I may bre the minority here, but I like a med action rod for my spinnerbaits as well. Depending on what you want to spend, the absolute best rod for this particular action from my experience has been my Steez Wylie rod - it's only available in Japan though. I bought mine through PLAT.

Hold the rod tip low and point it at the bait. While you crank the baitcaster sweep the rod tip down towards you. you should get 2 cranks per rod sweep. Get a rythmic action going based on the lure's response and bingo - you be walking the doggie.

No baby bass for me - the shad pattern though - beautiful.
