  1. Only one way to find out ....... ive never experienced a cold front in the summer
  2. People certainly scare fish and make them nervous..... but they still have to eat. If you make it to a place full of smallmouth where nobody fishes, it’s usually like taking candy from a baby. Then again you can still catch them in a crowd, sometimes very well if you figure out the the magic that particular day
  3. I guess my invite to the pork cook out got lost in the mail??
  4. Sunscreen also helps cover up sweaty fisherman odor if you go out to eat on the way home from the water.........
  5. Ive been known to do that about midnight when I realized we had no bread
  6. I fail to remember and am reminded every year in the late spring that it requires more carbs to climb up and down ladders the hotter it gets outside. I was climbing at the rate of a sloth by 4:30 the other day. Got home and ate supper, all better. Eating a hot meal with sweat dripping off your nose is not always fun but sometimes necessary
  7. That all depends on how much cash you've got! I prefer trying to figure it out myself, which is ironic since I'm a part time fly guide. I'm suppose I'm more of a fly casting instructor . Guides will teach you a ton and shorten the learning curve. Then again some of us enjoy the learning curve part
  8. I started working at a fancy resort as a fly fishing guide in ‘07. This was the first time I ever heard of a “fishing shirt.” I thought there were only t shirts and church shirts. I have to wear them to work up there and I absolutely can’t stand them. Long sleeve button down shirts made out of paper towels is not what I want to fish in. If I’m going fishing after work up there, I take off my “fishing shirt” and put on a cotton t shirt. Cotton has gotten a bad wrap in the outdoor industry but it’s still a multi billion dollar product and I love it. It breathes waaaaaay better than any of that new crap. The answer to the OPs question on why fishing apparel changed is simple: MONEY. If they convince you that you need a $30 shirt to fish in, they win.
  9. Hahahaha! That got me pretty good, I laughed out loud when I read that one.
  10. I don’t think my boss will allow me to sleep all day haha
  11. Update that largemouth to 15.2! Gabe keen caught it in chickamauga 2-3 years ago And the coosa spots are the meanest fish ever was
  12. Wow I bet that was fun!
  13. There's a guy with an underwater drone that used to upload his footage on YouTube. Most of it was from chickamauga lake
  14. Between this and the bass forecast app I'm thinking of taking up a new career in selling @Koz the latest greatest thing in fishing once a week........ (Insert poking with a stick emoji)
  15. I'm going to try it this year by god! Already tried once and there was lightning all night so I slept. The sleep part is going to be the hardest, midnight is usually the latest I can hold my eyes open
  16. The ones I had were de liars. The scale were accurate until they rusted
  17. T@Jigfishn10, it was some kind of peel and stick Jazz, not a great product but I reckon it will do and it was very cheap. It was like cutting graham crackers ! But with determination it can be defeated . If you look very closely it’s caddy wampus but it looks good if you are standing up haha
  18. Either that or she ate a muskrat for breakfast
  19. Bet that was fun. Monster fish have a way of escaping , that’s for sure
  20. I have 3 of those all completely rusted! They bring back good memories though. The measuring tapes don’t even work. I might need to haul off some trash ........
  21. Deal! I looooove catching them out of their deep winter spots
  22. Hahahah. I was hunting through my boat trying to find one that I wouldn’t mind leaving down there in the weather. Bingo! I strapped it to a dock post, no danger of theft .......
  23. This post is mainly for @Jigfishn10 because of his sense of humor. My mom always wants manual labor and a boat ride for Mother’s day. She is worried about our lake house because it’s pretty much gutted so she wanted me to put down some flooring and a vanity in a tiny half bathroom. As you might expect, I got there before she did and stayed after she left so I could get some fishing done! Also I transported one of my kayaks down there for more efficient fish capturing. Lastly, if you don’t have a life jacket as cool as mine, well then ........
  24. Thanks man! I love all your tips and tricks! Although I think geography plays a role as well because the best smallmouthing we have here is snowing sideways or 39 degree drizzle. I imagine a smallmouth that just got done with ice would rather soak up some vitamin D! What about those post rain toads you caught the other day? Was that a warmer rain? Nice smallie! Always dip after the first quick photo haha
  25. I can’t!! Haha. Lots of people catch a 15-20 lb limit in half an hour so I cant make myself fool with a 2 lb bass for that long
