I would definitely look used to try to get the most bang for your buck. There's kayaks in the $900-1100 range are pretty good these days like the Vibe Sea Ghost and the Old Town Sportsman. A used one should fall into your price range easily.

While MA is in the Herring range, it seems that herring are far more common in the lakes and ponds in CT overall. As for the Mass record, I don't think Sampson Pond even has herring, although it's probable that it did years ago when the 15 pounder was caught.

You seem to completely misunderstand the significance of this catch. Look at neighboring states records. New Hampshire: 10lb 8 oz. Vermont: 10lb 4 oz. Connecticut: 12lbs 4oz Rhode Island: 11lbs 3oz Maine: 11lbs 10oz. New York: 11lbs 4oz The MA state record is literally 26.5% larger than any other state in the northeast. If I was trophy hunting, I would go to any neighboring state. Maybe Dottie wins out, but there's not many other records that will likely stand the test of time.

If the situation was that some son of a billionaire put that gooey substance there on purpose and was filming people slipping on it to put that on his Youtube feed, then I'd say go for it but it's generally not worth the headache. Lawyers also don't want small cases, they're out there to make the big money. On the other hand sometimes lawyers do you a favor. Some years ago, my girlfriend got rear ended by some young girl who continued to give it gas after ramming us. I saw her coming and told my girlfriend to brake check her now and she did, and she made no effort to stop or go into the other lane - which was wide open. Commerce insurance decided that it would be a better idea not to pay us because she did not file an accident report. Legally she has 15 days, and because there's a police report at that point there was nothing more that they needed. A friend put me in touch with his lawyer friend and he wrote them a letter on legal letterhead - and didn't charge me a thing. Pretty quickly after, I got a call from Commerce and they offered me a loaner and an amount on my vehicle - which was a bit less than the actual book value, but that was expected but still about what I paid for the car a month prior. I said look, this car was the cleanest '01 Deville I would ever find and they increased that offer by another $1600. We ended up with an '05 that was a little more expensive, but that '01 really looked brand spanking new.

I have a Garmin EchoMap UHD 93sv with the GT54UHD transducer and I get very good imaging going as slow as 0.8MPH. Adjust your scroll speed accordingly and you'll be fine. I believe I read that Garmin says 3-6mph is ideal, but I've seen many users who said that they prefer 1-3mph and I've gotten up to 4mph sustained and would have to say that it looks just as well as 2mph. On my Bonafide SS127, not the fastest kayak available, 2.33mph is a fairly casual paddle.

I've always preferred overcast from the shore because sometimes they will move in to the shoreline and smash moving baits. On my kayak when I can get to the fish, sometimes it's easier to find them in cover and dropoffs though, so it evens out.

Yup. Google is horrible. I work with some mobile devs and to get something on the Apple store, you have to keep it patched and up to date and the vetting process usually takes a bit. Google approves theirs within minutes and once added, it won't be removed. I only wonder how many Android apps are sending your passwords to some random server somewhere.

I wish I could say that I once got skunked and threw my reel at a fish and knocked it out, but I just don't have that kind of money lying around. I'm not sure I baby my equipment since I use it, but I make sure I don't wreck it either.

Same can be said for computers, only if your phone is an Android well they basically accept anything in the store. I always joke with some friends let's make a phone version of Super Mario Brothers and put in a backdoor that sends me anything that looks like a credit card number because they would approve it and leave it there. In short, be careful what you download. That said, I'm not sure what virus scan is worth running on a phone and wouldn't noticeably slow it down and eat battery life. BTW your social security number expired in the state of Texas.

Oh one more thing. I've been told to use 3/0s where you would normally use a 4/0 and 4/0s for larger things like creature baits and the definitely do run large, so I have to agree.
