  1. If the did make it a rule that pond bass where not allowed in the record books, this would create alot of problems, IMO. for instance, when does a body of water cross the line between a pond and lake? 10 acres? 20? 50? What if a world record bass was cought in a pond that was usualy .5 acre under the pond size, but was flooded so it was over the pond size and tec considered a lake? just some thoughts....
  2. This is all JMHO, but...... 1. Frogs dont paddle. I have watched tons of frogs swim away while i go frog hunting. They all make quick, short, jerky movments in the water. They pull their legs in, then push them out quickly, making them dart forward. This type of action is much easier to do when useing a floating frog. Just rapidly jerk-stop-jerk-stop-jerk-stop. The YUM Buzzfrog probaly looks more like a baitfish than a frog when steadily retreiving, bumping along the bottom, or even running across the surface. 2. If your bait is turning around on its side, it causes mono to twist. If your reeling in your line and it is being twisted, your line will be spooled onto the reel and keep its twisted form. This cuases huge line tangles, knots, and make backlashing 50 times worse. just my humble .02
  3. Okuma makes great strong spinning reels with slik smooth drags, but the VS is a little heavy for its size. If your more concerend about weight then you might not want the VS, but i hear remarkable things about it's dual drag. Its pretty nicely priced for what it is.
  4. Well, since i've never been on a boat with a motor, when i'm not bank beating i'm paddling from structure to structure. It takes a while to paddle anywhere, so i usualy fish each spot for a long time. If i havn't cought anything from that spot for a half-a-hour then i move on. When bank beating, i work my way from spot to spot, fishing each place throughly. I cast in the same spot twice, then cast again 5ft to the side, cast there again, then cast another 5ft to the side, intill i have covered all the water in that area. If i catch a fish or get a hit, i cast there again intill it becomes inactive. After that i move to the next spot, and repeat. So to answer the poll question, i'm more of a sit and wait guy. If i've covered all the water and havnt gotten anything, then i'll move on. I've cought bass after casting more than 5 times in the exact spot before getting them to hit.
  5. ReelMech Does that cork sealer give the handle a glossy plastic-ish feel to it? Or does the cork just soak in in and keep its cork texture? Also, about how much handle will one of those 2oz bottles cover? Thanks Matt
  6. Aw, you left the best one out. The Excailber Super Spook Jr. Its cheap, got great detail, and is amazingly easy to walk the dog with. With a hook upgrade, it is probaly the best spook out there.
  7. Ah LBH you've got it easy. Last night my younger sister had 6 friends sleep over in the bedroom next to mine. I didnt get a wink of sleep intill 2:30am. I dont know what they where doing, but it sounded like they where playing pillowfight, who-can-scream-the-loudest and jump-rope all at the same time. Then they woke me up at 7am running through the upstairs playing "hide-n-seek tag" Gosh. I need to catch up on my beauty sleep. I think the best thing for bolth our situations is a nice long nap. If you sleep for 2 hours in a cold room with sunlight coming through a window on your face, all bundled up, it will drain your head cold out. Atleast that always works for me. Of course, a few pills and a warm cup of hot coco wont hurt anything eather. Get well soon Matt
  8. That sounds like it would be great, but it would probaly be hard to pull off. If it could be done i think it would be awsome. Being able to see where fish where cought and when at sertain lakes would be really helpful. Sorry for being off topic, but i dont think this is worth making another thread for: The other day i was thinking how cool it would be if there was a weekly live auction in the Flea Market board. Like, a few members could have stuff they wanted to sell, and every week at a set time one of the mods would open a live chat in the Flea Market and auction them off. the highest bidder for a item would then contact the seller via PM. If for some reason the highest bidder failed to come through, then the 2nd highest bidder could buy it. I know this also would be hard to too, but it is just a thought.
  9. All i have to say is that anyone who give comics like this.... http://www.consumerfreedom.com/downloads/reference/docs/040726_mommykills.pdf ...to kids becuase their mother wears fur, are cowardly sick people who have no consience of "ethical treatment" to anything. JM.20
  10. I also like mine with 2 wheels. Only with out motors. Check out this bad boy: She gets 34 miles to a peautbutter and jelly sandwich. To bad those bikes cost $20,000..... Maybe someday i'll be able to afford it without going in to debt too much.
  11. Here are two i made up: SCAOKBILTHTS: Spitting coffee all over keyboard becusae i'm laughing to hard too swallow. ;D FORL: Falling off roof laughing some others: BRB: be right back JMHO: just my humble opinion GTG: got to go fishing: BC: Baitcast LP: Low Profile WS: Widespool SPN: Spinning NJ: Bad place to fish
  12. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D those are pretty funny. the earthquake one was the best.
