Please Help Me Understand Crappie Fishing
sometimes the crappie will bite when the bass won't. some people want a fish to pull on their line and they don't care what kind it is as long as it will bite. also, some fisherman are more interested in the prize of catching fish and taking them home to eat. Crappie taste better than bass and you can catch dozens from one spot.

Does braid cause more 'backlash'???
not heavier braid. Heavy braid is extremely easy to pick out.

Snakehead recipes ?
Just get big fillets from the gill plate down to the tail. There is so much thick meat up by the gills that it would be a waste not to fillet the whole thing. From there, just cut the fillet into small pieces and fry them.

Northern Virginia Fishing
I just said something so he is aware of the inaccuracy. Now he will probably get an electronic scale and get better at judging fish by eye and not look like he doesn't know what he's talking about later on.

Norries bug
I used to t-rig them and they caught fish. They get ripped up pretty easily so buy a couple packs. I was told they were discontinued.

VA Partner
Parrothead, I'm glad you're still posting, it's been a while! We met in passing one time at Huntsman without even knowing we were both on this forum. That must have been about three years ago! I'd be glad to tag along anytime you need a partner!

Northern Virginia Fishing
those last two look believable, but the first three are definitely not 4-5lbers. The last two are very nice fish.

Let's Hear it Boys
50lb Test 12lb dia. ??? That seems huge! No, its right. 20# braid is for a spinning outfit. Personally, I would never put 20lb braid on a casting reel. Would you put 6lb test mono on your reel? Probably not, so why put braid with the same diameter on there? Go up to 50-65lb braid with the diameter of 12-15lb mono. The heavier braid is stronger, easier to manage, and I believe easier to cast on casting reels.

"more body"= not as limp IME I have used Sufix and PP and I honestly liked both very much. Never had breakage issues with either. Both were easy to manage. Tackle Tour compared three braids (including Sufix which is an 8 strand braid at 50lb test and greater) and Sufix got the highest rating. It is also the cheapest of the rated lines.

looking for a good spinning/baitcaster rod
x2 on what JFrancho said, except I might prefer MH for spinnerbaits most often...but it depends on the manufacturer; the spinning HAS to be at least 7' for me. As far as specific rods, I would suggest a Daiwa Zillion for the casting rod. I use a 6'9" MH XF for spinnerbaits and I LOVE IT. Another suggestion is the Kistler LTA series. I don't think you have to spend a bunch for a spinnerbait rod. The rod just needs to be sensitive enough to be able to tell bites from grass/other crap but if you have the money, you won't be disappointed with the LTA or Zillions For the spinning rod that range, I'd also suggest the Avid series from St. Croix. If you look for used, clearanced, or auctioned rods you might be able to find some other spinning rod options in your price range like Kistler LTAs.

What'd ya'll do this weekend? I witnessed a small scale riot.
yeah, some guy got shot my senior year. It was a bunch of thugs from out of town who were involved. That was also in Hunter's Ridge. You aren't allowed to carry on campus, but that could be a new rule. So you would carry when you went out partying?

I resent that. This is an isolated incident from a deranged individual. Plus he is from NJ. come on, Cherry Hill is basically one bridge length away from Philly... and isolated incident? what about the guy who was beaten to death last year over a spilled beer? Or the general reputation of the 700 level of the Vet?

The day after I said that someone with enough ambition could have loaded a dumpster with cans to turn in for money. And yeah, my friend found the front of a Motorola Droid and I found the battery a few yards away.

The funniest part is that the guy he puked on happened to be a police Captain. no, that's not right. The funniest part is still that he purposely puked on someone.

Spartacus? (Tv Series)
Spartacus: Blood and Sand? Added to my Instant Queue. Netflix has been recommending it to me but it didn't really look like something I would normally like. I've watched just about every other popular premium cable show thanks to Netflix, I needed another series to watch.

New symtre versus White stradic
I don't think I've ever had the bail on my white stradic close unless I hit it with my hand accidentally.

they're tending to their crops!!! ;D I'm just kidding. There are some Southside members but I think they might be more spread out so it's more difficult for members to get together.

upper potomac license question
Yes. You can fish the Potomac from Little Falls up to Harper's Ferry with a VA license. In the water, from VA, or from MD. Same applies to south of the WW Bridge.

Aaron Martens spraying water
yeah, I don't see why a little dish soap should be frightening anyone especially considering how much crap comes out of all those motors... Thanks for the explanation Matt. That is actually very clever.
