  1. Enjoy that nice weather, we are getting some more snow probably this week. Back to the 0 to -20 temps. Can't wait ?
  2. There is a good amount of rods under $150.00 so you'll have a lot of choices to look at. Good luck and hope you find what you like.?
  3. I would probably go with 7' Med Hvy, my next question is how much can you afford?
  4. I've always been a Daiwa or Shimano user for reels. Reel wise I would probably go Daiwa Tatula CT or Curado 200K. I always buy equipment on discount/sale, I never pay retail prices. I have a couple Fury rods and they are good rods for the price. Much better rod that the Bass X, I held a Bass X in hand and it was a tip heavy rod. I would wait until spring you might be able to find some discount sales in a month or 2. That's the main thing I like TW is with the return on rods. I've ordered/return a good number of rods that I've tried and return service is the best part for trying different rods.
  5. I had one for a couple seasons, for the price it is a decent rod. The main thing I didn't like was the reel seat/grip, it just wasn't comfortable for me.
  6. I like the Daiwa Tatula Elite 6:3:1, just a little bit more than $200 but worth it to me.
  7. I clean with Magic Eraser when I purchase them, let is dry for a day. Mask off rod blank/plastic with painters tape apply light coat of U40 cork seal. I usually do the same process every season or as needed.
  8. Both of the models are good rods. I've used the Fury for a couple seasons and it is a great rod. I'd say go with the Fury if you want to pickup some other lures to add to your tackle box.
  9. Hey watch it! Unless I lose an arm I'm staying with what I use.?
  10. I'd choose a Tatula CT instead of the Fuego CT. It is a better overall reel compared to the Fuego in my opinion. If you look around enough you can find a good deal for the Tatula CT. I've used Daiwa & Shimano reels, but all I own now are Daiwa's, just personal preference.
  11. Well I got my MRI today and results are stable.?
  12. I'm hoping the possibility of moving to a 1 year point, but we'll see what the next doctor appointment decides.
  13. 5-1/2 years ago my life changed and found that I had a giant brain tumor, so I had to go through 50-60% tumor removal. After that I had to go through radiation & chemo. Well Tuesday I get to go to the hospital for my every 6 month Brain MRI. So I hope this goes well again.
  14. Pretty much any 6'10"-7'3" baitcasting rod, MH action. Take your pick of brand/price you can afford.
  15. Just finished servicing all my reels. Complete disassembling, cleaning, greased/oiled the reels. Now I just have to wait for 3-4 months?
  16. I think the first thing is to figure out what you can afford to start with. Feel in hand, build quality/quality components. I don't like flashy colored rod blanks and I like cork handles. It needs to be comfortable to use all day long. Order a few different rods/brands from Tackle Warehouse that have good coverage for multiple rod actions/models. Put your reel on them and you can tell for sure if one doesn't feel the same/balance/comfort. If you don't like them send them back. I'm a exclusive Dobyns rod owner/user, all different models/choices/prices.
  17. I'd call whoever you purchased it from and get a replacement/exchange. If I'm spending $250.00 for anything I wouldn't accept a damaged product/item.
  18. I've never used a Powell Diesel cranking rod, but they are on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Sounds like it would be about what you're looking for action wise. It won't have any warranty, but for $62.99 you can't ask for much. I'd say if it you get a few seasons out of it and you catch some fish with it then you got your money worth out of it.
  19. Dobyns Sierra & Champion XP are currently on sale at Tackle Warehouse. Both rods are great quality rods, I've had both model series of their rods. I currently have Champion XP rods. You do have a choice on the Champion XP model if you prefer full or split grip. I'd go with the 734 which is the most versatile all around rod in the Dobyns lineup as long as your not trying to punch a 1oz into heavy cover. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-PROMOPAGE.html?from=basres
  20. Daiwa Tatula Elite & Coastal blemished reels on discount. https://www.midwayusa.com/baitcast-reels/br?cid=23916&targetLocation=%2F_%2FN-4294957311%2B4294957307%2B23916%2B4294907500%3FNp%3D2%26Nr%3DAND%28p_visible%3A1%2Ccustomertypeid%3A1%29%26Nrpp%3D24%26Ns%3Dp_metric_sales_velocity%7C1%26Ntpc%3D1%26Ntpr%3D1
  21. Hedge funds forced Cabela's/Bass Pro merger. In Sidney, NE a lot of people lost their jobs, they had a choice of a severance pay/eventually loose their jobs or forced to move.
