip flops. In between its usually just my everyday sneakers.
  17. Yea. I like doing it with pacas or baby pacas.
  18. Ive not had a problem with it but i also am not set in stone on a set number up or down. For larger lines i may only use 4 or 5 wraps. Smaller lines i increase the wraps. I do this with any knot though wether its a albright leader or a hook knot. Only exception is my shaw grigsby knot i use for floro on hooks. Its always 3 wraps. Every knot also gets slobbered on good too before i begin to pull. Gotta wet those knots beforehand especially on floro
  19. If you plan to fish around riprap or similar structured be prepared to lose some lures. Braid gets cut and knicked too wasy for my taste and is much harder to notice when it happens. I prefer abrazx for cranks or sufix seige mono.
  20. Its an old shakespeare wondertroll 606. Best i can tell its about 12 amps on high
  21. Btw. The only problem with the battery weight is me carrying it from the truck to the lake.
  22. There is no other weight to save. Its me, battery, clamp on TM, depthfinder, and a couple rods and a walmart sack with a few extra worms or lures. I use it 2-3 times a year max. Its 8' long and fits in the bed of my frontier with room on the sides between the wheel wells. The depthfinder is an old 'bird i took off bass boat when i upgraded it. I only use tm to move to around from spot to spot on a farm pond. Its not for use on moving water or big lakes. I motor over to a spot and drop a gallon jug of sand as an anchor. I just dont want to spend $90 on a battery to get 8 or 9 uses out of it before age gets it. It stays in my barn on a trickle charger rest of year.
  23. Its one of my go to confidence colors. Cant speak on fl tannic waters but it works well for me here in spring fed clear water as well as the muddy coosa. It was one of the colors i grabbed first when i picked up some senkos to begin learning to use.
  24. Im having to replace the deep cycle battery on my tm for my 8' flatbottom. Its an old one that was in my bass boat i kept when i replaced them last. Im looking at smaller, cheaper, and lighter options since i dont use it very often. Im looking at small batteries like this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A82A3RK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1436469980&sr=8-2&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011π=AC_SX200_QL40&keywords=deep+cycle+battery&dpPl=1&dpID=412Hdo%2BNZ%2BL&ref=plSrch for it. Would only be runnning an old tm on occasion and a pirana depth finder. It looks like basicly one for an alarm system or power weels battery. Anyone have an idea on if this is worth it or should i bite the bullet and spend $90 on a regular deep cycle?
