BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
This would be a welcome rule change for some. https://majorleaguefishing.com/featured/bass-pro-tour-enacts-variable-minimum-weight-for-2020/

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
That's why I think the minimum should be based on the body of water. There can be plenty of of 2 pound fish caught on certain bodies of water. Maybe 1 or 1.5 is more suitable for other bodies of water.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
Wouldn't increasing the minimum weigh solve a lot of issues. In southern locations it could be 3lbs and in northern locations it could be 2lbs or something like that. As for learning from them I feel I already do. I can see what lure they are using, I have seen them describe what they are doing while fishing and when they are sitting during a penalty, I've seen them explain where they plan to fish and how they break down a lake. I watch/listen to the live stream though, I'm not sure who everyone else watches it.

Consistentcy and the 5 fish format
If anyone is interested in the show they will DVR it. I've been recording the MLF events for years already.

2 person kayak options?
I highly recommend the Nucanoe Frontier 12. You can rig it to fish by yourself and you can add a second seat to go tandem on it. I take my daughter with me occasionally and it's great. Probably the most versatile kayak there is.

Looking for a fish finder for my new 2019 Hobie PA14
I bought myself a new fish finder for Christmas and decided on the Garmin 73sv after looking the last few years. I haven't used it on the water yet but I've enjoyed messing around with it in my garage. The touch screen is nice and everything is easy to use. I like how the unit pops out of the mount easy so it can be stored without messing with unhooking any cables. The compatibility with Panotpics was also a selling feature for me in case I decide to upgrade to it some day. After looking for a long time I was able to find a brand new unit on eBay for $469 and also got 10%. After tax I think I spent a total of about $449 on it. Pretty sweet deal.

2020 KBF National @ Guntersville
I've qualified the last two years but last year at Shreveport was the only time I went. It was an awesome experience. I wasn't able to qualify this year though. Shreveport had multiple bodies of water so it helped to spread people out more but there were still plenty of people at each launch. It never seemed to be too big of an issue. I like to launch out of the way and not right on the ramp so I don't have to bother with others. Once I was on the water I was never around that many people. Coming from Iowa it was such a great experience seeing an area like Caddo Lake. The fishing was tough but there were a lot of big bass caught. I got down there on Monday early enough to fish that afternoon and then practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it's a good idea to talk to as many anglers as you can while there. You can gather a lot of info from others. Enjoy the experience!

What do you have to force yourself to do in 2020?
Being a kayak tourney fisherman I need to force myself to make a move when the bite slows down and I'm struggling. I really struggle with taking the time to move to a new location that will take time to get to and I end up wasting time in an area that isn't producing fish. It's so hard to decide on giving up time fishing to paddle far or even load up and move to a new spot but I think it has to be done sometimes. It's all about time management when fishing a kayak tourney.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
I've seen a lot of people say this but I just don't feel the same way. I loved it it and found it very entertaining. I enjoy seeing them catch a lot of fish. I know it's going to get better each year too.

Looking for a Wisconsin Lake recommendation
You can't go wrong with the Mississippi River if you want active bass fishing. You can focus on largemouth or smallmouth. You can fish near the main channel, wing dams, sloughs, back waters, rock piles, rocky shores, sand bars, trees and it's a frog fishing mecca. There are a lot of great places to stay along the river as well. You can rent a cabin or do an Airbnb. It's an awesome area.

Looking for a Wisconsin Lake recommendation
If you head up to Northern WI you'll find plenty of lakes to fish. Just find a cabin to rent up there and you can fish a couple different lakes each day. It's a beautiful area, I recommend it.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
I already like the format but I see why they would try and make adjustments to appease to the whiners out there. I like the new rules they are going to put in place in order to get anglers to focus on catching some large ones. I would be fine with them raising the minimum weight from 1 pounds to something like 2 pounds. I hope they don't put a limit on the amount of fish that count. I really enjoy seeing them catch a lot of fish. If someone is watching the show and isn't learning anything from them then I doubt they are paying much attention. I pay attention to where they are fishing, how they are fishing it, what lures they are using and listen to what they have to say. We already have a typical 5 fish tourney series to watch. What's wrong with watching something that's different but in the same sport? It's fishing, try and enjoy it.

What lures did you lose the most in 2019?
Ned rigs in along rocky shores. Second most would be chatterbaits.

Another MLFLW Rant
It's called marketing. If they were not saying anything then they wouldn't be doing their jobs. They are a business just like anything else. It's their job to create a brand and to get people interested in it.

Consistentcy and the 5 fish format
This is what I really love about the MLF format. It's not just about catching fish, it's about strategy. It's not that the 5 fish tourneys don't involve strategy too, it's that MLF requires a completely different kind of strategy and I really enjoy that. Since I fish kayak tourneys I have to go about constructing my strategy completely different from how I would when fishing a boat tourney with a partner. The game planning and figuring out a strategy are all part of the enjoyment of fishing for me. It's why I like watching the both the Elite series and MLF formats. I learn a lot from both. I think there are way too many people that are too stubborn and don't like change.

I bought the KA-BAR K2 for a survival knife a few years ago. It's a pretty solid knife.

I haven't watched the show on TV but that's because I watched all of them live. I really enjoy the live format online, it's great.

Kayak clothing
I always leave my scupper plugs in. During the summer I wear a long sleeve sun shirt, sun pants and water proof shoes. I also wear a baseball hat and either have a hood on my shirt or wear a neck gaiter. Almost forgot, I will wear sun gloves as well. I don't mess around when it comes to getting sun burnt or skin cancer. When it's colder I usually just wear jeans and a sweatshirt. Sometimes I'll where my chest waders to make sure I stay dry and so I can get in the water if need be. I make sure to bring extra clothes to change into in case I fall in. Try to always plan for the worse.

BTL?
I was wondering why they weren't on also. I didn't know that Mark was in the hospital. I believe Matt has been in Florida all week and was suppose to join through Skype from down there.

Swindle and Palaniuk coming back to BASS
So they lost Palaniuk and Swindle but gained Thrift and Dudley. Thrift is a huge addition.

Scott Martin just announced he's going to B.A.S.S
Hmmm... So, they invited him after that video? I know he said it was later when he got the invite.

Scott Martin just announced he's going to B.A.S.S
He was invited to the MLF and he turned it down. I don't know why there's this rumor that he didn't get invited and that he's upset about it. *I just noticed someone else mentioned this as well.
