I think it was Flechero, but you may want to check the archives. I don't remember so good anymore.

Avid you and I have a lot in common, but "futball" isn't one of them. I lived in the U.K. back in the days when only three channels were available (early 1970's). I got so sick and tired of having "football" shoved down my throat that I haven't watched a game since, and never will. I'd rather watch grass grow.
  3. Triton_Mike you need to get you eyes checked. He may be prettier than his avatar, but so is my dog. If you want to see pretty, then you need to meet Glenn's wife.
  4. Thanks Garnet, a very nice tutorial. Gawd, I love this site!
  5. I am sixty-one years old. I have lived and traveled the world and done things that many men only dream of. I have few regrets about the life I have led. I have been very happily married for 37 years. My kids are grown and gone. My grandkids are too far away. I own my own business and have enough money socked back to allow me to be picky about the projects I undertake, so that makes me semi-retired. Given the torrential rainfall we have had for the last six weeks, and all the trouble I have had getting my new(old) boat on the water, before I die I would like to go fishing in my boat. ;D
  6. When I lived in England back it the 70's the Brits loved to eat cucumber and butter sandwiches. I still can't figure out why.
  7. My new (old 1990) Bass Tracker has a console flasher that still seems to work. My only experience with Flashers was when I was in college back in the late 60's. I'm happy to say that I never got caught. ;D Seriously, I have no idea how to use a flasher and would appreciate any input. My unit has only one knob - On/Off/Sensitivity.
  8. WELCOME! Go to the home page and start reading the articles. There is more information there than the average human brain can absorb in a year!
  9. Go to Wal-Mart and buy yourself a large pair of Cojones. You certainly need tham.
  10. Hey goldenone, a man my age has to make a living. ;D Unfortunately the only phrases I was taught were "Welcome to Wal-Mart", and "I'm not sure, ask one of the other Associates." ;D
  11. They say bad things come in threes. Well, I guess I'm living proof of the adage. Many of you may remember that I bought a used Bass Tracker a few weeks ago. Between downpours I have been slowly getting the boat ready for the lake. My biggest problem was that the previous owner had an FM/AM radio installed in the console. Someone's precious little darlin decided to steal it, and in doing so, ripped out every wire anywhere near the radio. When I got the boat home I found that electrically, absolutely nothing worked with the exception of that related to starting and running the big motor. After replacing the bilge and live-well pumps, plus the bow-mounted locater, I set about solving the wiring disater under the console. I'm 6'3" and tip the scales at about 215. Needless to say, I had to learn to be a contortionist to get under the console and then make the repairs. I finally got everything working and planned on putting the boat in the water yesterday afternoon. My plan was not to go fishing, but to just put the boat through its paces to determine if I had any other gremlins to deal with. So, I backed my Suburban up to the trailer, hooked her up, and pulled out of the driveway, turning left onto the street. At that instant, my power steering failed. Luckily, only the two right-side tires of my truck went across the soggy lawn of my neighbor across the street. I never even considered taking the boat to the launch site. It took everything I had just to drive around the block and park in front of the house. I managed to manhandle the truck to the repair shop this morning and found out that I was looking at a $300 bill for the repair. Bad thing #1. Yesterday morning I woke to find that my computer had died during the night. Thinking that it was a minor problem like a power supply failure, I took it to Best Buy and turned it over to the Geek Squad. Five minutes later I was informed that the problem was in the Mother Board, and that it was time to buy a new computer. $400 later I had a new computer, but was forced to take it to the Geeks to have the info on my dead computer transferred to the the new Vista-based one. That was another $100. Bad thing #2. So far, bad things have cost me $800. Last evening I threw some meat on the Bar-B-Que pit. Not a bit to my surprise the spark igniter didn'tork. Bad thing #3. It's not an expesive repair, but it just added to a REALLY crappy day.
  12. Keith, I guess it must be the Red River. I was at WM's latest Superstore in Tulsa last week looking for a part for my boat repair project. There was only one employee in the entire Sports department and he was so intent on re-stocking his shelves that he completely ignored me. I literally, walked around him three times, but he gave me nothing more than a glance. I could have stopped and asked him a question, but I was already PO'd. I found the part I needed in in Automotive. On the other hand, compare a Wal-Mart employee to a Home Depot employee. At least 80% of Home Depot and, for that matter, Lowe's employees seem to know where every item in their store is stocked. Almost without exeption, if you ask a Home Depot employee a question, he/she will immediatly stop what he/she is doing (unless dealing with a current customer) and physically walk you to the correct isle.
  13. Frogtog, That was really funny, but I know the story is a total fabrication, because of incident # 8. At no time in the entire history of Wal-Mart has any employee actually asked a customer if he/she could help. That's one of the reasons why the chain is able to sell so cheaply. Zero customer service. To get assistance you have to rope and hog-tie one of the "associates" and then pray that the "associate" has an IQ above that of a potted plant. ;D
  14. In Oklahoma it's called a Pike-Pass because our turnpikes are all toll roads. In some areas you have to drive through a toll booth and the max speed is 35mph. In other areas you drive under an sensor on the turnpike with a max speed of 75mph. The Highway Patrol just LOVES to hang around the high speed areas and nail those folks without a Pike-Pass. A violation light lets the cops know which lane the scofflaw is in and they are perched about 100 yards in front of the offender. The fine is $150.
  15. That photo was a heart beaker. I couldn't bring myself to stop looking at it, and cried like a baby.
  16. One of the few good things about getting on in years is that with your children out of the house, the wife finally realizes what a pain in the azz you really are. Personally, the more time I spend on the BR site means that I spend much less time whining about her fetish for crap TV. i.e. Reality programs. We have each reached a peaceful co-existance and are both happy.
  17. The specific answer to your question is yes.
  18. Welcome! I suggest that you go to this site's Home Page and then scroll down to the Beginners section. It has a LOT of information. I read every article in that category, plus many other articles available in other categories before I ever became a member. There is a gold mine of information here.

Glad to see that you are making progress Glenn, but it is obvious that your real means of making a living is getting in the way of your attempts to properly maintain this site. I suggest that you reduce the number of your daily hours of sleep from four to two. ;D ;D ;D BS aside Glenn. You are doing a remarkable job under very difficult circumstances. Many folks don't realize that all the work you do to keep this site great up and running is done after you get home from work. I not only admire you, but I admire your wife for her indulgence in your BFR obsession. Thanks for everything you do. Mike
  21. DE Lee, thanks for some very valuable input. The stainless vs aluminum connections at stress-points is one I wouldn't have thought about.
  22. For small water I fish out of a raft. It is equipped with a trolling motor and a depth finder. It suits me just fine.
  23. I agree with the majority. The "general rule of thumb" was from www.boat-ed.com. Personally, I anchor with about a 2 to 1 ratio. It works on the lakes I fish. But then I use a real anchor.
  24. Welcome to the forum. That is a very nice looking bass. I'm very sorry that you have such a difficult time with the proper spelling of words. Does your computer have spell check software?
  25. The general rule of thumb is the you let out 7 feet of anchor rope for every foot of water depth. This allows the anchor to dig in to the bottom. Instead of being dragged along in a near vertical position
