  1. Old Timers? We are a different breed, Back then we could keep a buzzbait running on the surface with a 4.7 to 1 ratio. I know it’s hard to believe but it’s true. During those times a football jig was a dance the scoring receiver did in the end zone. Where’s my walker Martha?
  2. Balance is the criteria. Neutral in the hand comes first. An ounce means little to me. It’s not like I’m swinging a framing hammer all day.
  3. My granddaughter made this for me. What she wrote and drew inside is just for me. All the best Dads!!
  4. You ramble and vent and share. I care about what you are facing and your Dad’s struggles. I wish I had more to give.
  5. When Dobyns had the roll out promo on the Kadens, one model I grabbed was a 713 SF and it’s paired with a Procyon LT 3000 I picked up on a close out for 99 bucks. Best combo for the cost I have to date.
  6. Best to worst as in catching effectiveness or capability to fish the lure/ technique? I have no best. I have worse because I don’t care to fish them be it big swim baits and the umbrella rig.
  7. For what it’s worth, Gary Dobyns punches with a Champion 766Flip. That’s Cal Delta slop.
  8. I bought a 15 and 17 for fishing jigs. It’s a little stiff but not bad. The jury is still out.
  9. I wish Simms made a top that would keep jet skiers away.
  10. You might look at the Zillion TW HD. The Xtreme 795 F/P is another rod option. Both balance really nice.
  11. Being that I buy from A-Jay, I have at least a duplicate.
  12. Why are line manufactures setting a braid pound test at 65 pounds? Why not 60 or 70 pound test. What’s the magic about 65? Have anglers been indoctrinated into a false belief that this test braid is the standard of the industry? There are two answers to questions that I have to know: what is the meaning of life and the braid deal.
  13. If I was a “premium” hook manufacturer, I would be approaching credible bait companies and providing a workable cost with the caveat my hook brand be featured on the package. Like Bill Lewis, a number of well known brands do just that. That’s good marketing and good business.
  14. Remove hook(s) from net or your hand, or face? I’ll take door number one Monty.
  15. Well said.
  16. For me, there are three ways to fish pads and the depth and density are major factors. Something that floats and can be moved and paused. A frog is my first choice. Something I can maneuver through the pads just under the surface level. I like a Freedom Tackle swim jig rigged weedless with a boot tail swimbait. Something heavy to pitch into small openings and drop to the bottom. A creature bait or a jig do the trick.
  17. There’s been many a time I drank from a wet hoof print and was glad to have it.
  18. Two rods stick out for me. A longer flipping stick, a Kaden 765 Flip and or a Champion 764CB RM. Something along those lines in whatever brand choice you prefer.
  19. Like these?
  20. Thanks to all! My buddy was closer than a brother.
