  1. Very smart getting that first marriage out of the way while you're young! Seriously though, I've been married 3 times. Let me give you my best advice. 1. Grab a mirror. "My ex did whatever, blah, blah". That gets you nowhere. You're broken (we all are) work on you. I had a marriage counselor tell me, "You can't be content in a relationship until you're content with yourself, alone". Wise man. 2. Have faith. I choose faith in God, but have faith in something. Especially the future. After two divorces I found THE one. I never made it past five years in any relationship. I'm 17 years into this woman and I cannot live without her. If something happened to her I would just cease to exist. You will succeed. You got this. Go catch some fish!
  2. I read the title to this and thought we were going to talk about ex-spouses.
  3. Hey, give him a break...it's winter. We're going to be talking about the most useless BS and taking stupid surveys for at least three more months. It's still better than Facebook.
  4. Very nice! Let me know if you can come up with a "I came home with lipstick on my collar black and blue". I'll buy some of those too.
  5. The only rods I fish 1/2oz or heavier jigs on is a MH/XF and a H/F from two different manufacturers (because everything varies between brands). Like @Catt said, the tip being close to the "backbone" of the rod lets me keep the jig in contact with the bottom easier, helps me in popping the jig over rocks or obstructions with just a little twitch, and makes it easier to drive that hook deep with less of a swing if they are biting softly. I'm sorry, I've never fished anything made by 13 so I can't speak to their true "feel".
  6. Last year I used the code to order two rods. I received one of the rods I ordered and I received a second rod that was not even close to the rod that I ordered. Not even the same species! I called, I emailed...for TWO MONTHS. Never got any kind of response at all. The 50% off turned into me paying over 100% for the rod I ordered and getting a rod I didn't want. Good luck.
  7. That's something to be proud of. Clinton has great bass but it can be tough to fish. Nicely done.
  8. This is true Yes they do. And it costs $10,000,000. I have preached this numerous times on here myself. This is why I got the Ultrex when I wanted the Force. I had a service center install it and it's only an hour away. There's no Lowrance service center, but the boat I'm going to look at is brand new so I'll make it the dealer's problem and demand that they do the take off, shipping, etc if there's a problem. At least that's my plan if I buy this boat. LOL Thank you very much. This is encouraging. I'm going to go look at the new boat this weekend. I don't NEED a new boat....but...
  9. I’ve been boat shopping (I shouldn’t be, but yet I am) and I’d like some real world opinions about the Ghost. My Ultrex was a game changer and I certainly don’t regret it, but it’s far from perfect. It’s loud when you rotate it, the GPS on the spot lock is very inconsistent, and the boat scale can’t be turned down enough to work well on an aluminum RT188. I wouldn’t ever go back to a Maxxum or Fourtrex, but it’s not perfect. I found a leftover new 2023 boat I like that has a Ghost and networked Lowrance electronics. If you have a Ghost or have switched from an Ultrex to Ghost I would really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.
  10. Agreed. I had a full subscription anytime I could afford it (and I usually gave away the swimsuit edition). They really had the pulse of sports in their hands. That is long, long gone now. Just like MTV that became everything EXCEPT music.
  11. That's it for me! Last trip out on Thanksgiving. Just ran to the closest lake for less than two hours. Five LM with the biggest right at 4lb. Had a fantastic year. Looking forward to spring already.
  12. Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnd....winter stuff. *Heavy sigh* It smells nice after it's shampooed though.

Ignore the grumps that like to pay extra for gas and buy roller sausages that have been there since I was in grade school. Buc-ee's is awesome. Fantastic food for super cheap. Every one I have been in (and my wife who is much pickier) had the CLEANEST bathrooms on the planet. Go! And bring me back a brisket sandwich please.
  14. Best value in fishing IMHO. Straight up fish-catchers on the cheap.
  15. My helper likes to stomp on her imaginary brake pedal!
  16. We need an opposite to the "solved" button...
  17. This is going to sound humorous, but it's also totally true. My top boat position for catching the highest number of bass is, "Blowing into the rocks" position. Love those 15-20mph winds. I even have my lake choices categorized by wind direction.
  18. I'm not one of those "storm the castle" morons, but I'm ready to man the ramparts and fight for this one. You took that at 6:12pm.
  19. Wow man, I'm really sorry that you're in this situation. That has to be disheartening. It all comes down to what you are willing to put up with and whether it's worth it. Fishing is my peace. So...I would either have a heart to heart with this guy if I thought I could help him, or I will scrabble up enough dough for a jon boat. Good luck to you.
  20. Stopped at a father and son liquor store that we love. Really good people. I know how to properly ask about what they have in back. This is our fourth bottle of the B523 Larceny. It's spectacular. The EJ 18yr was only $5 over MSRP. That's just honest business right there. These bottles will be lighter by tomorrow.
  21. Never caught anything deeper than 4ft and those fish were suspended in laydowns. Most were on the bellies in the dirt. Most important thing was fishing the wind. Windblown banks they were stacked up waiting for the baitfish to get blown to them. Good luck! Those are spectacular fish!
  22. Fall feed bag is on now. Launched at 8:30. By 3pm I had gotten 31 LM in the boat and failed to boat 5 or 6 other good ones. Two different times I was trying to shake my crank free from a snag and had a bass attack it and pull it off the laydown. I boated both of them and then told them how dumb they are. They are in line at the buffet. Look at the belly on this fish! I can't believe it's still eating. Also saw a bald eagle and got to watch 2 big bucks fighting about 30 yards from me. It was an A+ day on the water.
  23. +1 on both of these. I fished Thurs and Sat and didn't see another bass fisherman, but the crappie guys and the duck hunters were out in force. I don't mind sharing the lake with them. I frequently have to wait for the crappie boats to leave a decent bass location but I've found that I'm MORE likely to catch bass if the crappie guys have been soaking live minnows in a spot for an hour.
