  1. ok, that sounds like something I could use. I don't crank too much so I don't really get the whole wide vs. tight wobble and rocks vs. timber stuff.
  2. PB!

way to go man. Very nice fish.
  3. that sucks dude. I try to move my gear with me as I walk along the bank for that very reason.
  4. I can cast light baits reasonably well with my Citica E and I have a pretty stout rod. Burley is right on--the rod is important too. I think if I used a slower action rod I could whip the light baits out farther than with my XF rod.
  5. I always wondered if plastic shrimp baits would be good substitutes for crawfish...
  6. primus-"john the fisherman", or,primus- "the ol diamond back sturgeon" I saw Les Claypool on a fly-fishing show one time. Apparently he is really into fishing

  8. hmmm. How deep do they dive? What areas are they best used in?
  9. a 2-pack of Tru Tungsten in 1/2oz is $6 = $3 per 1/2oz weight a 4-pack of Conquistador weights in 1/2oz is $8 = $2 per 1/2oz weight a 3-pack of Kanji Senkin X-Metal weights in 1/2oz is $5 = $1.67 per 1/2 oz weight What is the difference? As far as I can tell the only difference is that the TT are painted. The Kanji Senkin are "colored" but from the description on TW it sounds like they are still metallic looking. Is the coloring process really that expensive? Couldn't someone like Kanji Senkin make their 1/2oz weight and slap some paint on it and still sell it for say...$2.25 or even $2.50? Is that too much of a stretch?

got it. thanks dude. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yeah, 28 was the limit down here also. You can keep one over 28 until this Saturday I think, then the trophy season ends and you can keep two but only one can be over 28. Or something like that... We only kept one for each of us so we have 4 filets. I'll give the "straight up" approach a try.

Van Staal was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw the pic you posted. That's gonna be sweet, man. Can you keep the fish you are catching? I still have some left over from my fish and I don't really know how to cook it. I've never cooked striper before..
  13. I realize they are expensive and I am willing to pay a higher price. Some brands are cheaper than others, some are painted, some aren't. I just want some that are painted and don't cost as much as the name brands. Maybe I'm asking too much but I figured I would check with you guys just to make sure there aren't any small companies selling what I'm looking for at a better price or good deals.
  14. wow. that bluegill pattern is flat out awesome
  15. Yeah, I'd definitely call BS on the 10lber
  16. I can't seem to find any tungsten bullet weights I want for a price I like. Does anyone know where I can get some green pumpkin/brown/black tungsten weights between 3/8 and 3/4oz?

Cool, thanks Matt. I've been wanting to try to go after striper down here in the bay with some spinning gear but I didn't really know where to start. That reel in the picture is pretty sweet. Is that your Penn or is that what you are getting done to it?
  18. Dan: replied to =Matt 5.0='s topic in Other Fish Species
what kind of gear do you use?

nice. I just caught my first stripers while trolling on a charter trip in the Chesapeake bay. It was fun but I would really love to catch them on lures. That sounds like a lot more fun. We caught some nice fish by trolling but I didn't feel like I really earned the fish. All I did was reel it in... Here's a pic of the one I was allowed to keep:
  20. What is that used for? Anyone have a good remedy for psoriasis that doesn't cost 20k or that insurance will cover without basically taking chemo pills? It's a face wash with moisturizer in it. They make aftershave, plain moisturizer, and other stuff too.
  21. I am waiting to buy one until I can find a 165 size in Holo Greenie or one of the other more natural colors.
  22. 10 lb seguar invizx on a 4000 size spinning reel gave me no issues what so ever.or try cajun red cast mono. I don't really consider a 4000 size reel "for bass" why?a loy of pros including kvd do!!!the bigger spool prevents line twist.if you buy a pflueger supreme you can have a 4000 size around 9 ounces. I just don't see the point in using a spinning reel made for 12lb or heavier line for bass. I think 12lb test is the cut-off where a baitcaster becomes more appropriate.
  23. Those ratings are based on electrosampling, not catch rates. The fish are there, they are just difficult to catch. I am confident that this is because the fish in Burke Lake are just smarter than your average bass.

look at the head on that thing! how did you catch her?
