When I am using spinning gear, I want my finger holding the line to be the braid, so I guess that would be no leader on the spool. When I use braid on casting, I don't use a leader. Normally I use just braid pitching/frogging.

Started Slider fishing back in the 80's. Still have one of his short slider rods. Think I may have to start back Slider fishing some. Enjoyed the video.

Running a 1996 Johnson 90 hp, nothing wrong with a old Johnson once you learn how to crank it. ?

I carry most of the things mention plus these linesmans pliers. If you try to cut a hook from a crankbait ( when you get hooked) you might be surprised that you normal pliers won't cut the hook or split ring..

Not the best line to use on a spinning reel. The XL is the line you want, has less memory. Big Game is OK on a casting reel however.

Go with the BB1, they are just about bullet proof. I have 7 of them, never a problem.

If I had to stay around $100,I would go with a Pflueger President 30 reel and a Lews Hank Parker spinning rod.

14# mono, when I started fishing, this is what I used, of course then, it was about the only line to use. You did have a choice, Trilene or Stren.

If you are watching the Bass Master Classic, it looks like red is the color. I also suspect that is it is a vision thing.

Send it back, something is wrong.

I would go with 16# test, been using it for years with no problems. Sniper 16# is actually smaller diameter than most 14# lines.

H & H has been around a long time. I remember using them back in the 60's. Yes I am that old.
