  1. Whatever you do, don't use fireline. That stuff is sooooo stiff and all this black coating comes off on your hands. This was my first braid to practice on BC and my hands just turned black like I just changed the car oil.
  2. Ok, I know for frogs this isn't an issue but how about jerks or topwater and everything else. For some reason, I keep thinking braid line is more visible to fish than mono/flouro. Do you guys use braid straight up with jerkbaits, etc.? Thanks.
  3. My smallest bass was about the size of a bass minnow. Maybe a couple of mm longer and slightly with more girth. I caught him in running water beside a dam fishing for bream to use as bait for strippers.
  4. I swear advertiser make simple things so darn complicated in those commericials. For example, that pasta cooker. So hilarious how they show it in black and white and then all of the sudden, color when they show the pasta cooker. They make cooking pasta so hard with all the spills and breaking. I mean, who makes spaghetti while drunk. My dad purchased the steam cleaner. Piece of garbage. What have you guys purchased off TV and been disappointed? Has anyone ordered those lifetime flashlights that you shake? How is it?
  5. Most beers outside the US have a higher alcohol content than US beeers. Maybe for the exception of some micro-brews. I'm not a big fan of Canadian beer or the mass produced US beers, but I would drink a Canadian beer before touching a Bud. I usually go about 7-8 before getting too messed up. I don't do it often though because why would you want to waste an entire good six-pack or more in one sitting, especially if it is good imported beer. Doesn't make sense to me. I love beer for the flavor and by no means am I an alcoholic.
  6. Any suggestions on how to avoid these? Thanks in advance.
  7. By design and methods of creation, which of the two lines is supposed to have more memory.
  8. No, it isn't good for Crankbaits. Go up to at least a medium. However, I will say that ugly sticks have no sensitivity whatsoever. But, they will last a life time. After you upgrade, you'll find a light stick good for bream and a med-med heavy, suitable for general catfishing. Good luck, pal.
  9. $18.00!!! I'm gonna have to put that on my Christmas wish list.
  10. Please, where do you find a Goldfish Crankbait? I have never seen one.
  11. I stumbled upon this while looking at my friends fish tank. Goldfishes are exotic compared to what a bass would see in nature. All the hanging fins and all. We were thinking, why don't people use them?
  12. If you're looking for some good southern fishin' states while in duty, TN.
  13. Just wondering about this and why I have never heard anyone mention using these techniques on spinning gear? If it is just a underhand toss, then why not? Thanks.
  14. I have never personally seen a ghost/ufo but this story was cool when my ex's pop told me. He works for the US gov. in Columbia killing cocoa poppies to reduce the flow of drugs into the country. He is a very respected man and never spoke of it until the day he told me. He said he has flown planes numerous times and has had extremely fast objects fly right beside him and then just dart off. He says there are certain speed limits and height limits which a particular plane can fly in a particular area. He reports all of them to the headquarters or so. You know, the place where they track things with radar. Everytime, they've told him nothing is there. He says this happens very often. Who knows, maybe aliens do exist.
  15. I am from NC too and have fished those waters! I have never caught one there but was in the boat with others who have. So, they are there. There is a 26 lb. striper mounted on my ex-girlfriend's wall that her pops caught. Live bait is best. Try to catch blue gills/large shade and hook them on. The hooks I use are gammy octopus circle hooks in size 1. We use tennis balls for a float but you could go without. It's awesome when you see a big one take the tennis ball down. For artificials, my friend just caught an 8 lb. this Monday using a blue bass popper. I've seen them caught on Storm wild eye shad swimbaits (though I have no luck with them) the salt water size. Huge. Also, the jointed Cotten Cordell crippled shade lures work good in CALM water. These have been my most productive artificials. Only one place I've seen carrys the jointed version. I can't find the jointed versions at BPS or Gander Mtn. If you go up 16 towards Taylorsville, there is a small tackle/hunting place on your left. I forget the name but if you see a Dollar General, then you're way too far. Trust me, you won't regret getting this lure. I've seen two buddies pull out two 13+ each with this lure. It would have been three but they both missed one. Also, Bass Pro carrys these lures with a white body and red head. For some reason, those work real well too. I've got them in jointed, solid body version, and "wobble head" version. I've had all of my luck closer to dams and running water but good luck on Lake Norman with all the water skiers and pontoons.
  16. I have a cheap (59.99) wader I bought to go trout fishing wih a month ago. I was just wondering, for the waders that come with the boots attached, is the life of the wader basically gone after the traction on the boot is out? Can someone who has an expensive wader testify to the comfort and traction they get from it as opposed to a cheaper one?
  17. I know this is a bass site but I couldn't get any reponses on other sites aimed more towards fly fishing. So, maybe you guys can help me out. I'm starting to fly fish and noticed the fly lines are expensive! For those of you who do fly fish, what are some suggestions. Does higher price really mean higher quality in fly lines or is there a point of diminishing returns? Thanks in advance.
  18. I have actually had a Mexican fella tell me that they laugh at Ameicans when we put limes in our beers. He said the only reason they do that in Mexico is to keep the flies off. I'm not much of Corona fan because I think it is comparable to Bud in America. Daniel, Corona has a bit of a skunky smell too. If you don't like beers in green bottles, try Stella. If you don't like it, I'll send you a crankbait for wasting your money.
  19. By location: Europe and Southeast Asia Brand: Carlsberg Elephant, Calrsberg orginal, Kronenberg 1966, Grosch, Stella, Guiness, ahh hell, all German and Holland beers. Try an Asian beer called Singh (it has some sort of weird dragon/lion on the cover) and Export 33 (green label). I love America guys but I hate the mass produced beers. I enjoy some of the local brews but still not as good as European beers. Your thoughts?
  20. I'm looking for the whole body suit, armor kind of deal. Not just the ones that come up to the hip area. I will be getting into a small stream which may be at chess level at certain areas.
  21. I'm going trout fishing for the first time next weekend! Excited as hell guys. But, I can't find anyone to sell me a good used wader. What are some of your suggestions for waders? What makes one good/bad? What price range? I don't want to spend 100 unless I absolutly have to. Thanks.
  22. Guys, I've been told that the weed guard sometimes prevents proper hook sets if too thick or long. I just got my first two jigs in the mail today (Dr. Hook Lures, Mustad ultara hooks) and was just wondering what some of you guys trim down the weed guard. Also, do I just cast and retrieve or do I jerk the jig vertically? Thanks.
  23. Does that mean that they have made a home there? I spotted them one morning and have come out to check the spot the following days and now weeks. I can't find them anymore but was just wondering if they were just out feeding or something. I do see baby bass, about the size of bass minows and I caught one 1 lb. last sunday. All the big ones have now disappeared but maybe I'm just not out at the right time. Anyone who knows a little about bass habitat want to comment?
  24. With all that said, what types of lures should be used during the colder months and what type of rigging works best. Should I still fish for bass near structure and fallen trees? Do I need to cast right into the middle of the lake? Thanks guys.
  25. I've been told, though never tried, that fishing sunglasses can actually help you see the fish in the water more. Is that true?
