10' Boat Conversion
I am currently fixing up my 14' semi v. I also have a 12' semi v on one lake with plywood on the seats and one hatch. It works great in rougher water from pleasure boaters with just a trolling motor. I am looking to fix my 1o' jon boat for another small lake. I want to put a piece of plywood on the front. with a single hatch. Will be using a trolling motor only. Will also reusing a transom wheel to bring it to the water. Any tips?

Tackle vs. Knowledge
I am relatively new to fishing, so with a limited amount of baits (my choice) i could likely catch fish. I like to do every thing possible in order to maximize my fishing outputs. I am now spending less money on new stuff, only the tried and true. I also spend as much time preparing to fish as i actually fish.

Smallmouth Question?
Today I was fishing a 125 acre lake from a boat. I was throwing a spook up shallow near lilies and docks. wasn't getting bit. Random cast out in the middle of the lake, 1lb smallmouth, a fish i didn't think was in this lake. If I want to catch more, where should i target? And will offshore sallies school up? Caught right in the middle of the left cove near south lake drive.

Getting past the dinks
Drop Shot, Carolia Rig, Vertical jig a Bald Bait, Spook, or Jerkbait. As long as the little guys aren't ruining your baits, they do no harm. Why catch nothing when you can catch a bunch.

Buzzbait Setup?
I plan on using my Strike King buzzbait this weekend early in the morning. It is sexy shad and 3/8 or 1/2 oz. i added a 3/0 trailer hook. I was wondering if i should use a 7' XH (1/2 - 2) or a 7'3" MH (3/8 - 1) rod? and a 7.3:1 reel with 50 or 30 lb braid. water is semi clear maybe 2-4'. thanks

Small Lake Fishing
I will be fishing a 127 acre lake this weekend. Map of lake below. Will be fishing two people out of a 12' jon boat. Our plan is to start in the top cove and work our way to the right. lots of docks along the bank. We will launch at 5:30 and fish spooks, ploppers, and buzzbaits. we will follow up our missed strikes with wacky rigs. we will work counterclockwise. What tips do you have for following topwater up with wacky rigs? What two baits work best if two people are throwing topwater? Where are the bass likely to be (top area is rocky, bottom is mud)? Where will the bass spawn? Anything else?

Small Boat Advice Thread
I would like to start a thread assisting all small boat owners. I have picked up a few different things over the last year or so that have really helped me out. So here it goes: - When fishing alone with only a transom trolling motor, travel backwards, standing or sitting in the back of the boat. if you are working a bank, this really helps to get better casts and not spook fish, you also don't have to move to the back every time you need to redirect you boat. - When making roll casts along the bank (presuming that you cast with your right hand), move clockwise around the lake, this will be best when using a bow mount motor. I like to do this early and late at night around weeds and wood and docks. It works best wth more than one person, keeping you from banging rods all the time. - When making pitches, work counter clockwise. this will enable you to get better casts and not collide rods. go clockwise if you cast with your left hand. - when making overhand casts, along a bank or channel, move forward. this will spook less fish. one person retrieves with their rod to the right, and one to the left. this makes you much more effective. - troll from spot to spot. Tie on a crank or spinnerbait. let 25 yards of line out. this works great for not only bass but pike and pickerel. best speed is as slow as possible. Please feel free to add your own advice. Thanks!

Next Weekend?
Next weekend i will finally be able to fish several of my lakes in the Pocono Mountains of PA. It will likely be rainy, after a warm week, but remain in the high 60's and lower 70's. I have 4 lakes to fish, one 60 acre lake by my house, that is not great, but i plan on using it to tell how far the bass are in the spawn. I will fish that lake for an hour around sunset, from the bank. I will then fish a 124 acre lake which is much better. lots of docks and lily pads. We will bank fish the marina docks from 9 - 12. We will wake up at 5:30 and launch our boat, traveling around the lake clockwise. We plan to fish topwater until 7:30. I will be throwing a spook, buzzbait, and diy bait that I'm about to explain. My buddy will be throwing a whopper plopper, which worked last year around this time. We will follow our short strikes up with a wacky rig. I recently broke the bill of my live target bluegill. Being an expensive lure, i kept it, but removed the bill completely. I now fish it as a topwater. Will this work? Also, do you recommend that we do the wacky rig follow up trick? Will the fish be on beds still? I plan on staying at lake two, but will move to a larger lake (3) or a reservoir/ reviver (4) if the rest fail to produce. What other suggestions do you have?
