Just got back from yorktown, pretty fun night...all in all I hooked up 4 stripers again from 2-4lbs nothing big but still fun! They hit these 4in swimbaits hard =D Lost about 3, my friend who came with me landed 1 and lost a bunch more (he still hasn't gotten the hang of setting the hook). pics to come!

Setting the hook worm fishing
Hey LBH my girlfriend did the same thing on her first hookset as you did in the beginning of the vid...I told her to just pull back as hard as she could if she felt the taps....we almost fell off the boat, lol, I watched the whole thing happen

VA guys
can you get old tide info? For the month of december? and wow, I didn't know the tides changed so much each day...maybe it has nothing to do with the tides but something like the stripers are drawn to the lights at night? I have no clue, lol

The place is totally lit up. Yea it's hard sometimes, much easier for me also since i'm so much closer so I understand if you're not up for it. I'll ask my friend again if there's any reason for the late times, maybe something to do with the tides.

I'm really not sure why, the guy who recommended the place to me told me it was the best time to fish there. I've been there 4 times so far and haven't been skunked yet =D

VA guys
Heya, planning on around 3am, i'm not sure of the street name but I think if you were to just mapquest Yorktown it'll take you right into the small town, which is only about 5 blocks. There's parking immediately to your right as you enter and fishing is right on the rocks. Also there are posted no fishing signs but the police don't care as long as you have you fishing license with you, also at 3am no one is gonna bother us anyways. I've had luck with 4in Storm Wild eye swim shads. I've been using a MH 6'6" casting rod but I just got a 7'6" Heavy, so I'll be giving that a shot with an Abu C3.

Heya Ron, Yep, I live in NoVA but I go to school at VCU in Richmond. I've been here in Richmond working my entire winter break so I take the trip from my apt which is only about 45mins so carpooling is out :-/. If ya wanna meet up there that'd be great though!

I haven't had much luck bank fishing for LMB, so to satisfy the itch I've been striper fishing at Yorktown....haven't gotten skunked there yet, average 3 per trip. They aren't very large stripers, 2-4lbers but they're fun to catch!

Tried the evolution jig?
I bought 2 packs when they went on sale at BPS...I lost all 4 tossing into submerged timber. I cried. I did however catch 6 before they were all lost. I blamed it on my inexperience with a jig setting the hook into the timber and such, I'll buy more (maybe) when I feel more experienced.

How do YOU fish a Swimming Senko?
For me not pegged, but letting the weight ride free

Anyone have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5501 or 5500 C3?
Heya Dsaaverdra, how would you compare the casting distance with your Citica vs the Abu? Should I expect more, same or less distance? I'm assuming about the same or a bit less ( I hope not alot less ) Thanks

How do YOU fish a Swimming Senko?
I usually use a 1/8 or 1/4 bullet weight T-rigged. I normally use a med-fast retrieve to fast retrieve. I've caught a good number of fish during the fall with it, but I've never thought to actually let it hit the bottom first before I start my retrieve...so I'll give that a shot next time.

Anyone have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5501 or 5500 C3?
Ahh, I was using the citica for saltwater/brackish water striper fishing which I heard could be veerryy bad for it due to corrosion (didn't have anything else at the time)...so I picked up the Abu

Anyone have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5501 or 5500 C3?
Ahhh, thanks you two for the help, also a thanks to TheRedTorpedo as he helped me alot over PM. I guess I bought a "new" older model one as it only have 2 pins verses the newer 6 pin models...I took one of the pins out so hopefully it'll let me cast the distance I'm looking for. Anyone happen to have any tips or mods that they've done to these Abus? Thanks again!

Anyone have a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5501 or 5500 C3?
I recently bought the Abu to replace my citica which I been using in a pinch for striper fishing (bad, I know I know) but I can't seem to get anywhere near the casting distance with the abu. It has "non adjustable" centrifugal brakes according to Tackle Warehouse, but Bass Pro says it has a 6 pin... and if they are anything like the citica's it seems like all of them are turned on and I don't know how to get to them! > Any hints guys? I feel like I wasted money :-/

This might just be a Firefox issue...but mine seems to be flush left, as you can see in the picture.

Forum Upgrades!
I'm using Firefox also, and I don't get a horizontal scroll bar but the forums seem to be...off a bit... for example.... my resolution is 1280x1024, but don't tell me to "turn my resolution down" this is the native res of my monitors and a website should be developed for most resolutions... good job on the site also!

Yorktown striper fishing? with pics!
Yorktown is down south near Busch Gardens/Water Country USA, from NoVA, you'd probably take 95 South then connect to 64 East (like you're going to VA Beach) then get off at exit 238B (I think) towards Yorktown, PM for more specific directions.
