  1. The only way I've broken a rod was stepping on it or lifting a fish to the deck of the boat with a med or lighter action rod.
  2. I have a good number of their rods, most of my rods are the Champion XP models. Dobyns rod are good quality rods and feel great in hand/balanced. Depending on your price point and what lures you're planning to use would be a good starting point. I would recommend purchasing when equipment goes on sale. All my rod purchases were on 20-40% sales/discounts. A lot of time towards the end of November/December for some good rod discounts. If possible to find a store/dealer in your area to put your hands on the rods and check them out.
  3. Finally getting all the reels spooled up.
  4. I would return/exchange it for one that sounds better or fish it.
  5. I prefer the look & feel of cork, just my personal preference. I also tend to stay with certain brand manufacturers that use cork on their rod builds also. I have never owned a rod without cork.
  6. Go with either Daiwa or Shimano, the only reel brands I've ever used. All I currently use is Daiwa, but you shouldn't be disappointed with either brand. Maybe your reel may need a little lubrication.
  7. Falcon BuCoo, Lamiglas XP Bass, Powell Diesel. I used the Lamiglas Bass XP for a couple years and it was a great rod for the price.
  8. I have a good number of Dobyns rods and they make good rods. I bought a Tatula Spinning rod at a 50% sale so it was a no brainer purchase. I would still buy another Tatula rod, they are very good rods. The casting & spinning Tatula rods are legit rods.
  9. I use the Medium size for 8-14 LB test line. I purchased mine on Ebay, you get a pack of 72 for under $5.00.
  10. I like some of the import reels, they have those unique finishes. Gives you a little something different then all the others.
  11. There is nothing wrong using the same rod for multiple lures/applications. Although there are specific rod actions people may prefer to use for certain lures, but it is not a absolutely necessary to catch fish.
  12. April Fools Sale on Dobyns Rods
  13. I'm pretty sure none of their rods are manufactured in the USA any longer. I have seen Made In China label on the Cara & Expert models, so I would figure all of them to be made in China.
  14. Compare the two and see which one the fish prefer?
  15. I think the BuCoo rods are probably one the best rods at it's price point. The Falcon BuCoo is way better compared per say St Croix Bass X in similar catagory/price. I don't think you can go wrong with any Falcon Rod from $100-200.
  16. I think the situation starts with sweaty balls, then it turns to stinky balls.
  17. I usually fill about half the spool with compatible line size with monofilament first and then tie the mono-braid.
