Looking for a new cranking reel..
Yup. That's where it all started. I still have 5 BB1N's, two with the anti reverse switch on the top. I screwed up and sold the two Shimano made Lews back in 1979. They were the deal in the day with three bearings. They still cast great.☺️

Looking for a new cranking reel..
I have a match pair of Lews BB1's and have been happy with them. That's for deep cranks that have significant resistance.

What lures did you lose the most in 2019?
Plastics, lots of plastics. My plug knocker won Most Valuable Player this year.

I have a kink in my neck. Grist mill est 1880 about 35 minutes away. I wish it had snow. It would have made a nice Christmas card. Can't get it to rotate.

Winter is here and I’m bored.
I'm going to start crocheting rod covers.

Looking for a Dobyns jig/frog rod recomendation
The Champion 735 as mentioned. If your budget is limited the 735 in the Fury and or Sierra series. For jigs you want great balance due to it being a tip up technique. You also want a blank that locks up pretty quick to drive those beefier hooks home from a distance. You still want enough tip to load and cast well. The 735 provides those attributes. Balance, Power and Tip. Happy shopping !

What’s your biggest River smallmouth?
My biggest is a 5.13 on the Umatilla Pool of the Columbia. Before smart phones but not before a digital scale. I lost one over six at the boat and wet myself.

Anyone use straight braid for everything?
Straight braid for three applications, punchin, swim jig and frogs. Braid with a leader on all my spinning rods. I like the reduced line twist and small diameter. Everything else is done with mono or floro.

Arky/Casting Plain Jig Heads
I just received an order from Sieberts which included the Extreme Arkie and Grid Iron Arkie. I'm not sold on a sickle style hook but that's my opinion. Mike's stuff is very good quality.

Old High End vs New Mid-Level Rods ( Daiwa Steez )
Too bad it's a med heavy and not a medium. Great technology and performance but pricey.

MLF on Discovery Channel - Horrible Broadcast
There must be more profitability in outdoor clothing and ATV's than fishing lures and and boats. It's a self serving format. It's better than watching Judge Judy or Gun Smoke re-runs. Well, at least the Judge Judy part.
