  1. My best was a 4lbs 8oz on the Sauk River in MN.
  2. I just saw the ads for their black Friday sale too. Never heard of them for reels before. Haven't been able to find much info on them either.
  3. Didn't Ott need a little help from Poche on where to fish though?
  4. I'm very excited for this. To be a kayak fisherman and be able to fish in a BASS event is a pretty big deal. I've already registered for the La Crosse tourney.
  5. Buy a Firestick for all of your TVs when they go on sale on Amazon.
  6. You can watch a lot of the pro events streamed live on Facebook as well. FLW tourneys are usually streamed that way. When the BPT tourneys are live they can be seen on the MLF website. BASS has their tourneys live on their website as well.
  7. We've all had days like that but have any of us been able to do it in the same way and conditions that they do?
  8. FishUSA has 20% off on hard baits today. Discount shows in your cart. https://www.fishusa.com/Fishing/Lures-Bait/Hard-Baits?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Hard+Baits&utm_content=11/05/2019&utm_campaign=2019.11.05+AM&_bta_tid=02735167601401964119075097203391530240853764077458824033608808129709246981088820280574732362541903777889544
  9. I've been using these now and I really like them.
  10. Out of those two I would use the 3/8 oz. I only use the 1/2 oz. regardless of how deep the water is though.
  11. Never really caught many smallmouth up there over the years but we never focused on them. Lots of largemouth and northerns.
  12. Will be staying on Osakis but we will fish about a dozen different lakes in the area. Lobster, Irene, Mary, Carlos, Brophy, Crooked and Oscar are a few I can think of that I've all fished. Didn't go there last year but two years ago the fishing was fantastic. Hoping it will be great again this year.
  13. Having a fishing kayak and having friends with boats is the best way to go. Let them worry about all the costs and responsibility. The kayak allows you to go fishing whenever you want and you can fish with a buddy on their boat so you can get your fix in if needed. Perfect.
  14. I'm heading up to the Alexandria are for a fishing trip Next week, how's the bass fishing going? Sounds like it's been pretty tough in the south and it's been tough here in Iowa. Hoping they are transitioned over to the fall bite now.
  15. One reason is because it's fun to get new stuff that you like. Another reason is to take advantage of sales because you know you'll use those lures eventually. Another reason is just so you have whatever you'd think you'd need on hand.
  16. When the bite gets tough I usually have luck with the Ned rig. I like to alternate between that and a wacky rig. If that doesn't work then I'm trying all kinds of different strategies. I'll try shallow water, deep water, wood, rocks, bright lures, dark lures, fast retrieve, slow retrieve, steady retrieve, erratic retrieve, finesse, top water... You get the point. Keep trying until something works and if it doesn't work then it just isn't meant to be that day.
  17. I don't know how anyone could not enjoy watching this event. This has been awesome. These guys are hammering the bass and they all seem to be great quality. I can't believe how many bass over 2 pounds they have been catching up there. The river has been fishing great right now. Birge has been crushing it on the topwater bite. Best thing about the river is the diversity of fishing. Deep, shallow, topwater, spinner, chatterbait, flipping, current, backwater, bridges, docks, rocks, trees, largemouth and smallmouth. It's got everything!
  18. I wish I was up there watching from the water. It's only a two hour drive but I have too much going on already. At least I can listen and watch on my computer at work this week.
  19. I just flipped my kayak towards the end of a tourney Saturday. Had 6 of my 8 rods go under. I spent a good hour finding 5 of those 6 that went under. I felt very lucky to find that many back. I also lost my net and sunglasses with that rod. Could've been much worse.
  20. If I don't break my line I can use the same Z-Man plastics for a couple outings and catch a lot of fish. I know I've caught close to 50 fish on one TRD.
  21. Just ordered a Baby Bull Shad. Hoping it can help catch me some big ones.
  22. I wear the NRS Chinook and love it. As much as I like how much cooler the inflatables are I just don't trust them. I've heard too many stories from people who have fallen in and they did not inflate. What's the point if it may not inflate? The Chinook can get hot when it's really warm out but overall it's comfortable and useful with it's pockets and attachments.
  23. What I don't get is why things like this bother people. I think it's more of a you problem than it is a problem with the people you don't like. Let them do their thing and you do your thing. No reason to let silly things like successful YouTubers bother you.
  24. I just fished a tourney on pools 9 & 10 on the Mississippi River and there were bass spawning all over the place. It's crazy how late they are still spawning. I also talked to a few different guys who were catching bass that were still spawning. I've never seen it this late before.
  25. It's going to be personal preference. I know some people that buy rods with shorter handles that like them and I know guys that don't like them. All of my rods are normal length and there are times that the handle can get caught on my life jacket but I like the leverage I get with that length of handle. All you can do is try out different lengths and see what you like the best.
