  1. You can start by fishing shallow to see if they're still there but if you don't find them I would head out to some transition spots. Find the points and some drop offs as the bass may be holding out there until things warm back up.
  2. This is a good reminder to carefully read the rules before you enter or fish in any tourney. I believe the no trolling in bass tourneys start with B.A.S.S.
  3. I tried the Ned rig a few times for a couple years and had no luck with it. I didn't understand what the big deal was. Last year was the year of the Ned for me. I finally figured out how to fish it and it caught at least half of all my fish last year. When I was struggling in tourneys I knew I could get a limit by using the Ned rig.
  4. I'm going to try and do some troubleshooting on my own to see if I can get it to work. If I can't get it to work I'll contact Garmin.
  5. I took my kayak out for the first time this year two weeks ago and used my new Garmin 73sv for the first time as well. I ended up flipping and the untit got submerged for about 20 minutes. It was still working after I got it out of the water but after sitting in my garage for two weeks it no longer powers on. I'm assuming Garmin won't cover that under warranty. Can I get the unit fixed or am I just SOL?
  6. This is from the BASS Nation Kayak Series rules: Trolling as a method of fishing is NOT allowed. Long-lining and drifting with current/wind are allowed. This is from the Hobie BOS rules: Trolling as a method of fishing is NOT allowed. Long-lining and drifting with current/wind are allowed. Trolling is defined as directly using the vessel’s propulsion to present a lure. KBF allows trolling in their tourneys. Local trails will vary with their rules on trolling.
  7. Amazon has some good prices on the Plano Edge boxes right now. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=plano+edge&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
  8. They are closing in Iowa. The fishing barges on the Mississippi River are also closing down.
  9. Have you looked at a parts schematic to make sure you put everything back in the right order. I have to do that a lot of times.
  10. It depends on what club or series you are fishing in. Each one determines their own rules. I think you can in KBF but I don't think you can in the Hobie Series or BASS Series. Local clubs will vary as well.
  11. Academy has some pretty good deals going on right now. They have 25% off of combos and line among other things.
  12. I believe everything is still open for the most part in Iowa but they canceled all tourneys through the end of April.
  13. I'm taking mine out this afternoon.
  14. I met him two years ago fishing a KBF Open at La Crosse. I was first and he was second after day one.
  15. Walmart has the Fuego for a good price right now. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Daiwa-Fuego-CT-8-1-1-Right-Hand-Baitcast-Fishing-Reel-FGCT100XS/154969051
  16. I have no idea how they are in business. They have the worst reputation I've ever seen yet somehow are able to continue selling product they don't deliver.
  17. The first ever BASS kayak tourney starts tomorrow morning to kick off the Classic. If anyone wants to follow along here's a link to the leader board. http://results.tourneyx.com/standings/6820?page=tournament&slug=logan-martin-lake-al-huk-b-a-s-s-nation-tournament Live leader board https://live.tourneyx.com/?id=6820
  18. Do your research. Reading books like Lunker Lore can help you gain a better understanding of how fishing for big bass is different than catching numbers. It's a different strategy.
  19. I listened to Ike's book on Audible while driving to a tourney. He narrated it and it was very enjoyable. I think more people would like him more if they read his book and watched his Ike live shows. He's a pretty awesome guy, just really annoying when he catches fish, lol.
  20. I already received my refund for the trolling motor. I'm disappointed but that's about it. Thought I got lucky for a little bit, oh well.
  21. That's true. I don't feel bad doing it with a large company like BassPro though. I don't like that they were able to buy Cabelas. It doesn't really bother me that they canceled it but I'm going to take advantage of something if I can when it comes to companies like them. I'd never do it with a small business.
  22. I got the email last night as well. It sucks but I knew it was going to happen. They say on their site that they have the right to do so. I looked it up and it's perfectly legal for them to do it since it's a mistaken price. I still think it sucks and I let them know it. I would have to make it up to my customers in my business or risk losing them.
  23. I recommend the Pelican Catch 120. It's the kayak I started with and is pretty good for the price.
  24. Here in Iowa a creek is pronounced crick.
  25. Hammer handle or cigar is a really small northern pike. A derp is a fish with it's upper lip missing. Bronzeback for smallmouths. Fresh water drum are called sheephead in my area. Slaunch donkey is a huge bass.
