  1. I had one that swam with a great S type of action but you had to retieve it faster than most. Problem I had was that the thing ripped in half on the cast before I caught a fish on it.
  2. ;DDude, that has to be the funniest thing I have read in a long time. ;D
  3. Nice toad!
  4. Nice fish! I just love a spoon bite! Now correct me if I am wrong but is that a black and gold Ardent reel? I haven't seen one in that color. Is it a new model? How do you like it?
  5. Thanks guys. That's funny that you say that, I am always wishing that I had some nice grass flats to fish! Most of the lakes down here are steep walled stuff. A lot of times i'm covering depths of inches to 30'+ on a single cast with the jig. It also makes it real tuff if you aren't lucky enough to fish off a boat, not much shoreline to walk on.
  6. Like I said, I'm just screwing with you. It think it is just funny because the stereotypical bass fisherman has a few pounds to lose. Enjoy it while you have it.
  7. Depends on what I am doing. If I am casting reactions all day I wan a good reel. If I am worming or jigging I want a good rod.
  8. Regardless of the size that is a nice fish. BTY, it looks like you could use a cheeseburger. Perhaps you should have kept one of those for dinner Just kidding dude! You are just making us all look bad.

Nice! That's why I love trailer hooks! Healthy looking fish.
  10. Oh I hear you, I have two and I think they swim too wide. I have never caught a thing on them but that could be because I don't have any confidence in it. I thought you were worried about the bill not being secured well.
  11. I know that people like to see pics with these posts and since I don't have a digital camera, I have never posted on here. Well I scanned a few pics from a recent outing to Laka Castaic. I don't remember the weight of these fish but I do remeber that the top five for my partner and I that day was in the 18lb range. There was a National Bass tournament that day that we would have won by two pounds had we entered but we didn't have the entry money that weekend. Oh well, probably wouldn't have done this well if we were in the tourney. These were my three biggest of the day and they were all caught on the same 3/8oz brown/green pumpkin Skinny Bear jig with Smallie Beaver trailer. I caught about 15 other fish that day but they were all in the 1.5-2.5lb range.
  12. I don't know if they have it out where you are but Izorline XXX and Cuda are my favorite and they come in bulk spools (1/4lb) for $10-15 depending on the line size. The price per yard is way cheaper than the $6-8 dollars you would spend on a filler spool of Trilene or Stren.

I think everyone covered this one. I like it on a T-rig or a shakey head.
  14. 1/4oz Rat-l-trap in baby bass 1/2oz Rat-l-trap in Clown Halo, Tequila Sunrise 1/2oz Rattlin Rap in the original Brown Craw and Firetiger (If you have any that you would like to part with just let me know) I have other more expensive baits but I bought them mainly because they caught me. The Japanese baits have great sunfish patterns but the bass out here aren't as impressed as I am. The catch plenty of fish and I don't mind paying for them but they just aren't at the top of my list.
  15. Have you checked it out? The whole front half of the body is hard but covered with a thin soft layer. It is just the back half that is all soft and segmented.
  16. I think those guys covered it. In fact I was fishing a buzz bait on Saturday and got hit when my bait was right in the middle of a wake set. In fact as long as the other boaters are out of my casting range, I don't mind at all because I feel that in general, the wave action makes the fish more active.
  17. This is a real Rock Bass. Rock Bass is a local term for Striper in some parts of the country but it is like calling a Bowfin a mudfish, it is not the real name. As for me I have caught Largemouth, Smallmouth, Striper, White Bass, and rock bass in fresh water. In saltwater I have caught Sand Bass, Calico Bass, Spotted Bay Bass, and White Sea Bass.
  18. ;D These are great. About eight years ago I was out at Lake Mohave with a some friends for a weekend of wakeboarding & what not and I brought along a small assortment of tackle and my UL rod so I could do a little fishing while everyone else was on shore drinking. I manged to hook myself in the back of the head with a tiny trap on a cast while a group of good looking girls were watching me catch schoolie stripers. :-[ Man did that suck.
  19. Like Matt said it is tuff to speculate on this but it has been my experience when I fished in Florida and here in California that the rain doesn't stop the fish from feeding, it just changes their feeding behavior. They will often relocate to newly flooded waters. First thing I would do is look for where the runoff is still entering the lake and fish around there. The current will make the bait fish active and the bass should be there feeding.
  20. Years ago Fin-Nor made some Ahab-lite spinning reels and they were the best reels I have ever used. The ones I have are over 12 years old and they still work great and have the smooooothest drags I have ever used. But the company got into making some cheap crap shortly there after and has changed hands at least two or three times in the last few years. I haven't seen any new reels on the market that would make me want to change.
  21. I thought that this post was going to be about a "record of my favorite blues" I use the 7/0 Owner hooks on my 10-12" worms and I don't miss many. You just have to give the fish time to eat the worm before setting it. I have noticed that when using a worm of that size, if I get smacked real hard, it is normally a 1-2lber. Smaller fish hit a big bait with the intent of killing it while a 5+ wont hit as hard... normally.
  22. Thanks for your help guys.
  23. I have the casting version of the Legend Tournament and I love it. It is the same blank as the spining version. No hook keeper at all but at least you can feel good about buying a rod made in the USA With the finest Japanese components of course I use a little Hook&loop tie as a hook keeper for my DS any ways. I would have just as soon gone with the Avid though, I perfer the handle it.
