Skittish fish in crystal clear quarries
quarries are one of the least known honey-holes when it comes to numbers and size. they can be very hard to fish, because they are so unique when compared to other waters. As my name suggests, I have become quite skilled in fishing clear water rock w=quarries, like the one you fish. If the edge of the quarry is steep, that is where the fish will be. If the water is clear, expect the fish to be feeding visually. When sight fishing, look to see if the fish are spooked by your casts. If they aren't, throw a white spook or sexy shad crank bait WITH rattles. If they are spooked, throw a 1/8 oz texas rig, with a 1/0 hook (VMC Sureset is best) and a purple or natural zoom finesse worm. This is the all-time best quarry bait. As for this rod, a medium or medium light fast action spinning rod is best. Get a reel with a good drag. light line and clear water you'll need it. use x<10 lb yellow braid on your reel. and a 6 lb leader that is 2' longer than the visibility, even if its 20', use a 25' leader. Make a cast near the bank or out deep. close bail with rod tip high and line tight. the bait will pendulum back to you and you can fish vertically this way. Another good idea for that is an ul dropshot, gold inline spinner, or light ned rig with white worm. pink is good if fish arent spooky. Use a frog, swim jig, or craw near the grass. jerkbait is great in open water. Trust me, if you do this word for word, you will catch fish. And lots of em. I have caught over 750 bass this year in quarries alone. all on those techniques. ps where are you located, as each region mines for different minerals in different ways. Keep in mind that many people die each year from quarry accidents. Do not go in the water. i could write a million pages on why you need to be safe, with personal experience as proof, but i don't want to give you PTSD. hope this helps. lmk if you need more advice

What rod do you use for this? I also like a finesse texas rigged q\zoom trick worm with a 1/0 hook and 1/8 oz bullet weight. I also love swim jig.

junior Driver's License?
In a few days I will hopefully be getting my Junior Driver's License. Am I allowed to drive with a boat? Am I allowed to leave the United States? If I get pulled over for a brake light on my trailer or something, how will the police likely react if I am not allowed to drive at these hours or drive a trailer. Any other advice about my PA Junior License is appreciated. Just want to be safe and know the laws so i don't get into trouble. Thanks

Bottom Contact Confidence?

Bottom Contact Confidence?
Its how i learned to fish, now i can't use it to save my life... You live in LA, and likely don't fish gin clear rock quarries, highland reservoirs, the great lakes, and crystal clear lakes with 30' of visibility and all rock. That is what works up here. just a location thing i guess. I don't have the type of lakes like you do. Its amazing how different fishing in certain regions can be.

Bottom Contact Confidence?
How do I. Fish a senko

Tell me what you think
I would also like to suggest 30 lb braid for the cranks. It will be better with backlashes. Also if we are going against all "norms", a spinning Rod or casting Rod that is lighter in power to enjoy the fight more? Not sure but it's your choice

Bottom Contact Confidence?
Will bass eat a jig even if it has some grass on it? Also, speaking of shakey heads, i can't get them to stand upright when I'm dragging them, only when I'm hopping it.

Bottom Contact Confidence?

St. Croix Avid "x" 6'-4" Mxf
Any one use this rod? Just paired one up in store with a curado 70. felt really nice. They also had a 6'6" M that felt good too.

Favourite swim jig
the strike king one i use is a light wire. i hook almost every fish with it. no hookset needed. i totally agree with you on that one! I was thinking of giving this jig a try soon: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/dirty-jigs-swim-jig-17ad8ugfswmjg14cllur/17ad8ugfswmjg14cllur?recid=Product_PageElement_product1_rr_1_2749_&rrec=true line tie and weed guard look good. hook is a mustard. skirt might be living rubber. its not a dirty jigs but it is advertised as such. probably a mistake. want to try dirty jigs as well

Bottom Contact Confidence?
I never really fish a true jig or texas rig much. A lot of the ponds and lakes around me have weeds on the bottom. This makes dragging stuff on the bottom difficult. In order for me to really up my game, I need to make this a strength of mine. I always fall back to catching them on the drop shot. I guess its because the bait stays out of the weeds. Being a visual person most of the time, I guess it also makes me feel like a suspended bait is more appealing than one on the bottom being picked up by a bass. I would like some advice on how to fish these lures. Im also terrible at the hook set. I know the best thing to do is only use that until I'm good at it, but i do t see that happening any time soon. I use mostly 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs and 3/8 oz tungsten worm weights. thanks.

Long vs Short Rods?
I started out fishing 7' rods when i started getting into bass. I then got a couple 7'3" rods. no I have a few 6'6" rods. I like the small rods for side hook sets, not hard sweeps but mostly pressure. i can't cast very far with them. I like longer rods so i can get way out there, but the issue becomes weight and balance. I was thinking that dobyns should be my rod of choice over 7'3" due to balance. is this a good idea. Also is a 6'4" M St. Croix Avid X good for jerk baits?
-
What combos go with what baits
a 6'6" M will work for poppers, jerk baits and small swim jigs like the finesse kind. a 7'6" heavy for punching and big jigs.

LINE CHOICE FOR DROP SHOT
Prettyboy reservoir? if its clear, use 8-10 lb braid and 6lb leader, more sensitive and durable, no line twist.