  13. Exaliber Super Spook Jr. easist walk the dogger i've used, great detail, and cheap too.
  14. Here is another close call. That old guy just did a little tap dance and the car missed him. I would have soiled myself.
  15. hmmmmm really? May I present exibit A: http://www.basslurereviews.com/bassforums/members/bucketmouthangler13.html busted! ;D LOL i signed up there, but havnt visited in ages. No offense to their staff, but BassResource.com is all the fishing forums i need.
  16. Well, lets see now...in a tourny, I think you would be odd man out. I would love to weigh in three two pound fish to your single four pound fish. If you win the lunker money, it will still be a lot less than first place in the tournament. I am a numbers kind of guy, I like to stay busy when I am on the water. See you on tournament day I dont fish tournies. I would if i was old enough, but i'm not. If fish for fun, for the thrill of feeling your drag pull out. For the exitement when your rod tries to pull from your hands and when a lunker leaps out of the water. I fish for the biggest bass in the lake, no less. Sure, catching a 2lber is fun. But catching a big one is beond fun. If I ever fish tourneys, then i will be fishing for money, not fun. In this case three 2lbers are better than two 4lbers. But when i'm just fishing for the fun of it, I cast each cast expecting my personal best, not a ounce less. I've said it before, and i'll say it a million times more. Go big or go home. Matt
  17. This is the only place I visit. Home sweet home you know. And this isn't just a fishing forum, with the Muddyman this is really a fishing/humor forum.
  18. Welcome to the forums and awsome bass! Acording to the seccond picture it is around 21", thats around 5lbs in my book. What a lunker, and one of your firsts too! Congrats, i bet you got bit by the bass bug big time!
  19. I agree with basspro and Triton. I wasnt at all inpressed with the YUM buzzfrog. They roll over and dont get that great of a action. I think this is becuase YUM tried to make a surface and shallow lure in one bait. The buzzfrog sinks to fast to run slow on the top, but doesnt really get enough leg action under the surface. Probaly the best way to fish this bait is with a weighted hook along the bottom. JMHO
  20. IMHO colors matter, details dont. What the lures does is more inportant that how it looks. For cranks i like craw, shad, crome w/blue, chartruse and bluegill. For spinnerbaits black, chart. or white. For buzzbaits black and chart. and for soft plastics: anything.
  21. If you want to release it into the wild when it is bigger i think it is inportant to feed it live food. If not then it might loose it's instinct to kill. And if i where you i would tag it opon release. Then maybe some day someone will catch it and be able to contact you about its size, weight, and ext. Sounds like a cool project. What are you going to name him?

Awsome crank! Amazing paint job. I guess that is the type of crank that is best using the "Burn" retreive, eh?
  23. Like a few others here i cought my 5.2lb LM bass on a buzzbait. A 1/2oz Booyah black w/clacker at 2:30ish pm on Saterday, July 8th of this year. I was running it over some sunken logs. Sunny weather, Temp. around 85* with no wind. It was my 4th cast. I was fishing from the bank. About half way through my retrieve (i was running it med. fast) i saw a wake right behind my buzzbait. I couldn't tell if it was a big fish or my buzzbait, so i stoped my retrieve for an split seccond and KA-BOOM there was a huge explosion on my lure. He was about 20yrds out when he hit, and jumped 2 times before i landed him. Fun stuff. Picture of fish: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g9/catfishguy/bassicon2.jpg I've done great with the buzzbait. I got a 4lber in later july on the same type of buzz, and bunches of 3lbs throughout the summer. IMHO Booyah makes the best buzzbait, the clacker really makes the big mama bass mad. Matt
  24. I keep my stuff in the garage during the warm months. My garage stays cool, proably never getting over 90 degrees. Not enough to harm anything. But during the cold months when i'm hardly ever using my fishing stuff, i keep it in my room. (i keep it by my bed and sleep with one eye open) I doubt the cold would harm my rods or reels, I just dont want anything to scrach or break them. Our garage is pretty messy, and i wouldnt want a rod to fall over then get stomped on. 'Cuss then I'd have to kill the person who broke it. Just remember: when it comes to fishing rods, safty first.
  25. Welcome Aboard! Careful though. There are these two members that you should watch out for. I heard from a reliable source that their names are The Muddyman and Avid. If you dont watch what your read they will have you rolling on the floor laughing and making your pee or pants or somthing. We all die laughing from their posts. Just giving you a heads up. (lol keep at it muddy and avid) Matt
