  1. Found a great deal for a used Sea Eagle 9, with floor boards, motor mount oars, etc (Fishing package pretty much) for $200! Anyone have any upgrade suggestions for this thing =D?
  2. Let us know how you do with the smallies J! I haven't caught one in a while but they fight hard and are crazy fun to catch =D
  3. Who here brings their dogs along with them when they fish? My friend wants to bring his dog along but the dog is really active...we don't know what kinda of crazy trouble he'd get into on our 11ft inflatable To all those who bring their dogs with them...what do your dogs do while they're on the boat?
  4. Heya Rondef, I purchased them too when they were on sale at bps for about half price....I never really liked them either, I bought 2 packs (4 jigs)...I tied on a Booyah jig and tossed it into moderately heavy cover a few times to get the feel (pulled one out actually )...I then tied on the Evo jig...First cast, hang up...tied another one on, second cast hang up... I stopped using them after that =/
  5. Ahh, I haven't had any luck in the summer times at yorktown for striper, I do catch alot of croaker and some flounder though. How do you shore fish for striper at yorktown in the summer times?
  6. You're kidding, right? :-? Striper season has been over since December 31. Any fish you catch now must be immediately returned to the water. Striper season doesn't open up again until spring. It's OK to fish for stripers, but you can't keep any. I meant more of a "til you can't catch them any more cause they've moved" kinda thing rather than to actually keep them.
  7. sorry guys! date change, got my dates mixed up =/ now saturday night to sunday morning! hope you all can still go!
  8. @ron I'll be fishing the same place as before, here the address 332 Water St Bldg L, Yorktown, VA That's the address to the Ben and Jerry's there but googlemaps seems to put it right at the point where we fish, so ever better! @Andrew Come down! I'm not sure when Striper season ends but you gotta get some in before it does =D break the dry spell too! Maybe you'll catch a biggggg one =D
  9. Wow...hot, I've been looking into getting a "real" kayak (I have an inflatable) but any kayak like that is pretty much out of my price range. If ya wouldn't mind...how much did you pick that one up for?
  10. Anyone up for it =D? edit for more details: Heading down saturday night 11ish, and fishing til morning. The place is VERY lit, so it's not like fishing in total darkness. Bring swimbaits update: sorry I got my dates wrong! it'll be saturday night to sunday morning!
  11. Heya guys, J wasn't able to make it so Ado and I went...turns out Bull Run and Fountainhead were closed so we wasted a bunch of time going around to each. At Bullrun we found a path leading under that bridge and tried from there....no luck...then we just went to Huntsman for a little bit... no luck there =/
  12. Thanks for the suggestion guys, I'll give it a shot at my next outing =D
  13. So very tempted....but my day is packed full I'll be going on the Sunday meeting though, rain/snow or shine =D
  14. I've always been meaning to try the yo-zuri you're always talking about rw, but no one sells the stuff around here =( about hooksetting, do you ever feel like you're pulling so much line out when you set the hook that you lose alot of the power meant for hook penetration?
  15. I've seen it in stores but I've never tried it....I do like their swimbaits though =D
  16. I was curious if anyone else was having this problem... I normally use 30lb Stren braid for fishing but recently I've starting trying out some co-poly's and mono... I've been told to set my drag at about 25% or so of my line test to prevent snapping the line and such on a hook set. With 6 lb line I usually will set my drag at around 1.5 to 2 lbs... On hook sets I feel like I'm losing alot of my hookset power on line coming out due to the drag engaging... there have been a few times where I feel like I've put enough power into a hookset only to have my lure fly out at me when I get the fish close.... anyone get the same feeling?
  17. I love it too, I keep mine nicely capped so I haven't noticed the thickening. I also find that it will form a thin layer over the opening and cap itself for me... (maybe when I stick the head into the bait it melts some plastic onto the top....)
  18. I got mine in yesterday! Bought mine from Reeds with a 10% discount and still got the rebate
  19. Count me in =D
