  1. I like variety and as long as simplify does detract from my ability to experience variety I’m good with it. What draws me to bass fishing is vast means to catch them. That feeds my variety diet. For me the simplicity is surface, mid depth or deep bottom. Oh, simplicity should come natural to me as I’m simple minded.
  2. It’s all about efficiency. I want the the best tool to deliver the lure, work the lure and retrieve a lure and any fish I hook on the lure.
  3. Susquehanna Tackle has their own shop brand I’ve been using for years. Check them out.
  4. Nailed it! A no love bait. Very reasonable price and good color options.
  5. The way I look at it, my grandsons will never have a reason to complain about tariffs on fish gear because they will never need to buy any.
  6. Back in the early 80’s, Ryobi produced a mini baitcaster. It couldn’t cast worth a darn.
  7. The 1/4 oz? 6th Sense Curve Finesse
  8. You got that right! Don’t get me going.
  9. Alabama rig. Honestly I don’t care to ever throw it again.
  10. When these baits were featured. There was more emphasis on the retrieves than the color patterns.
  11. I’ll go with a flat side regardless of depth once water temps drop below 55 degrees.
  12. For Texas rigged, casting. Spinning for everything else.
  13. Has anyone considered using the new Air Carbon Mesh introduced by NFC in place of traditional thread?
  14. I discovered that Lucky Craft has a Matt Tiger in the 1.5 Silent for 7.99 and this is a very good squarebill.
  15. I think there’s three factors as to why you would want a heavy power rod. The weight of the lure might require the power to cast that lure. The hook size, I.e. a jig may require the power to get hook penetration. Finally, the cover being fished. It may require a heavy power to yard the fish out. As stated, each manufacturer rates the power differently. The same goes with actions. Sometimes you just have feel the rod under load to know it meets your expectation.
  16. Drop of Lucas Oil reel oil on the spool bearings and worm gear. So far, so good.
  17. What ever you prefer, being familiar or in tune with the handle and reel seat is as important as the material itself. Familiarity helps to detect irregularities which just might be the bite. As Ty said in Caddy Shack, be the ball Danny.
  18. I would look at Mike’s options for jig heads. They are exceptionally well made and the collar is designed to hand tie skirt material.
  19. Bandit and the Luhr Jensen have good versions. Norman’s DLN is also great.
  20. I have one. The first thing I noticed was how well it casts. I get great distance and spool control. The size is comfortable and easy to palm. The handle length and knobs are to my liking. I’ve only fished it loaded with 12 lb Floro for mid size paddle tail Swimbaits. It feels connected during the retrieve. Now, compared to the Tatula TW80 at 105.00, it feels a bit “hollow.” Not a bad thing but different. A very good reel overall all.
  21. Adidas neoprene runners gloves.
  22. Even goby’s try to mate with them when rigged on a 1/4 ounce football jig.
  23. Around $50? The Dobyns Mavericks can be found in 55-58 dollar range on Amazon. Check your couch for loose change. This series is rock solid.
