  1. Either one would be a perfect choice. To me Tatula is a little smoother and also cheaper. The tatula LT come with many model 1000, 2000 2500 and 3000C. I end up with Daiwa Tatula 1000 LT (already have ci4 2500F)
  2. Plus nice beautiful cork knob on kageLT
  3. They are definitely here, last evening I saw one fisherman slay them around shallow rip rap with moving bait. I think he got one about 5lb, because he kept yelling “it’s giant” about 10 times. He got them good otherwise about 4 bass in an hour and the bite shutdown right before sunset. On the other hand, I had no luck with any lol.
  4. I call it a success, many time I went out for those gills and came home empty handed. It is not just about the size and species, it is about technique, gear and bait intended to catch them. I didn’t down size just to catch more bass but I spent money on those gears just for them panfish. The bass in your area should be in prespawn mode already, Don’t target too deep and soak the bait longer (senko is good bait to soak)
  5. i think you don’t know what I’m talking about. The bearing you see on spool might stuck inside this hole. if you are not sure what you are doing, I also think it is better to have professional look at it. You don’t want to damage the reel any further.
  6. I guess, make sure the line is not caught in between the frame, make sure when you press thumb bar, spool move freely, loosen spool tension all the way and make sure spool can move in/out. If all these checked, the only thing that might cause spool stuck is bearing. Now I’m not sure which STX you got and if any bearing on spool like my ALX.
  7. Maybe the bearing stuck inside the race? Some reels with bearing on the spool shaft might be a bit harder to pull out.
  8. And that is my point exactly, thank you.
  9. We are not debating cheap vs expensive reel, are we? I didn’t say Blackmax is bad just comment on smoothness of the reel on display which is still individual base on experiences? I caught a few on abandoned blackmax which my friend found after moved into a house. I cleaned up oil and grease and it is still work. A lot of grease can make a reel smooth but not fluid smooth like the one with precision gear.
  10. How many reels have you tried? It might smooth on display and crap out after a few uses. The smoothness when reeling with no line/load doesn’t mean a d**n thing. Try daiwa alphas SV that one of the smoothest reel, the bantam MGL is not even close.
  11. I can tell you, I learn 90% from forum like bass resource and you tube even from Googan Squad where a lot of ppl hate but watch their channel. I used to fish where I came from but that was totally different here.
  12. To cover all those Lures you might have to go ML 1/8-3/8oz or L/BFS 1/16-1/4oz. I’m not sure where you are but I believe not is US. If you can still fine Shimano Zodias L/BFS, that should work(only available in 6’4 and 6’8). I have Majorcraft Benkei L/BFS 6’7 and Go Emotion L/BFS 6’5 which I use a lot for finesse lure.
  13. They both good and you should try both. SLX XT will cast medium to heavy weight lure better but daiwa win hand down in smoothness. Shimano is a tad smaller and more comfortable to palm for smaller hand but Tatula with MagforceZ should be easier to learn how to cast or even skip. I still have some daiwa all alphas frame (smaller than Tatula) for lighter lure but the rest are shimano.
  14. It might but not by much if you use same 4 ply braid like Power Pro original, try soft braid 8 ply like PowerPro super slick, daiwa J-braid x8 and the noise cut down tremendously.
  15. I don’t see any problem of using Light to Medium, fast or Xfast rod as long as it can cast Ned. Remember 1/16oz with Zman TRD total weight is close to 3/16oz (any spinning rod should be able to handle this just fine). Now if you wanna use the same setup for trout you should concern more about trout lure weight which normally lighter than 1/8oz. In this case, I op for Light to ML at least you can cast 1/8oz kastmaster or in-line spinner. Line, typical line for small spinning reel is thin braid/super line, less twisted and cast further. Using leader is also depends on location, bottom structure at your lake. I Around rock area I would use 6lb FC or copolymer leader other than that I would go straight braid. To sum up, my favorite rod/reel For Ned 1/20oz or 1/16oz Jig head. 1 shimano crucial 6’8 M/XF, Shimano Ci4 2500 size. Line 10-15lb braidz 2. Shimano Sensilite 6’6 UL Fast, Shimano Sahara 750 or Daiwa Tatula LT 1000. Line 8lb PP or 8lb Nanofil always with FC leader. This also double as my panfish setup that cast cast 1/16oz true weight just fine.
  16. Daiwa Tatula LT is nice super light weight and super smooth, but in it smoothness it is kind of dry smoothness. I fish with Stradic ci4 2500 size before I bought Tatula LT, reason was the same as you, light weight. I’m happy with my purchased.
  17. I did the same thing, lay my index finger on top of the line sometime even with shimano reel. he must be using 20lb leader with 50lb braid.
  18. I use 4-5 wraps for 8lb and above and 6 wraps for 6lb and below. Smaller the line the more wrap needed. Once i get no more room or tag end, I start pull the tag end a little tighter and move my finger to hold closer to the end.
  19. You gotta be kidding me, drinking in public? I used to live in Los Alamitos only a mile from that park.
  20. Very simple, 8.5lb on 4” senko weightless.
  21. Seem like you are pretty well experienced in baitcaster, I’m not sure why you get DC reel and expect too much from it. Just like other said DC should be good for inexperienced on in some special situation not everyday use. If I have money laying around, I might get a DC reel but not for any of it features just for the sound so ppl around me know I use DC reel ?.
  22. Most of the handle should be interchangeable, drag star on the other hand some will some won’t. K and DC pretty much the same frame, cast control cap, drag star, gears should be able to swap between them. BTW if I work for Shimano, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to swap parts between each model. It is your solely modification and that might void the warranty.
  23. Jig for me, I lost too many fish on Jig especially when I’m on floatable device. I don’t have problem on land BTW.
  24. Some politicians are not so smart especially in California. You can slide for option of small/medium, large/XL and XXL. I’m 5’6 150lb and size small/medium fit me perfectly.
