yep I tried fishing underneath the bridge and near some docks, some guys said that anywhere near the docks is good...

Anyone ever try fishing for striper on the bank from here? I went down this past saturday morning after a tip from a friend. As I got there 1 guy was leaving with a 40+ inchers and another with a 30+ incher....I tried my luck with a 4inch pearl shad swimbait and later switched to white but with no luck. Two other guys were there trying but with no luck also. When I was about to leave at 11:30am a bunch of people started filing in...looks like a hotspot? I used to fish for croaker here with very good results (2lbers) consistently.

is it just me or is the drop shot technique more of a boater thing? In my head the drop shot doesn't really seem to work well from a bank angler stand point. I haven't actually tried it because my previous notions but please ocrrect me if i'm wrong.

Well, you just confirmed what I had thought when I looked at the new rods in the '08 catalog. I quite like the matte carbon finish. It goes well with my older Premier, other Avid, and my IMX. I'm not too big a fan of the pearl gloss finishing. :-/ The only fully finished rods you should be able to order directly from St. Croix are their ice rods. All other rods should not be available from their online store, and can be purchased from a St. Croix retailer. well maybee you cant ,,,, but everone else can .... heck i have 2 new legened tourey bass rods in my closet i just orderd a month ago .... can ya provide a link to where I can buy rods (sans the ice rods) from their website?

Quick question...I was recently trying to sell one of the Avid's I purchased from Reeds and one potential buyer asked me about the number of guides on the rod. He stated that the new avids had 10 guides and the old ones had 8...is there any truth to this? All the rods I bought from reeds have 10 guides .... if so Reeds sent me new avids ....

I've always been hesitant about tossing these, I just don't understand how a crank without the lip keeps from getting hung up on everything. After fishing in nova with a couple of BR guys and watching them haul in some nice bass on a Rat-L-trap I decided to pick one up...got it caught on something my second cast =( I'll keep giving these guys a shot but at 3 dollars a pop it's kinda expensive =(

I kinda have the same problem, my medium moderate action crankbait rod has cracks right below the tip...I'm not sure what to do either, get them to replace it? Sounds like I should do that but if it doesn't impact the performance should I bother? suggestions :-/ ?

You can go two ways: 1.- Go with the bling and get a Scorpion 1000 ( which is a great reel ) 2.- Go with Delo 's and get a Curado 100D ( which is a better reel than the Scorpion ) for $165 plus free shipping. Delo's?

I was looking to get a new baitcaster with a budget no more than 170 (firm). So far I was looking at the JDM Scorpion 1000, or possibly a Revo (not sure which model), This will match up with my 6'6" MH Fast rod. Anyone have any suggestions?

My new Avids have arrived! right at my door step =D CAN'T WAIT TO TRY them out! price tag on one of them says 170...I paid 180...I feel like I just stole a cookie from the cookie jar =D
