  1. @The Baron , our fishing gets better once spring turns into summer for me anyway. Dead of winter and heat of summer are always best for me , spring spawn and fall transitions not so much. The very beginning of fall cool weather can be pretty good around Halloween but for the most part the heat is where it’s at. Granted I’ve never been to Ontario but I’d bet those fish will bite during a heat wave and I’d also bet you can find em !
  2. I just grill the breast rare, they have no skin on them and are vacuum sealed when he gives them to me
  3. Whips might help , like they use in the ocean
  4. I had to drink some creek water once, I would not recommend it but we were in the backcountry and the filter pump broke. I didn’t get sick but I’m sure it happens . Granted my brother got Giardia without drinking creek water haha
  5. I never set sail without a gallon jug , never know what might happen
  6. @Jar11591, my buddy gives me a whole yeti cooler full of ducks every year straight from the rice fields of Arkansas . No legs or fat but still delicious ! I have to cook them for about 5 minutes instead of a couple hours with no fat
  7. I have that book ! 😂 Had it since I was a kid
  8. In this scenario I might just have to say it was trying to kill me and ended up on the grill ! 😂
  9. I can’t send anyone my used socks , that’s just mean
  10. That’s a win, more meat on a bass and they are better tasting than bluegill and crappie
  11. No clue. I can’t even remember if I caught 4 or 5 or 6 fish by the end of the day so i definitely can’t calculate ratios
  12. Worm. They never learn
  13. Thats what the ichthyologists always told us, I can’t see thru the water enough to know for myself haha

  15. Spent the weekend down at the lake, mostly hanging out with friends and swimming with their kids and dogs and camping (in the yard 😂) with my niece . I finally got to fish some from 2-3:30 pm on Sunday in the 92 degree heat. Water temp was 87-88, I knew gar would be my best shot at catching something. Went to my favorite spot right around the corner from our dock and despite constant jet ski traffic there were 20-30 gar sunning just under the surface. Tossed a cotton Cordell ripplin Redfin wake bait and a monster immediately hooked up and snapped my line, knew I shouldn’t have used a good lure for gar haha. Then I tied on an extremely crusty husky jerk and boated one After a few more passes around the cove I figured I would toss a senko , a nice bass grabbed it and the gamakatsu nano alpha 4/0 round bend came thru again, hooked the fish nicely (thankfully) because that fish fought hard for its size. And I got a tiny dink bass on my gar bait Then it was popping quite a bit of lightning outside so I ran and hid, even tho the storm missed 😣
