Prototype Revealed
It's like the Owner Sled head which has a groove on the head to attach a skirt. But with your rig, you have the option of using what ever hook you want to match your trailer. Looks good!

Taxes on Tournament Winnings
You're right, I don't know why I wrote W-2. I get a 1099 as well. Thanks for your help guys! Time to start saving all my reciepts. Don't know why I didn't think of this before.

Abu Garcia first class people and service.
FYI- The actually breaking point of most monofiliments is actually higher than what is stated on the package. There are many occasions where people think they have a line class record but their aplication gets denied because the lines were stronger than the rating. Now i'm not trying to stick up for Abu, I agree that it shouldn't have broken, but I've never cared for most of the rods that they sell here in the states.

what size sammy does everyone use?
The 100 is the only one I like. In fact I love that bait, but I have a 65 and a 128 and I don't care for them at all.

Taxes on Tournament Winnings
I just got my W-2 for last years winnings and it made me wonder. Since I have to claim this as income, do you guys know if I can then write off my tackle purchases? Do you guys do this? I know I could ask a tax professional but I was just curious what you guys do.

Daiwa Drops Denny, Jay, and George
I could have sworn that I saw Denny's face in my BPS master catalog as being on their pro staff. And with as many Berkely ads Jay does, it was only a matter of time before he was all pure fishing.

Anyone fishing for snook these days?
I've lipped every snook I've caught. Of course more often than not it required two hands

What Kind Of Fish Is This???
Rod looks like a Cabela's Fish Eagle. I have a hard time believing that the fish ghost is asking about is a Gizzard shad. I agree with Hawg Bass Assassin and it looks like some sort of a chub to me but the problem with that statement is that there are as many types of chubs as there are soft plastic baits.

Quagga mussel update
Yeah. Do you ever hit up Peck Road Pit?

Quagga mussel update
There was a tournament at Casitas on the weekend before last and they turned a guy away because they found a piece of living rubber in his livewell. Banned from the lake for 28 days. A lot of guys aren't prefishing because if they get turned away on a prefish day, they will miss the tournament.

X2. I have five Morrums, a Revo, a Torno, and a couple of C3's and I have never had a issue.

Good stretchy line to compensate for fast action rod tip
Big Game. It is designed to absorb the impact of high speed trolling. It should work for your aplication.

Looking For A Guide In SoCal
I'm sure what Popeye suggested is great but if your buddy is interested in getting into some fish big fish at Diamond Valley have them contact Greg Silks. He is one of the original big bait guys down here in Southern California. But then again, it should be a full blown spawn when your buddy gets out here and may be looking for that.

Anyone fishing for snook these days?
Nice pic Gator! I second that. If southern california had the kind of inshore fishery that Florida has, I don't think I would be on this forum. Don't get me wrong, I eat, drink, and sleep bass fishing, but that's just because we don't have Snook.

fish head spin
I like to use the Fin-S-fish ;D I have had good luck using Fish Trap swimbaits, 3" Peal Blue Senkos, and Kalins grubs on the back I just read somewhere about someone using a Yum Woolyhog but I've never tried it.

Anyone fishing for snook these days?
I haven't caught a snook in years. I used to go out to Sebastian Inlet every year but I just haven't had the funds lately. I always went during the summer which was the off season so there were less people to fend off. Used to just slay them off the rocks at night on the out going tide with minnow baits like Husky Jerks, Windcheaters, Bomber Long A's, and Crystal Minnows. Bigest I ever got on a plug was 36". One day I was droping a 3lb Blue runner off the side of the pier to mess with the Jewfish and a 44" Snook just hammered it! I need to scan the pic of that fish. Another fish that puts up one hell of a fight that you didn't mention are ladyfish. I caught one that had to have gone 7lbs or so. It gave my medium action baitcasting tackle a run for its money

rapala sub walks
Thanks Dean but I live in southern California. I don't think that Cabelas would even dream of opening a store down hear. Bass Pro did but they never have any of the stuff I want. The only place I order from anymore is Tackle Warehouse.

St. Croix Legend Rods
Like Mike Bat, I also have three rods from the LT series and love them all but I don't have the specific rods you are asking about. What I can say though is that the 6'8" blank for both spinning and baitcasting is very well designed. My girlfriend has the Avid and LE casting verision and I have the LT spinning version. All great rods!!! You wont be disapointed.

You think hooks are expensive?
It hurts now but as you already know they are worth every penny.

Beat up hardbaits?
That Slammer looks sweet! Looks like you are putting your new airbrush to good use!
