  1. there are some great list of things to take. one thing take a new wire harness, both truck and boat. I know its sounds wierd, but I take my boat to cananda twice a year , 1,500 mile round trip each time. one year I hit a ground hog and it pulled the wire harness off my truck. I had no lights for the trailer. I didn't have a new harness, so at 4:30 am on the side of the intersate, I was hard wireing the trailer lights into the truck so I could get going. I still have the scars from the exhaust pipe burns on my arms ( truck had dual exhaust out the back.
  2. I have not fished in the pro crappie, but I have a 2005 PTX 175 and its a great fishing boat. same hull as the 175 PC. I have a 25hp merc ( hp limited lakes) and it runs 23 mph (gps) with just me in it. so that 40 should push it good. and I think the PC is lighter since there is less decking. I like the boat alot easy to tow, easy to run, and fished great.
  3. Heading up there this weekend to. great time to go. fishing weeds? well the bay is almost all weeds, so no matter where you look you will find them. drop shotting will work in the deeped water, try it in the "shoots"( the canal between the bay and the lake. If the lake isn't that bad go out and try some DS. I would say worms, senko, flukes and the good old tube. the bass should be up on their beds so you will be able to see them. I'll be in misery bay in my Tracker PTX 175( my big boat is down so the tracker is going) where are you going to lauch at. I could tell you some spots. also the mariena bay is also a good spot
  4. if you take it to a good shop they will check the hub while they are rebuilding the prop. and fix it. atlest the great shop I go to does that. and a re-fab prop ) at least an alum. one) is just as good as a new one.
  5. just installed on and it was easy. just read all the instruction a few time to get a good handle on it and unless you have all the other options most of those wire you do not even use.
  6. I have 1, my dad has 1, my buddy has 2, and we keep 2 of them at our camp and have not had one problem with any of them. most are over 4 years old.
  7. run away. If that motor needs rebuilt your looking at $4,000 easy. trust me. I know I had a 125 merc rebuilt.
  8. the greatest day I ever had with my power drive MK was the day I hit a big wave on Erie and it was ripped off the boat. Oh a great day. power steer.....Never again.
  9. I guy that is in my club uses them and said they work great. the would help me . on my MG the prop never gets weeded up.I just give it a shot of high power and the weeds fly off. the weeds get stuck on the shaft. so it wouldn't help me.
  10. yes I have a spare, or two. I have 3 boats and they all have the TM's on removeable mounts. so if my TM would go down I could put one of the others ones on it. I just hope that doesn't happen. going from a 109# to a 52# or 45# would suck
  11. those are both 24volt not 12 volt motors I would go for the digital motor. It is worth the money. I have a tour series Digital and it is great. That 82 digital tour series is an great motor. I have the 109# 36 volt motor
  12. the "pee" is just a by-pass that shows you there is water running. if the motor is not over heating, its getting water, and the thermo is ok. I bet the "pee" line has some dirt in it. My Suzuki get like that all the time when I run it in shallow muddy water try a few things. 1. get a paper clip, straighten it out and stick it up in the "pee" hole. This will help get any dirt out of it. You can do this while it is running and it will show you if this is working. 2. If that dosen't work. take off the hood and see where the hose is going to the "pee" hole pull it off and see if anything is blocking the hose One other thing. I have a 15hp merc that had the same problem right after I had a shop work on the motor. ( not the shop I always use, I was on vacation in Canada and It stopped pumping water so I need it fixed right now, so I used a shop at the lake I was at, had them put a new impeller in) the motor pumped water but not real good, so when I got home I took it to the shop I use and they pulled the new impeller out and it was in backwards
  13. I have a 2005 Tracker PTX 175. Its 17'6" and powered by a 25hp merc 2 stroke. great fishing boat, and holds up very well, very easy to tow, launch and retrieve. yes that 25hp is underpowered, but as with my boat. that 25hp is because of HP limited lake. I know many guys that have 17-17'6" trackers with 20hp-25hp on them and love them. like I said, its for hp limited lakes. However I will fish it on any water. It runs 23mph (on GPS) with just me, 2 guys and I get 19mph. Livewell full and tournament load with 2 guys and 17-18mph. I never really liked trackers and heard all kinds of bad thing about older ones. My father-inlaw and I went halfs on this boat in 2005 and I am glad I did. I love it. great boat. If you get it you will love it. great started boat
  14. this is what I use on my v hull, and what we use on our pontoons, that sit all year in the water. I use Simple Green and a light scrub brush. spay it on and scrub the line off. make sure you rinse well. it will also take all the wax off, so you will need to wax again.
  15. it is written on the top of the page " paid advertisment" so how can they "make it a little less obvious"
  16. If you want to protect the boat, I would just bite the bullet and spend the $$ on a custom cover. I bought one for two of my boats 10 years ago and they still work great and never let any water in. I also travel with them on and that is great. I think I paid around $600, but spred that over 10 years + it is well worth it. Here is a picture of it. My V hull has a walk tru windshiels and it has two poles hloding it up. It also snaps to the boat.
  17. what style minkota? I had powerdrives that would act like that and the whole pedel would need replaced. after replacing the pedel 3 time in 2 years I got rid of that motor.
  18. I wouldn't wire it up to the starting battery. My dad's boat was set up this way when he bought it and every time you would start the motor it would turn off the DF. I am running itno the same problem with mine. I run a 36 volt tm and the Df gets its power from the 12 volt side of the setup and both share the same ground. my problem is weird. It will interfer only when the TM is running at a slow speed (whitch is what it is run at 99% of the time). but when I ramp the power up past 50% the interference goes away. I think I will try the filter, if that dosen't work I will have to rewire it to another battery
  19. look in BPS or Cabela's both sale a "small boat" bimini
  20. bought a black and decker 2,4,6 amp auto charger at walmart 3 years ago for $25 still works great. I know atleast 5 people that use them for their boats. will charge a battery overnight.
  21. why don't you look for a small metal bass boat. like a 15-17 foot tracker or similar boat. your s-10 can pull those style boats. I have a buddy that pulls a 17 foot lowe bass boat with a 50hp on it with his 2.2L s-10 and it pulls it just fine
  22. most boats have the TM mounted on the left, but yopu can mount it on either side. when I bought my boat it was mounted on the right. When I bought a new TM I mounted it on the left. the reason was that it was easier to lift it with my right arm coming across my body than on the right.
  23. I have a MG Tour seire Digital TM, Its a 109# 36 volt, but its a cable steer not a power steering model. Ihave had it since 2005 and it has been great not one problem with it and I fish 100+days a year. Best TM I have used
  24. I have never been in that model, but I have never seen a metal boat run rough water better than a LUND
  25. hit crooked creek last week and they were hitting good. got 2 over 5 and a few around 3.5 heading to cross creek this weekend ( firts tournament of the year) see how that pans out.
