spots & largemouth
my home water (Lake Norman) here in NC has undergone a changeover from all largemouth to mostly spotted bass with some largemouth remaining. we'll go thru periods where we catch all spots, and lots of them, especially during the spawn and early post spawn. now that the water has warmed into the low 80's they appear to have schooled up off shore. thus we are catching some largemouth along with some spots. it has taken some getting used to in terms of what "normal" is anymore. the bigger worms and lizards (that i used to throw) now have been replaced with smaller offerings. dont get me wrong, the fishing has vastly improved since the spot was introduced here but i do miss my beloved "silver backs".

Fishermans block
agree with the boat idea. my first boat was a small johnny with a trolling motor, battery and an old school hundred dollar Eagle depth finder. once i discovered structure, all i needed was a bag of purple worms and some good hooks. you can do this!

Beat the heat!
another vote for night fishing when it gets hot and humid but you gotta know your water well enough to not get lost or have an accident. around here, several times a summer, somebody hits a dock or a bridge or somebody else. we try to avoid long runs and fish areas where we can "hide" from the drunks in their bow riders. i love lit-up docks and structure around channel markers and islands. wear your life jacket!

that is old school right there. when i was a kid i'd wake a spinner called a Shyster(sp?), right down the shoreline. i can still recall the boils that ensued whenever a pond bass inhaled that thing. i liked the silver blade w/ white body/black dots/white feather tail. also the gold/yellow combo. good stuff.- Memorial Day Murph
squats and lunges are the devil.- Gander Mountain Flouro carbon
i got a spool of the 12 lb test the other day myself and put it to use this morning. first off, it's a little fatter (0.013") than what i'm used to but it casts ok on my revo rigged with a 3/16 bullet and plastic and did not seem "wirey" but softish. although it is made by Sunline the line diameter is slightly fatter than both the shooter and the super fluoro for the same pound test. i did have some fraying on stumps and brush but nothing out of the ordinary. senstivity was good. my palomar knots held up too. so far i like the line.- SNAKES !!!!!!

my wife said that i needed my head examined. i told her she was crazy.- Culprit Plastic Worms..
fire and ice, red shad, and crawdad (brown w/gold belly) are my favorite Culprit worms. the late Bryan Kerchal won a BMC on High Rock Lake throwing the red shad.- SNAKES !!!!!!
a pair of good boots- Summer Time Lure

i'm thinking a 3/0 max for a worm that size. Gamakatsu screw lock- Best summer bass bait
worm- Where are the females?
scaleface keeps them buried in his back yard, tightly sealed in an old mayonaise jar.- Old school BPS flyer
good grief i think i still have a couple of those life vests in the basement somewhere- 21 May Armed Forces Day
