  1. Crayfish, sculpins and yellow perch.
  2. Catch More Bass by Stan Fagerstrom. Stan left us early this year. He was a great fisherman and an even better person. The book might be out dated but it shares so many basics and fundamentals well it's still relevant.
  3. Two recent acquisitions thanks to members here. A Steez and Zillion to spoil me. This shows that there can be some superb deals on the flea market if you are patient. Thanks Kai and John !!!!!
  4. Dobyns Extreme 702SF matched with a Diawa Ballistic LT 3000. My drop shot set up. it has all the attributes of a fantastic drop shot rod. It was a little spendy but well worth the investment.
  5. It's more common than you think and it's not a problem exclusive to Strike King. I lost seven Normans baits and five Luhr Jensen baits because I subjected them to heat for an extended period of time. Tackle boxes are like vehicles when left in the sun. It can be 80 outside and 120 inside.
  6. Missile Baits Bomb Shot. Strike King Half Shell and the Robo Worm FX Sculpin.
  7. What a guy that Darren. Thinking of my best interest. Just think of all the time he saved me on the water trying to force feed those finicky bass a lure that is so ineffective. That's what this forum is all about, sharing and caring about all of it's members. I have a special account with Longview Waste control to dispose of any Ned rig related tackle so send it to me and I will see it's properly recycled. I, like Darren want to be a selfless giver.
  8. At seven grand, I'm not willing to risk losing mine. Having hearing loss is the pits.
  9. Love my movies. Early John Wayne in the Searchers and later in The Cowboys, True Grit (great book) and The Shootist. I grew up with all the late 50's and 60's TV series. I like Outlaw Josey Wales, Open Range, Unforgiven, Dances With Wolves. If you've never seen The Homesman with Tommy Lee Jones, that's a good flick as well. Another is Hostiles with Christian Bale. It's the only movie he's actually good in. I don't do spaghetti westerns though.
  10. Where did the season go A-Jay? It seems like last month you showed your season's best producing baits. I enjoy your recaps. Do you even own a flippin stick? I also gave the Ned rig a serious amount of time and guess what? The big TRD was the deal and green pumpkin was the best color. Unlike yourself, I had to drop shot a lot and it was very successful this year but deep, up to 48 feet at times. Lastly a shaky head with a trick worm in any color as long as it was green pumpkin proved it's value. The 6th Sense Curve 55 is a new favorite, thanks to you. Great stuff!!
  11. Full rear cork, no for grip on everything possible. Split grips are acceptable on spinning rods. Just my preference.
  12. I love photos like this A-Jay. They capture a great deal of personality, a sense of the moment, the twinkle in the eye and the satisfaction of being released to fight another day. To think all that can be seen in a fish. It's amazing.
  13. I want my money back ! Wait a second, this site is free.
  14. Welcome ! It certainly sounds like you love to drop shot and have some extensive experience with the technique. Time for a dedicated rod. I can share my experiences and preferences if that helps. I started with a Lamiglas 701 Drop Shot special. The concept was new, lines were small and the rod flexed well into the middle third of the blank. Too soft of an action for me. I picked up a Dobyns Extreme 742SF and this rod is is really sweet but tripled as a tube, hula grub and drop shot rod. I wanted a dedicated drop shot rod that was lighter over all and went with the Extreme HP 702SF and paired it with a Ballistic 3000LT. When you drop shot for three days in a row the light weight and balance makes fishing so much more relaxing. The Dobyns 2 powers have great tip but transitions into a powerful lower section. I have some experience with the Diawa Tatula 6-10 Medium and this rod in it's price range is a great performer. Similar action as the Dobyns. Fish what's comfortable.
  15. When Diawa did their revamp of spinning reels they reduced the over all dimensions, thus the designation as LT. My LT Ballistic 3000 is the same size as my OG Ballistic 2500. I would not go smaller than a 3000, even if paring it with a 6-10 rod. I run #12 braid w. leader and casting distance and line control are excellent with my Ballistic and Fuego LT's.
  16. Othello is Glenn's home away from home I think.
  17. The season is kind of winding down. I wanted to say thank you to members who shared items or products that proved to be really effective for me. The 6th Sense Curve 55. A-Jay posted an image of a selection he had and got my curiosity up. I tried them and they are the genuine article. outstanding baits. Missile Baits Bomb Shot. I don't recall who mentioned this bait but thank you. It was a very productive drop shot bait and put a bunch of fish in the boat. See. Some of us actually listen. Thanks for the suggestions ! Doug
  18. Does your boat policy cover electronics? If it was removed from your boat that should come into play. Sorry Joe.
  19. Have a surgeon cut a divot out of the palm of your hand where the contact is made with the cast control dial. Problem fixed.
  20. Welcome from Longview WA.
  21. Got em' Tom
  22. The GYB Hula Grub is an absolute staple for small mouth and is no slouch for large mouth. Smallies get an open hook and largies get a weed guard. You can fish them texas style but a jig head provides that enticing stand up position. And Glenn knows what 176 means for sure.
