  1. A guy recently paddled it in a canoe traveling upriver starting at the confluence with the Ohio . He had a dog with him too! I think it’s like 650 miles, I’m guessing he went upstream because the wind typically blows upstream. But the current can be crazy too!
  2. I only got one today but it was cool. I was trolling a break line, looking for a key piece of cover on the drop off like @Team9nine @Catt and @WRB are always talking about. I found what I think was a tree with a smallmouth on it! Dropped a spoon straight down and he attacked it immediately. I have never read anything by buck perry but I think he caught me a bass today
  3. Congrats @rv8apilot, I bet that water is raging
  4. I’ll go! But seriously I have tossed This idea around in my head for years. Get a group of people and just canoe and camp down all the smallmouth rivers in the US. Video the entire trip and somehow make money off it .
  5. Holy smokes. Maybe that’s fish had just come from a low country crawfish boil!!!
  6. I bank fished your home lake from 5-6 last night and got skunked. Water was still way too warm, probably at least sixty. It felt like a hot tub when I stuck my hand in it
  7. You just described my entire life of fishing experience in one post. Try all kinds of lures to no avail, throw trick worm and catch fish after fish
  8. I was born addicted to it, hopeless case. Treatment is useless.
  9. I'm going this weekend! Like @Russ E said, the worse the weather the better the bite. What really shuts them down is bright bluebird sky on my reservoirs.
  10. I would throw whatever jig you’ve got and if they are short striking it follow up with a shakey head or something. I’m usually surprised at how big of a jig a small fish will eat
  11. I still can’t believe they are having it here of all places. I honestly think smallmouth could win it but obviously largemouth can get bigger. Right now the flood gates are open on both the top and bottom ends of the reservoir .
  12. You learn something every day! Although I’m not taking them out of the shadow box
  13. 30 percent off some ocean front property in Arizona, PM me your banking info for details......... sorry I couldn’t resist
  14. I have two of my papaws lucky 13s but they are poppers not wake baits. Bomber long A is my fav, second place is storm jointed thunderstick
  15. The panfish bite has been pretty decent lately, the current is raging so any slower water has fish all in it . Water temp 53-56
  16. Good looking fish. I have always heard they don’t fight well but I can remember 2 or 3 that fought me like the devil. One was this summer trolling , surface temp was 82 and a 20” walleye slammed a crank and fought like a 5 lb smallmouth
  17. Caught a mixed bag , including a humpback smallmouth and a crappie with a lamprey on it. We caught largemouth smallmouth spotted bass bluegill white bass and black crappie , all in the middle of the day
  18. I would take the advice of @roadwarrior on this question but for me almost anything is still in play for December . Water temp should be around 55 so it probably depends on which part of the lake you are fishing. A lot of folks are going to be the throwing umbrella rigs in shallow water because the shad seem to gravitate there . Suspending jerkbait is also good . Finesse presentations will catch some big ones, think small stuff you might throw for crappie. There always a crappie fisherman accidentally catching big bass, especially smallmouth . Live bait is best about 99% of the time in my opinion but it can be hard to catch. Fishing the tail waters is a good bet in winter, always wear a life jacket near the dams
  19. I have only fished down that way a time or three but it seemed to me that seasons don’t apply down there . Another thread just popped up mentioned bedding fish in south Texas
  20. ‘‘Tis the season! Although I guess we have dressing not stuffing
