No Switchable Anti-Reverse
Back reeling is kinda like the rapala floating minnow great thing for it's time but there are so many better options out there today I don't know why anyone would buy one or why stores stock so many. Was at the bait store just the other day and they had a bunch in a bunch of colors all with dusty boxes. Anyways my point is today's drags and reels are not the reels of the past they have come along way

Ugly stik gx2 youth spinning combo
Think in bout picking this up for the boy and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. This will be his first rod he's 8. I've been letting him use my old Fenwick I have laying around but he wants one he can call his own so I figured old surprise him with it next time we are in the boat. The Fenwick is a 6'6" medium and it's in my opinion to long for him so this one bein 5'6" I like that I checked the rod out it seems like it will do alot the reel not so much lol. I'm just kinda kick in it around at this point was wondering if anyone out there knew of maybe a better option keep in mind he's 8 so nothing too expensive.

New To Shaky Jig Head Fishing For LMB:
Vmc ike rugby head is the one I'll be trying out this year dunno why but I really like the looks of it and it uses an ewg book I think they build them on skip gap hooks no spring keeper it has that ewg bend in the shank to hold the plastics. The owner ultra heads have been a staple in shaky head for along time can't go wrong there well maybe in some situations lol

Fishing a jerkbait with one treble hook?
Try the katsuage ( i think i spelled that right) out barb hooks I think they remove easier but still keep the fish pinned very well. The hooks found on vision 110's

Ned rig for kids
I basically taught myself to bass fish as dad and Grampa were bobber men. The bait that got me started was the pond spinner size baits from strike king you know the small ones , roster tails, and beetle spins. My only problem with beetle spins were they didn't weigh enough so I t rigged em with a bullet sinker in front. Oh and I sed fished a 3hook rubber worm the pre rigged ones. You know the ones u see in the store now a days and go man I can't believe I used those but purple white stripe caught me alot of bass amd gills and crappie in my early years

Not sure about Brookville but up here in NEcorner the walleye aren't done yet so it'll be a bit before the bass start our water temp here today was 49.2º not sure if that helps at all but I'm not sure where Brookville is so I'm assuming it's not close to me. On a side note went out in the wind and light rain this morning and managed 3 bonus walleye can anyone say lunch time

Daiwa Tatula rods
Why would it matter if the reel foot gets scratched? Am I missing something I thought tatula use fuji reel seats.
-
Line wraps around behind the spool
I have found this generally happens more on cheaper reels as the specs aren't as tight and they use cheaper material so they wear out faster. Also dvt is correct it generally occurs more qhen u fill the reel to the max. I run cheap reels on all my bluegill and crappie rods and only really have problems when i fill them to the max. I also change reels every couple years as they wear out rather quick bc I am not nice to them they get thrown in the dirt dunked in the water stepped on ECT and for $30 I just replace them once they act up.

Scrounger Jigs?

Spinnerbait/Chatterbait box

Rod
A ton of money is not very specific to me a ton would be around a grand but 4-500 for a nice set up is reasonable which I know to some seems like a ton. If u are looking to stay at the bottom end of the spectrum say the 2-250 range take a look at dobyns fury shimano exage or Powell rods all can be had for 100-150. As for reels I'm a lews fan take a look at the tournament mb they retail for 139 but can be found cheaper elsewhere. Another reel a lot of guys on here race about is the daiwa tatula

Hammer rods...tell me more
Hammer rods...whos using them and for what? I'm looking at the 6'9" medium micro guide for top water poppers and a back up jerkbait rod but am curious what everyone else has experience with...i have read nothing but good reviews on them but have also read they run a power lighter then expected. Is this true right now I have a dobyns 705 cb running multi duty can anyone compare the two

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
Just start fishing in the other boats livewells...i have this debate all the time in my boat. All my friends think I catch more fish because I fish in the front of the boat. I've offered many times to trade them places it's all about making good casts and good decisions. Old rather make one good cast a t a dock then 2 alright casts. Learn to break down cover better then the other guys and never be afraid to slow down. I find more and more people want to what they call power fish which i call race fishing. Its always funny because my buddies in the back of the boat always want to cast way in front of the boat to beat me to a dock (race fishing) and instead of making a good cast from a good angle they get two poor casts at a good dock. I always laugh then make one good cast sometimes two at better angles and usually end up with fish which then I hear well it's because ur in the front I always smile and offer them to come control the trolling motor which always gets turned down. Just remember with that many boats ur always batting clean up. Fish it like the guy in the back of the boat should

Favorite bass lures/color for bonus fish
As the title states what's your favorite lures to throw for bass that always manage to pick up a few bonus eater fish...i.e. I like to go to a certain lake around me and fish a 110 or spybait or drop shot in morning dawn because I can always pick up a few walleye and perch in the process for dinner and still manage quite a few bass while doing this

Chatterbait, spinnerbaits for searching in spring

7' Medium/Heavy Rod $125 Budget
All good choices so far also take a look the shimano exage rods they retail at $99.00 so you'd still have 30 left for extra gear. Not a big fan of the mojos I used to be but there have been so many $100 rods pushed to market the mojos are average at best
