  1. Cool deal! Wear a life jacket and just paddle around close to the bank for a while until you get used to it fair warning you will probably find it very fun and next thing you know you’re buying a hobie
  2. Hahaha . Rule number one don’t let go. Rule number to if you do let go, use pinky on rod hand to stop the rotor. I do indeed have my drag set even while using backreel, I like it to slip a tad on the hook set. But once I know it’s a big one I click to backreel and play him out like that, usually don’t hear any drag if I do it right. It’s only that last run when they see impending doom that I worry about
  3. I’ve seen several of DC YouTube videos where he searched out the muddiest water on the lake so maybe he did mean something else , we will probably find out after the tournament when he puts out a video recap haha
  4. It’s never good to bet against cox, I forgot about the whole bucket thing
  5. I’ve never really thought about it , I think I usually drag with the rod abut half sideways, like randy Johnson pitching arm angle maybe
  6. Yeah I always thought that meant muddied up and/or flooded
  7. Hey you never know, might catch a duck
  8. Believe me, none of them are lucrative haha 1. Wildlife removal/exclusion 2. fly fishing instructor 3. food delivery 4. kayak/canoe/paddleboard rental and shuttle 5. Cutting grass i used to be in the landlord business but the boss said never again food delivery pays the best, might have to move it to the top of the list but I have a lot of boats and water close by so as long as bills are paid I’m all good
  9. I thoroughly enjoy laying the cold steel to their little fish heads and fryin em up with some taters mmmmmmmm
  10. I remember what I spool on them In the words of John prine, “I forgot to remember to forget”
  11. You sir have hit the nail on the head. I don’t put much stock into the weather pattens because the bass don’t live in the air and they don’t know what humans think they should be doing great video, your wife was cracking me up on that first fish
  12. I typically do! Then again it’s windy here about 1 day out of 10 or 12
  13. Haha . This makes me laugh everyday at work, everyone tries to google their skunks away before they hire me
  14. Nah that’s your tale I’m sitting on mine
  15. I had too many fish make a super fast dive at the boat on your home lake and pull the hook, that’s when I started backreeling. It’s a instant reaction to a speeding fish instead of loosening drag. I’ve caught 40 inch gar that fought like a tuna and let them backreel for what seemed like 100 yards in very short amount of time basically it’s the ultimate way to deal with super fast fish
  16. No love for buddy gross on the home pond?
  17. Yeah I’ve been in the boat with them, it ain’t as easy as randy blaukat makes it out to be
  18. Seems like they had a bassmaster classic on grand with water temps in the high 30s a few years back and they smashed big fish. Approaching 50 degrees might have the fish on the move/transition and not quite so predictable
  19. Heck I didn’t know there was an actual term for it. I like it!
  20. Most everywhere in the country is , it’s human nature to think the past was way better than the present. If I had a dollar for every single time I hear somebody say “I’ve never seen the water this high” or “I’ve never seen the water this low”……………. pull up historical data and it’s that high and that low every single year for a century. People don’t really pay attention that closely
  21. What’s the systemic issue? Sorry I honestly don’t know
  22. Old decrepit mamaw Muskie
  23. If the fish was 20 years old, I’d say it’s DNA is swimming all through the water if it’s that big a problem, don’t fish for them
  24. Maybe one day! I’m approaching the old dog that can’t learn new tricks status
