  1. Its hard to get it to focus any closer up on my phone but it says standard with a little plus sign just like the one you found pictured here. It has the rubber knobs that are commonly found on metaniums.
  2. Hey guys. I had bought a used shimano reel a while back with an upgraded carbon fiber handle which I was told is the studio composite brand. I also was told it is110 mm in length. It seems a bit longer than my other 100 mm handles so it would seem to be correct. It also has upgraded bearings in the handle knobs. I am not super familiar with the value on these type of upgraded parts and was wondering what a fair price would be if I were to sell the handle assembly. If anyone can help clarify the brand and value that would be much appreciated. The guy I bought it from said it was a studio composite handle, but maybe he was wrong. I do know some of them can get really expensive in a hurry. I appreciate any help.
  3. Frydog, on the weightless senko skipping aspect do you find it skips better rigged wacky style or doesn't it matter much. Are there better baitcast options out there for doing this with or do you think the steez sv would be supreme?
  4. I have been thinking of upgrading my crankbait setup for next season and was sort of debating between the two different rods: Dobyns Champion 765 CB and G Loomis IMX Pro 906 CB. I dont really want a glass rod and was thinking 7’6” would be the preferred length. I would be throwing 6XDs primarily, or cranks that dive in the 15’ to 20’ range. I appreciate any feedback on the above rods for comparison purposes, or other potential recommendations. I have a Daiwa Tatula Elite casting reel and get pretty good casting distance with that, but if there is something better for the application I would be curious to hear anyones input on that too. I typically stick with daiwa or shimano. Thanks guys!
  5. Same opinion here. I can see why some might like it, but its not for me.
  6. 854. Doesnt seem to get a lot of love, but its one of my favorites. It is fairly close to the 873 you already have though.
  7. I have heard you arent supposed to move the spool tension knob on the newer daiwa baitcasters these days.
  8. I tried a complete tear down a couple times in the past and ended up in the same sort of boat as you. There are some parts that have to go back in a specific way so it is really key to lay them out exactly as you take them off when disassembling. I now just do the basic maintenance a couple times a year to all the bearings and parts easily accessible on the opposite side of the handle side and leave the deep cleaning, brakes...etc. to someone who knows better with what they are doing every few years.
  9. Midway has a couple tackle bags marked down pretty good at the moment.
  10. I knew they did reel maintenance, but not anything with rods. Thanks, I will give them a call.
  11. I was thinking of having a custom rod made and was wondering if any of you had some recommendations for me as far as builders go. I am located in Minnesota, if that matters at all. Thanks in advance!
  12. I had the same issue last year. After some digging last fall I found out that they come stock with Decoy brand egg snaps in size 2.
  13. Anyone know if the TW discount would work on a Lowrance Ghost Trolling Motor?
  14. Hi guys, I am not familiar with ALX rods at all but was contemplating adding one of the rods from the ZOLO lineup rods to my arsenal. I am wondering how they stack up to other brands, particularly sensitivity wise. I am pretty familiar with g loomis, dobyns, st. croix, etc. If you have any experience with them for comparison purposes I would really appreciate it.
  15. Found out that it is for sure a decoy egg snap size #2 for anyone that was wondering.
  16. I got my 1/2 oz. jackhammer snagged a little bit ago and after some trials finally did get it back. In doing so though I bent up the swivel on it pretty good and I don't really trust using it until I get that replaced with a new one. I seen from Z-man's description it is a decoy egg snap but anyone know what size it is to order new ones? Thanks for any help!
  17. I would do the 894, especially if your in any cover at all.
  18. I noticed the exact same thing recently in the 3/8 size where I purchase them locally. I was thinking these must have been mixed up in the factory, or something. Clearly different hooks in the flouro packages though for the exact same jigs. They have got to be the regular hack attack jigs or something in the wrong packages. It is funny, unlike you I prefer the smaller hooks.
  19. This was my rod tube from the Midway sale. It was busted up in the middle and barely intact. Somehow the rod was okay though....for now.
  20. A well thought out video with lots of great tips and insight. Nice job Glenn.
  21. On a side note, I have used the bass pro version of this product and had good results. My assessment would be that it isn't quite as good, but pretty close for less money compared to the KVD.
  22. I have tried numerous things with the same exact issue and never had any luck getting that tacky feeling to go away. I just ordered a new knob set from e-replacement parts. I think they were $4 each. Problem solved.
  23. Well, there goes another $50 in the near future!
  24. Tackle trap has always done an excellent job for me. After reading this thread I might have to give DVT an opportunity also.
