I love using night crawlers and other live bait for bass. Yes it takes skill as some have posted above. The only negative is the jack wads that have to shun the tactics as well as the fishermen that use them. There’s lot of them out there, even a few on this forum
  2. I shot a squirrel today with the .177, it was avoiding traps
  3. By my calculations, that’s about 4 decades worth of tackle
  4. I fish a few spots out in nowhereville middle of the lake and my GPS will get you right to it but the whole wind, current, waves, situation is always a little different so I fish until I really hone in and you will then remember where it was next time by sight, especially if it’s productive.
  5. Sounds fun to me! Spinnerbaits work pretty well here too, just not when I use them there’s a fella that used to dominate all night tournaments with a heavy one down deep on old barn foundations. I think Jason Christie used one almost the entire elite series event in Knoxville and got a top 10
  6. School of fish that wouldn’t hit a plastic worm but bit a spinner bait? That sounds like a big foot crossed with a unicorn to me
  7. Fathers raise their kids throwing fly n rind on the highland reservoirs here. I also think it accounted for most of @WRB’s monster bass
  8. All my rods are a little different. I hold them all different kinds of ways. Mostly 2x2 or all 4 in front but any combination works
  9. When I see carp in the river I have to try to snag them, it’s an addiction. It’s also not as easy as you think. Well I’ve usually got a grub on so I try it most of the time, reach for the quickest thing before the carp swims away. Some of the bigger smallmouth I have caught were while reeling a grub next to a carp. I call them wolves among sheep
  10. Honestly I have better luck triangulating with land marks
  11. I always warn people when they come over to my house and try Islay that it tastes like a log from a fire that burned out yesterday . But i do love it hahaha everyone around here is scots-Irish, we can’t help it
  12. Will big fish Jeff be joining you in the grand tradition?
  13. I fish 20 lb line in places where fish have broken my 12 and 15 lb line. Reason: don’t want to repeat. Example: in laydowns
  14. Here in the eastern jungles, I cut down a small holly tree years ago that was up against my house. Then I dug the rootball out of the ground and I store a canoe upside down on top of the area. To this day when I flip the canoe over, there are little holly trees growing under it. Quite the contrast
  15. Luckily TVA prevents a good bit of the flooding here but sometimes they still can’t. The dams do hinder some fish species migration but they benefit of less flooding is pretty nice before TVA nobody could hardly even grow a backyard garden without it washing downhill
  16. Rain is good, fish love water unless of course you live somewhere between Virginia and Maine, then it just floods out all the rivers into a chocolate milk rampage
  17. We don’t need no stinking app!!!
  18. @Tennessee Boy, I’ve eaten four of them. Not good yet not bad I only recommend it if you’re stomach is really growling
  19. Crazy. That’s a monster
