  1. Here’s an example. I went out couple weeks ago in Massachusetts. Last time I fished before the freeze. I went with the normal shallow pond baits. Jerkbaits, glides, lipless cranks. Didn’t catch a thing. All the fish I caught were on a flipping jig with rattles and a strike king rage bug, flipping shallow trees. That to me is a pattern. Heres another example. Last month i went out. Another shallow pond in MA. Wasn’t a great day but I caught some fish on lipless and jerkbaits. It was random. I couldn’t figure out a pattern. They were on the wind blown shore but that’s the only thing that had consistency. One fish on the jerkbait was up shallow the fish on a lipless were out a bit deeper in a different area.
  2. A free rig with a floating plastic bait?? Hmmmm
  3. Thanks guys. Im so pumped! One of my best winter days. Never did well for bigger fish in winter! It was so windy I was a bit nervous. I was afraid I was going to flip my kayak if I got a bad wind gust
  4. it was so windy, that everything was a wind blown shoreline!
  5. First trip of the year. My first fish was a 5lbs 10 ounce. Super stoked, never got a winter 5 before. I hit a shallow pond. Never been here in winter but I fished the area where I did well last March. Wind was cranking couldn’t get em on jerkbaits glides or lipless. The wind was making it really difficult to fish. On my way back to the ramp after an hour or so of struggling I hit a section of trees with a jig. Missed one right off the bat. Pitched the jig way up, that 5er smoked it! Next cast got a 3. Worked my way through these trees picking off a few more. total was 5 bass. 5-10, 4-2, 3-0 and 2 dinks all on jigs in the trees.
  6. Today was the first time I fished a jig with rattles. I did well flipping jigs to shallow brush. Kinda surprised since I’m up here in MA it’s been cold. But we had heavy rains and warm temps last night, they moved up. Don’t see that often in January Any ways. When do you throw jigs with rattles vs jigs without! My buddy, the one who made this jig, only uses jigs with rattles.
  7. I’ve been strolling for years. Just how I usually fished those style of baits. Bottom strolling, cast out hit bottom, steady reel and twitch over bottom. Sometimes stopping it incase the bait rises. Or they hit on the pause. I do this with my hair jigs as well.
  8. Yea that makes sense the weed guard looks unnatural! I’ll loook at the flashy swimmer! Thanks bud
  9. Oooo I like that! I had envision a swim jig with a weed guard and a swimbait! Never seen those heads before
  10. Yea I do jig heads on swimbaits a lot. But I’m talking about a swimjig head with a swimbait to fish swimbaits in the weeds without any hang ups. Definitely going to try that this year. Maybe add a bigger swimbait to the swimjig head
  11. I’ve been really interested in swim jigs. Really excited to learn them this year. So I was curious, any one use a swim jig head with no skirt. Just a swimbait on the back? Sounds like it could work. Something different. A swimbait coming through thick weeds!
  12. These are Massachusetts fish! I’ve had so many followers , nips and bites on this thing. This single bait blew open my glide bait game! I’ve tried other glides like Swaver, shine glide stuff like that never liked it until I bought one of the DS floating glides. I fish it shallow over weeds! I haven’t really fished summer time in a few years. So I’m not sure how this bait will do but I’m sure it’ll be fire. I love this bait in fall, winter, ice out, pre spawn bite!
  13. Someone say floating glides??? I LOVE FLOATING GLIDES!!!! Years ago I kept thinking about them. Finally got one. Had the best season I’ve ever had with them. I caught an 8-2, 7-5, 7-1 and many fish under 7 on this bait in the first month of fishing it. For me it’s one of those baits that will work all year. They are so versatile. Add heavier hooks to make it sink. I love them when the suspend or extra extra slow sink. You can fish these where other baits get hung up. I fish these in shallow water especially in the spring and winter. Super slow! Slow reel bumps The floating glide I love is a DS customs glide. He makes 6.5 8 and 10 inch baits. I really love the 8 inch bait. He can make you any color combo you want. I now have 6 glides. Plus his other baits
  14. I’m thinking of grabbing a 2 hook rig with blades but take the blades off and add screw locks for more swimbaits I fish in clear water and I feel like the blades will be too much. But who knows I could be wrong
  15. They have a longer center arm. I’m thinking of bending the bottom 2 wires up, having the center arm with the hooked bait be lower. Also put a bigger bait on that Does it flex? does it matter if it flexes or not?
  16. I live in MA. We can only have 2 hooks. I’m thinking go buying a bama rig. Their flex rig sounds awesome!
  17. Sounds like the lighter ones would be the best. I have a lot of places that are clear water submerged weeds, milfoil and hydrilla . Except for a few places where a beefy one would be best. I have a place that reminds me of Lake Okeechobee. Tons of reeds and milfoil! Other places loaded with pads. I’ve avoided places in the summer cuz it’s so hard to fish! Glad I found swim jigs
  18. I started fishing swim jigs last year. Got some good fish on them, really love how weeedles they are. I was surprised to see how well they come through weeds. I started using the Beast Coast workingman jigs. It a lighter jig. Been thinking about grabbing some Beast Coast gorilla swim jig. It’s a beefy jig When would you use a light swin jig vs a beef swim jig. What trailers would you add on to a beef jig
  19. Come down and fish the cape with us! Dogbone and myself are always getting out all winter. Just a short drive
  20. That’s how they normally feel this time of year. Just heavy weights.
  21. If I want a bigger profile, deeper or colder water. I tend to fish jigs slower more methodical. T rigs for shallower fish more active. I don’t fish worms or senkos. I fish creatures and craws. Don’t know why.
  22. Been grinding the jerkbait for a year now. Feels good to have some decent ones I know that work. The biggest fish this year 7lbs 10 ounce came on a jerkbait
  23. Fished 2 new ponds today in search of my first winter giant. First pond was a grind but i found them. Got 3 bass biggest was 3-6 on a jerkbait, missed a good fish on the lipless, got a crappie and a few picks. They were on the wind blown shore. They wanted a jerkbait and lipless. Saw a lot of fish on top though. Hit a random pond real quick before sunset. Got a couple big picks and one dink bass. Jerkbait and swim jig
  24. It’s a blessing and a curse
