  1. About 1/8" from top. I am fishing 20lb big game as well.
  2. I'm having trouble dialing this reel in. I am mainly throwing 2-3oz baits but am constantly backlashing. The only time I am not is when I set spool tension really tight but I am not getting much distance. Ive set the spook tension most of the time to where the bait falls st a slow and steady controlled rate. I have had best luck so far with 4 out of the 6 brakes on. Ive tried the stock brake setting out of the box which was 3 on 3 off and I've also tried using all brakes while trying different spool tension settings. This is my first swimbait combo (fury 795, tranx 300). Im also thinking it may be my casting technique as im not used to fishing such a large rod and reel combo with a heavy bait. Ive watched some videos online and it seems like most people use more of a lob than a cast. Do these large swimbaits normally cast as far as a crankbait or spook. Thats what ive been comparing my distance too. Any tips or help? Fwiw, I have used casting reels my whole life, mainly 100 and 200 sized low profile reels with no issues
  3. Sweet beaver
  4. I throw 4" easy shiners with 1/8oz ball head on spinning gear.
  5. I use a dobyns fury 704 and 735 for the jig weights you listed
  6. Seems to be a lot of flaws with these rods. I'll stick to dobyns lol
  7. Trilene xl on my spinning reels and Berkley big game on my casting reels. Tried all different lines and always go back to the Berkley products. I only use braid for frogging and punching
  8. Trilene xl or big game
  9. No need for it in my opinion
  10. 59 degree water temp in southeast NY today on a shallow weedy 100 acre pond. Tough fishing. Been tough last few weeks. I've never experienced a "fall feed bag" probably because all my lakes are shallow and weedy with no shad. Primary forage is bluegill and perch
  11. Anyone throw these on braid? I was fishing them on mono with real bad line twist even with a swivel above. Not sure if the braid would twist as well
  12. I out them in the front seat. Butt end is on ground tip points towards the rear of car. Rods sit diagonally if that makes sense
  13. anyone know what size hooks are on the 4.5" (3 hook) model? they look like a #2 or to me. i want to replace with kvd triple grip trebles. thanks
  14. Bill Lewis original rat-l-trap..ive used red eye shads but had a bunch that would not run straight and run on their side
  15. original power pro. gt a spool of daiwa j braid x4 for free when i bought a daiwa fuego ct. going to give that line a go when i need to respool. cheaper than power pro too
  16. Not to go hijack the thread but how do you like the daiwa j braid x4? I recently got a free spool when I purchased a another fuego ct
  17. Tough few weeks for me l. Keep fishing!
  18. I would add a medium powered spinning rod
  19. you mention setting the external brake dial to 2.5. is that just setting the dial in between 2 and 3? i have a curado i and always thought you had to set it to the the number on the dial.
  20. Most guys who fish jigs on a zodias fish the heavy model.i would be fishing a different power rod with a 3/16oz jig vs a 3/8oz jig
  21. I don't own any of these rods But I've felt both in the store and the zodias is far more sensitive in my opinion . I actually hated the way the e6x felt
