  1. the only model ild change her for would be maybe a new slp model just on my jerk bait rod. but ill wait til my local shop has one on hand to handle one first
  2. i was goonna purchase these this spring for a trip up to traverse bay. they are farely heavy to help you keep them down on bottom. i never got around to ordering them sincem y trip was canceled
  3. i have and thats not rigging one lol
  4. wow someones a little testy
  5. i actually prefer the oval shaped ones do to the split part is always on the side ad you wont risk it coming undone
  6. well said well said think of the clear as like a camo it just lets light through to help break up its pattern to keep the fish from really gettin a good look at it so you get that reaction strike more or less. and like blue said clear water clear bait
  7. i neko rig lizards with strait tails with the neko weight in the nose of the lizard so it looks like its just bouncing along eating stuff on bottom
  8. ya im not one to smack them on the water either guess i just got a bunch of bad ones. now i did manage to catch quite a few fish on them but man not enough to break them. im using a farely soft rod myself its the dobyns fury 705 cb which is a 7ft mh moderate action rod. i dunno like i said they just kept breaking so finally i just bought something else it gets pretty expensive driving back to the bait store 2-3 times a week even if they are replacing them for me
  9. am i the only one having bad experiences with these things. they keep breaking/cracking right where the second color is on them all the way to the bill.
  10. well if the locking nut is ok with ya ild really take a hard look at dobyns. that is one thing they are very well known for is a good balancing rod. i fish dobyns they are a great rod and balance great with lews reels
  11. i think you will be hard pressed finding a rod off the shelf or custom that balances directly under the reel considering the rod would almost have to balance there on its own. short of adding weight to the butt which defeats the purpose of wanting a lighter rod. the rod tip just has too much leverage on the handle to balance at this point
  12. what rods are really worth there MSRP though
  13. its a decent jerk it has its time and place. paint seems to hold up just as good as the others as well.

    people are still fishing these??
  15. live targets and spros. price is more but they hold up well
  16. expensive but worth it. i just wished they tied them on there jigs rather the rubber bands saves me alot of time
  17. do not buy a tp1 speed stick they are garbage alot better options outhere for the price
  18. i caled dobyns just last week or maybe the week before and spoke with the guys for this exact same set up they suggested a 744 now whether you go champ or champ extreme is totally up to you
  19. thanks fellas appreciate the insite
  20. agreed now shhh dont let the cat out of the bag
  21. i fond myself fishing in 15-25 fow this time of year always wondering while fishing if there is a better option for lure presentation, or if i switch wondering if i made a mistake. so here is my question what factors do you guys think about to figure out what technique you are going to use or atleast concentrate on and spend more time working? like i stated i find myself out deeper like 15-25 and sometimes as deep as 35 with a real sandy bottom crystal clear lake so i usually look past the shaky head and use a drop shot. my problem is i only have one "finesse" rod so its a real pain to try and switch back and forth. i know i know buy another rod but at the moment i cant quite afford it
  22. of course...shhhh
  23. it def has its place in my arsenal of jerkbaits. its one of those baits that are just different but work its def dif then what most people are throwing
  24. try a neko rig have had good success with that this year
  25. its a completely different action. very loud rattles more eratic twitches
