  1. I’ve enjoyed most of this conversation. I’m not surprised at the review or the insights. It’s true Kast King has history and a perception of poor quality. Perception can be reality to folks, anglers included. I have a friend who is frugal, he says cheap. He’s been fish KK reels for awhile now with good results. I always say keep your options open. Great dialogue.
  2. You didn’t mention a price range. Right or left handed? Anyway, with that aside, I can’t say enough about the Shimano Metanium and Chronarch. The Daiwa Zillion SV TW is close.
  3. Kietech Swing Impact Fat Xzone Swammer Crush City Mayor I also like baits from small companies All In Fishing and Reel Time NW. Dobyns Swim bait heads all around.
  4. There are a bunch of good to very good spinnerbaits out there. What I like about Sieberts is Mike’s variety, quality and durability. His skirt options are impressive and Mike offers wire tied skirts. The Cosmic, Compact and new Tungsten are all winners and affordable.
  5. It’s a tie. My OG Zillion and my Chronarch/ Metanium. I have large hands and most of my reels palm very well but those two stick out.
  6. Largemouth: Rage Bug Spinnerbait Fogy Swim jig/jig Crankbait Paddle tail swimbait Smallmouth: Dropshot Hula Grub Ned Tube Vision 110 Rattlin Vibe Spinnerbait
  7. I ordered an Edge Delta 703S in November and it arrived yesterday. I was surprised with the new guide train. I learned there was a push from steelhead guides to go with this new guide because braid to leader knots and bobber stoppers pass through with less resistance. The rod overall is incredibly light. It will see both dropshot and Ned use.
  8. The BPS exclusive label reels are branded Daiwa products. Scheels does the same thing. It’s a win win.
  9. Very interesting. I still believe the best cast control is my thumb.
  10. When you go way back, which is relative, the “tube jig” was created by Bobby Garland and the goal was to create a small plastic bait for panfish. A jig could be inserted in the hollow cavity or the lead jig head could be positioned outside the head of the tube. The design was so effective Garland developed the Gitzit, the first tube dedicated for Bass. Like most new bait designs, anglers figured out numerous way to rig the Gitzit. The rest is history. Personally, most of my tube fishing is with the jig head inserted and the hook exposed. I also fish a Flippin tube or craw tube rigged Texas style.
  11. The Rage Bug is just a proven T rig bait for me. I run a Sieberts tungsten weight around 5/16 oz. An Owner Jungle EWG in 4/0 and pegged gets it done. 420 works everywhere. C rig will be a 1/2 ounce oval sinker, a bead and a 30 inch leader attached to a Gamakatzu EWG in 3/0 to a Bitters twin tail lizard in green pumpkin.

  13. I have a specific combo for the majority of techniques but the reality is many can overlap. If I’m a back seater I’ll have to pick six of those combos.
  14. Yo Zuri Drum and Rattling Vibe
  15. I never thought of Speed Traps as a square bill but they are special.
  16. I found this under my silk bed spread next to the horses head.
  17. Twice the length of the rod.
  18. Nope. I’m square bill poor. What is even worse is I have another box not pictured. I wish they made a gum for this habit.
  19. Kaden 735CB is a versatile rod and will fill in as a bladed jig rod. The Lavante Flatside is a winner for sure.
  20. The Mercy Ship heading up the Columbia from Astoria to Portland.
  21. Digitaka Tatula SV TW. 167.00 Zillion SV TW. 224.00 I own both, actual three of each. Both are rock solid and great casters. I prefer the Zillion drive train and can get additional distance. The Zillion also excels in pitching with light weight.
  22. I’m going to say no. When it was $109.00 it was a great value. With no upgrades it has fallen behind. For another fifty bucks, there are a number of rods that have a lighter, more sensitive blank and Fuji guides. When the new upgraded Megabass Lavante comes out, it’s going to shake things up. An Edge Delta series for me is great and I expect another deep discount special around May 11th. You can’t be stagnant in this industry. JMO
  23. Take a look at the NFC Edge First Strike ISR 694-1. It is an inshore taper and action. I have this model and the taper provides a traditional or moderate action. Don’t let the 4 power scare you. It’s much more of a three minus by most manufacturers standard. It’s light and sensitive. FFT
