  1. Small poppers if they're busting minnows on the surface. I've also had very good success with a small plastic craw dropped silently near rocks or logs.
  2. Put yourself in the pond owners shoes. What would you think of someone fishing your private pond that hasn't asked first?
  3. Retired safety manager for a major auto manufacturer. Great career if you have a passion for helping people. Horrible choice of a career if you don't like getting in the trenches and fighting for what's right.

I don't watch tournaments but all this talk about the need for more cameras has me thinking there's a great opportunity here for someone with several drones to sell their services to B.A.S.S.
  5. Blessed man you are!
  6. I fished river smallmouth for fifty years. I'd rate a plastic craw near the top. I've also done very well with in-line spinners such as Mepps and Rooster Tails. Don't forget to throw a few small crankbaits in your box as well, along with some Rapalas and topwater lures. Jig and pig can't be beat if you're after big fish.
  7. Thanks for the comments. I put a reel on her today, filler it with fresh line and I'm ready to try this beast out.
  8. I have one of these reels with the flippin switch. I've had it for a few years and used it just a couple of times. It was actually given to me by mistake at the BPS reel counter, and I didn't know it had the flippin switch until I got home two hours later. I've decided to use this reel on my new fliipin stick, but long ago lost the manual. Anyone know where I can get a manual online? I'm interested in understanding how the flippin switch works mostly.
  9. Depending on the depth of the water and any critters in the area,I'd likely have went in after that combo.
  10. My wife bought me a new fishing rod for my birthday tomorrow. It's the 7'6" Heavy casting model. Seems to be well made and I'm anxious to put a reel on it and try it out. Anyone have one of these rods?
  11. Hope they can recover and come back stronger. Competition is normally a good thing for consumers.
  12. What a great story!
  13. I grill Chuck Eye steaks primarily. I used to go for the Porterhouse and Ribeye until I discovered Chuck Eye. Has to be the most flavorful steak I've eaten. I sear mine over high heat and cook it medium. My wife likes hers well done, which I hate to cook. I use GrillMates Montreal Steak dry seasoning. Speaking of Ruth's Chris,I ate one of their 22oz. steaks while in Chicago once. Fabulous steak, even if it did cost my company $70.00 for the meal.?
  14. Forget worrying about buying him anything. It's just stuff anyways. What he needs now, what both of you need,is to spend as much time together as possible. I never knew any of my grandparents and you are blessed to still have yours. Please take advantage of it.
  15. When I lived in Ohio I would visit the GM store in Huber Heights near Dayton. Every time I went in there it was busy, and driving by the store on the highway the parking lot was always crowded. The store was always fully stocked in both hunting and fishing areas. Hard to read all these posts about their impending bankruptcy but it is what it is. Lots of companies are going under nowadays, plus how many hunting and fishing chains can the economy support?
  16. My dad's family history goes back to Great Britain,Scotland if I remember right. My mom's family came over from Italy. I always wanted to do one of those DNA tests but couldn't figure out if they were on the up and up or not.
  17. I'm currently looking for the same thing you are so please let us know what you end up with.
  18. Man I hate seeing that buck in the median like that. Reminds me of a similar situation I came upon on the highway once. Deer was thrashing about but couldn't get up so the state patrol put him out of his misery. Farm country!!
  19. I watch about 25 or more of these critters every day jumping from the oak trees to the palm trees in my back yard. They even run across the pool cage! When I was was a kid I ate squirrel twice and hated it. Must have been the way they were cooked cause a lot of folks love em.
  20. Beef jerky?
  21. For five MILLION bucks a pop for commercial time you would have thought they would have been awesome. Just goes to show you that you DON'T always get what you pay for. I'm ashamed to say that I kinda liked Lady Gaga, even though I had no clue what she was singing about.
  22. I wonder how fast a gator that size can move in the water? Apparently fast enough to not miss any meals.
  23. I'd like to see Pittsburgh beat the Patriots but I don't think they will. Definitely pulling for Green Bay over the Falcons, love to see them run the table after the terrible start they had.
