I like the skirt colors and the bonus multi-color paint schemes on the jigheads but they are too expensive! I need to find a jig I like and buy like 30 of them at once and not have to sell a rod or reel to do it.
  4. Ditto on what these guys said. Find a place where they are still alive and you will find the bass.
  5. I haven't used it because of the price tag but FWIW: I've never heard any bad reviews of it except for dodgeguy's post.
  6. beauties for sure.
  7. No, some are professionals and some are charter captains: Go Strip Bass Fishing now, with a Charter Captain and he will usually have the very best salt water gear for their customers. Enthusiast is not set by dollar amounts and not all high end buyers buy for collection some , indeed all the Captains here buy it out of need ,for their customers. t I wish you had told that to the Captain that I went trolling with! It's hard to reel in snarled umbrella rigs behind a moving boat with a reel that doesn't want to crank smoothly. And I think the warranty stuff that Pantera was getting at is that to offset the costs of warranty exchanges rod companies have to charge more for their products.
  8. great review, Scott. I have been looking at those baits for a while now and I had no idea they were rigged that way. I thought they were flipping/pitching baits meant to be fished pegged to a heavy weight. How long before someone reviews the Sasuteki Craw? That thing has been glaring at me from TW's front page
  9. lol, that is a pretty good summation Rowland.
  10. yeah, pretty much. ;D So with the stradic you are leaving about $50 budget for a rod? I would spend more on the rod, in my opinion it is more important than a reel for what you are doing. You really don't need a Stradic for live bait and "some lures." I think you would benefit much more from a nice rod.
  11. They sure do...I can't even look at it. I know almost every USDM product available but when they start talking about JDM stuff they might as well be speaking a different language.
  12. mike, how much do the bull shads weigh?
  13. You're getting a $200 reel to fish nightcrawlers?!? That's a new one. How much are you looking to spend?
  14. How do you not know who Steve Slaton is? He was a huge star at WV for 2 or 3 years.

I'm honestly not too picky when it comes to jigs but I prefer one with an angle that tilts the hook up if the jighead is sitting flat on the bottom. Also, I like (but don't require) recessed line ties.
  16. spincasting or spinning? what is your price range?
  17. The heavier Ultra Soft is still some of the most limp stuff I've used. I use 12 or 15lb for buzzbaits, cranks, and spinnerbaits. "Stiff" is not a word I would ever associate with it. Maybe you had a bad or old batch SD
  18. I assume you are talking about slippery pot pie and not the kind with the crust that everyone else eats?
  19. nice job dude.
  20. Today I had three separate occasions in which a fish hit but didn't get hooked on my buzzbait. On each occasion I managed to hook the fish on a subsequent cast. Sometimes they are willing to come back for it, sometimes they aren't.
  21. Cornflakes and flat beer. Don't knock it till you try it. Until you pour a beer and a wad of cigarette butts falls out.
  22. Welcome! Make sure to check out the "Fishing Article" section for some useful tips and techniques.
  23. But doesn't buying from a dealership also have its advantages against buying on ebay or craigslist? ie: warranty, peace of mind about the condition of the boat, etc...?
  24. I don't get it. If you were fishing slop and vegetation, what is wrong with braid? That's exactly the situation where I would want braid. I would think that the low gear ratio might have hindered your ability to keep pressure on the single hook. You are saying it was the reel's fault, but why? What about the reel failed?
  25. Why do you want to trade a Sol for a Stradic?
