Use what ever you got on hand for backing or buy something cheap. Really doesn't matter for bass fishing.

Get you a 11 ft. jig pole, smallest you can find underspin reels loaded with 6 pound hi vis line and a sackfull of 1/16 hair or rubber jigs. Verticle fish tree tops or piers. Vary the depth until you find them. Load the boat, fry them up.

Use Strike King's Zero or Z MAn's Zinker Z, one worm will last all day and then some. The longer you use them, the better they are,

I agree with Blue, the Ned rig is an awesome follow up bait. It is rare that they won't hit it.

Since I am an early riser and retired, I really love the morning bite. Love to get out on the water before sunrise and start throwing a buzz bait.
