  1. Ahhh, I'm guilty of putting too much faith in TackleTour myself, but when BR members put up their own reviews I take those into account also, which in my opinion is as great as the information at TT. Must question everything to find the truth!...left other philosophy from my Bio and Physics majors working !
  2. It's strange, a search on the net brings up mixed reviews. Here at BR, it's getting rave reviews, being compared to Steelz and GLX's but on other forums (Tackletour) being one, they are getting rather poor reviews, for example, low sensitivity, bad guides, reel seats and poor handles =/ Now I don't know what to believe :-/
  3. I started out with spinning gear and they were all set up for left hand retrieves, so when I tried a right hand BC, it felt strange. Setting the hook with my left hand felt weak =/ so I switched to a lefty BC and everything worked out. The main thing I was concerned about was a fish hitting on the fall right as a lure hit the water while I was changing hands
  4. Anyone receive any updates on their order via email, phone or anything? I'm reallllly hoping my order went through.
  5. nice catch guys! sucks I had to leave early =/ but I'm glad that the entire trip wasn't a skunk!
  6. I'm guilty of people one of "those" gamers (WoW) :-X now that it's gotten cold...and I can't seem to find those bar games in richmond...
  7. I feel your pain J, last year I played alot of poker, there's a bunch of free poker tournaments that are based off a point system in Va, so I ended up going to those. This winter I was thinking about rod/tackle making possibly, if my budget can support it =D
  8. Was curious about the carrot stix again and went to browse their website, looks like you're able to order other models of the carrot stix Another thought, has anyone else been concerned that since they use a "bio-fiber" that these bio-fibers might break down over time?
  9. Heya guys, sorry for chiming in so late. The outing at Huntsman was alot of fun, got to meet J and Andy and finally met up with Andrew (family friends). The day started out slow but amped up as soon as Jason caught a nice 2lber. I caught the first fish but it was a dink and I lost a 2nd fish due to some bad drag setting (I miss my baitcaster). I also owe Andy a red/black rat-l-trap that I lost some how (I feel horrible :'( )...probably got it snagged on some shrubs... all in all some good times! Smallie fishing this sat sounds good too!
  10. Heya J, I'm gonna be heading back up to NoVA this weekend, and 6-11am is perfect...right before I have to drive back down to Richmond. I broke my BC rod last month so you'll get to see my weak spinning skills i'll keep checking the forum for more updates!
  11. Nice fish! it's got one crazy looking eye though =D
  12. 2 for a 2piece and 2 for 1piece, i'm still confused, some say you could lose sensitivity and others not, has anyone tried both out side by side? (tough request, i know) Technically I COULD fit the rod into my 2-door civic but if I do it takes up 2 spots in my car. If I get a 2 piece I can just toss it in the trunk but I am buying the GLX for it's sensitivity and if a 2piece does reduce the sensitivity then that would be sort of counter productive. Any more ideas?
  13. Since I recently snapped my rod on a 2lb bass (BPS extreme travel rod ) I was looking into a GLX MBR783 as an all-around rod, I saw that they offer a 2 piece "travel rod" would there be a performance hit with using a 2 piece rod over a 1 piece? Would I just be crippling the extra sensitivity of the GLX if I were to go with the 2 piece? Thanks guys =D
  14. I feel your pain =( As I was fishing off my kayak a few weeks ago when a 2lber dove under when i tried to lip it. My BPS extreme snapped about 6inches from the top =( BPS gave me store credit though, but i'm out of a BCing setup til christmas, then I get to say hello to a new GLX =D
  15. how well does it pack up? I have a small 2 door civic, think it would fit nicely in there?
  16. i've had alot of luck on 2inch white grubs for small mouth, but I haven't tried anything white for LBs
  17. Where do you guys get bulk spools online? (besides BPS)
  18. ahh, but it'd be such a waste to toss the columbia jacket =D
  19. Has anyone tried a spray or any method to re-waterproof their rain gear? I usually use a Columbia jacket I bought about 3 years ago for my snowboarding/skiing/fishing needs, but recently i've notice that it soaks up more water than it repels. Any thoughts and ideas would be great guys! thanks!
  20. nice fish J! my luck with normal senkos is horrible these days, I'm hooked on the swim ones though =D
  21. I went back to pocahontas on thursday morning on my inflatable kayak to give it another go, water temps started off at 65 and slowly rose to about 70. I tried buzzbaits again at around 7 (black/red and then white/chartreuse/orange Calvitrons) but still didn't have any luck. I recently picked up a pack of swim senkos (black/blue flakes) and decided to give those a try. I T-rigged them with 1/8oz bullet up front on a 4/0 EWG, the fish seemed to like them! Nothing over 1lbs this time but it was still fun =D Also on a side note these swim senkos seem to last ALOT longer than normal senkos I got about 7 fish on 1 of them. and a bunch more I stopped taking pictures of. starting to love the SS =D
  22. Yep, it is pretty small though, good for jon boats but nothing much bigger
  23. one model of the LC Sammy is on clearance for 7 dollars now http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_29822_-100000000_-100000000__Clearance10
  24. Ahh, thanks for clarifying Sam! and for the word of warning =D
