I’m hoarding my last Lee Sisson balsa baits.

Blue marker only. The tips of crayfish claws are blue through the spawn on the Columbia so tubes, hula grubs and Rage Craws get a touch of blue. Even the back ends of some crankbaits get the blues, thus the pattern, Columbia Craw.

A Kracken tried to grab the boat and truck and flipped it over. That tow truck driver is taking his life in his own hands. The deputy knows the Kracken’s reach so he’s well back up the ramp.

I have two. Both right hand with a 6.5 a 7.2 gear ratio. The frame is graphite pressure molded poly resin carbon. Side plate are also carbon Fibre. The reel come in at around 7.2 ounces with an alloy 100 mm handle and an 11 stainless steel ball bearing system. The cast control is achieved via side spool controlled knob with clicker control and an arc of five placed magnets. The spool starts incredibly fast and the cast long. Both are very good pitchers. Ergonomics is very good. Drag is also powerful. Tolerances. Fit and finish is very impressive. I had on glitch. The cast control side plate was stuck. A frizz of of WD40 around the seam and all was good. The tolerances are tight and it’s braid friendly. Casting performance has been excellent for control and distance. They are rigid. I’ll be a crash test dummy on these. They feel great so far.

They cover the holes on my broken tail light lenses.

The annual show in February is held in Portland Oregon. It’s all salmon, trout, steelhead and Kokanee. Bass amounts to less than five percent and that includes reel reps and electronics. I worked two booths six years ago for a dealer rep buddy. What a freaking zoo. It was not a good time.

Sometimes I’ll cut the kernels off and mix a liberal amount with Pico de Gallo as a side salad or relish. Good stuff.

There are certain models that just stick out for me. Extreme 702sf is a stellar drop shot or Ned rod. The Champion 704CB is an incredible jerk bait rod while the 705cb is a fantastic square Bill rod. The Champion 805CB is hard to beat for deep cranking. The best CB however is my favorite, the 764CB RM. The Champ 736C is a killer frog rod. The Kaden 744C is the best bang for the buck swim jig rod out there. For punching, the Xtreme 795 is the deal. And of course the do all 734C regardless of series is do anything model. These models are my must haves.

I’m using a Tatula 200 in 6.2 for big deep divers with the 100mm handle. It casts long, has a good gear train, the wide spool helps the IPT stay consistent and the handle reduces fatigue from Bill resistance. The cost is affordable. Might be a good option.

It’s an awesome bluegill imitation and can get in and out of nasty cover. The ability to fish it back and suddenly let it drop and recover elicits strikes.

So I did pick up an Hakai about three weeks ago. The press material and limited reviews jumped my curiosity. I also too advantage of a discount. The first thing I noticed is it’s light, very light . it’s easy to palm and has the right length of handles at least: The spool is light and has a rapid start up. It took very little fiddling to get the cast control dialed in. Great distance with 3/16 ounce and great control. Very smooth. The manner in which the spool control worked through the final third of the cast is reminiscent of my Tatula Elite. I really liked this reel when roll casting square bills and power casting jerkbaits. It’s very fluid during the retrieve. The Hakai has some nice features and very good casting attributes overall and just feel tight. I’m going to match it with a 705CB and burn extensive rip rap banks the fall. Nice reel over all.

I met Glenn and had a short visit about four years ago. We had to keep it short. His ice was melting.
