  1. I'm using a KLX734 Med Hvy/Fast Action for my frogs/topwaters.
  2. I usually buy mine in bulk of a 100 pack. I mainly use #4 & #6 depending on lure. I usually buy from the link below or on Ebay. https://www.fishkds.com/apps/webstore/products/category/1440601
  3. I've been happy with the two Dobyns that I own. I have a Fury 705CB & Champion XP 703C. I also have been happy with my Falcon Expert rods also. Falcon warranty/cost is amazing, sent my broken rod for warranty/along with $20 and received my new rod no questions asked within 4 days. There are a lot of good rods out there to choose from.
  4. First fish I land a frog on it I call it "broken in"
  5. I have both the Tatula CT or Fuego CT. I tried the Tatula 100 but I just didn't like the fell in my hands, which is just my personal opinion. Mainly just difference between the Tatula CT that it has the T-Wing. I like both reels so I don't think you'll go wrong with either. Price wise they are very similar, but search around and sometimes you can find them on sale.
  6. I had one in hands it was tip heavy rod. I personally didn't like. If you looking for a rod around that price or less I would recommend the Falcon BuCoo can be picked up for around $70-80.
  7. Find something with stainless steel that won't corrode/rust. I just got a pair of these, they are kind of a surgical type pliers that you can safely remove a deep hook through the gills. I also have stainless multi-tool that you can pickup for cheap.
  8. They have the ugliest rods in the industry, just my opinion. Reels seem overpriced to me, I'd go Daiwa/Shimano. I'd try a Lew's before those reels.
  9. Received my 2 new rods yesterday.
  10. I think St Croix Bass X rods are from Mexico if I remember correctly. That was the worst rod I've felt in hand.
  11. Landed a fat 5lb 8oz pig on the crankbait.?
  12. I have 4 of the Fuego CT & 1 Fuego LT. I fish them 2-3 times a week, I haven't had any issues with them.
  13. Diawa Procaster. I think it was only $35 or $40, still in good working condition. I keep it around for a backup or pond setup.
  14. I've used Shimano & Daiwa. I tried a Quantum once, it didn't last a season.
  15. I would go at least 7' rod w/MedHvy or Heavy depending on rod brand. I use a bit higher gear ratio, I fish a frog with a 7:3:1 reel. Get some 50lb braid and what frog are you using, how good are the hooks?
  16. I use Flambeau 4007 boxes in my tackle bag. I use 3 of them for my crankbaits. I just have my 3 boxes setup for different depth, shallow, medium, lipless/deep diving. I use a label printer to label each box. I just buy the plastic hook bonnets from Ebay, I always stay tangle free no messing around with tangled hooks.
  17. I've only used Diawa & Shimano reels. I don't think you can go wrong on either brand. I just prefer Daiwa reels. Most of my rods/reels setups were on sales/discounts so always keep an eye out on deals. Rod companies I have experience with are Daiwa, Dobyns, Falcon, Shimano. I would also mention if your using moving baits like buzz baits, spinner baits, bladed jigs you don't have to have real sensitive/higher dollar equipment. I would spend a bit more on jig/worm rods for better sensitivity/feel.
  18. Last year I was smoking them on buzzbaits in the middle of afternoon in summer hot days. There was some green/scum floating algae around the edges of rocks/jetties. .
  19. Mine is working fine, have about a year on mine. Have been pitching in some heavy cover with mine.
  20. I usually fill the spool 60-75% with mono. I can spool 4 reels with mono backing and top off with a 150yd spool of braid. You won't be able to fill 2 reels not using backing. Simple money saving for me.
  21. Fuego CT is a great reel, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  22. I've been using a Falcon Expert "Froggin/Pitchin' 6'11"
  23. I throw any time of the day, if they're biting it I'm throwing it.
  24. I like the Bomber Square A & Bandit 100, the only bad thing about the Bomber is the hook quality. I replace the trebles on them new out of the box which isn't a big deal for me. I buy trebles in bulk so I'm adding a very minor cost into the bait.
