Trailer hooks?
I've recently been using spinnerbaits more and more lately and I've tried using the trailer hooks. I bought a setup that is sold by Strike King with 1/0 hooks and the little plastic tubing. My one problem is that the cut plastic tubes that comes with it are larger than the spinnerbait hook itself. Is this the way it's suppose to be? So far i've lost 2 trailer hooks just from the spinner hitting the water took hard. Any help would be great! Thanks!

New PB @ Pocahontas State park! guess the weight!
I went out early this morning to go fishing on my inflatable kayak, hit the water at 7am. It was slightly chilly outside, and the water temp was about 65, I started off tossing a Calvitron Buzzbait in black/red for about 30mins, then switched to the white/orange/chartreuse for a little but with no luck. I then switched to a jig with a Yamamoto double tail grub and started jigging the lilly pads with limited success, a dink less than a pound. I then switched to a small white spinner and started casting towards the bank while paddling back to the boat landing area. I tossed the spinner into a heavy laydown and BAM this baby hits my spinner hard and starts wrapping herself around the branches of the laydown and dragging me and my little inflatable around. If I hadn't had some 25lb powerpro she would have snapped me off on the laydown, luckily the power pro actually cut through some of the small branches while I eased my way around the thicker parts. When I landed her I smacked my self for not bringing my scale but she's definitely my new PB. Anyone wanna take a guess at her size based on my pic? She only about an inch away from me so no perspective tricks. Thanks for reading!

Spinning or Casting?
I switched to baitcasting about a year ago, like many have said, it's harder to cast lighter lures with baitcasting gear vs spinning. Accuracy is also a factor, someone said that accuracy is based on the skill of the user, that's 100% true, however we all can't cast 100% perfectly right inbetween some submerged timber which happens to be right under some overhang. In the event you were to accidentally cast too high and into the overhang you could easily press your thumb down on the spool in an instant to stop your lure short of getting tangled (i've done it countless times and i'm sure many on the forum have also). With spinning gear you can do almost the same thing, just flip the bail over asap, but doing that takes ALOT more time compared to the baitcaster. When I mean accuracy this is the scenario I refer to.

Hobie Mirage Fishing Kayak?
when I get out on the water to fish, it's all on a kayak, with that said, I've tried the Hobie kayaks with the paddle system...wow, kayak fishers wet dream. Hands free fishing from it is great, the pedals are extremely fast and efficient (use of leg power vs arms) the one thing i did notice was the turning radius, it has a rudder in the back but it doesn't allow for sharp turns, so you need a paddle also. As soon as I have 2.5k lying around in spare cash i'm picking one up =D

Baitcasting or Spinning for an All-around rod?
No, actually, the question was addressed to everyone, I want to know everyone elses opinion on the matter was. I already have my preference. Also, I'm not asking about what model Rod or anything regarding rod brand/quality etc, only rod/reel type (eg Baitcaster or spinning)

Baitcasting or Spinning for an All-around rod?
Title says it all, if you only had 1 "do it all, workhorse" rod, would you rather have it be a spinning or baitcasting rod? edit: and why?

Transferring fish to different ponds...
It's most likely not legal, do you see any fish at all? Brim/blue gill? any type of panfish or small bait fish? if not, the fish you add might not last very long anyways. some things to think about.

The invisible red theory....
what sal said, it's all about light wave filtering through water, red has a wavelength of 625 to 750nm, this wavelength is filtered out by the water depending on the clarity, clear water allows more sunlight penetration so that the red light that is reflected off the line is allowed to reach it. Red line will absorb all other colors besides red, you see red because the object REFLECTS red, if there's no red to be reflected what you have left is BLACK. so in shallow or clear water line that is red appears red, once you get past the point where water starts filtering out that wavelength all you have is BLACK line. However this is for SOLID red line, i've never seen the cajun line off the spool, but if it is in fact a TRANSLUCENT type of red then once water filters red, the rest of the light spectrum is passed through the line.

Saltwater fishing is killing me for bass
I dunno, if this is the right method or not, but I learned to set hooks by fishing for panfish ... Brim, Sunfish, Pumpkins, etc. I used a small tube 1-1.5in with a 1/16th jig head, if you don't set the hook they can spit your jig out, and there's so many that you can just cast in and retry if you miss it.

Keeping fish for eating.
I generally C&R, but if i'm taking a friend fishing for the first time I'll fry up his first catch ever (if it's within the size limit).

Unusual Catches
I remember fishing a local river this spring, I casted out and let my senko sink to the bottom, then my cellphone rang so I took my eyes off the line for about 15 seconds when I feel my rod jerk, I set the hook without even looking. When I looked over I saw that a bird had flew into my braided line and gotten itself tangled up. I went fishing and I caught a bird, getting it off my line was the strangest experience ever

Pony Pasture, 9/15
Yep, I caught them far in the back near that hidden dam you talked about in another thread, caught 3 in a row in less than 15 mins before they got smart =D

Pony Pasture, 9/15
Ever catch striped bass at the pastures? they hit the tub I was using so hard I almost dropped my rod =( and the most surprising thing was that they were only about 18in I can't even imagine a full size one, lol
