  1. Going to Bass Pro is the vacation for a lot of people. And I still miss Cabela's.
  2. I love Tatsu. I bought the first one using the $100 credit for joining Amazon Prime and liked it so much I bought two more. Now I have 3 of the 1000-yard spools.
  3. The beach/pier carts I've seen near the ocean are made to hold a cooler, a white bucket and maybe a tackle box or a folding chair. They never seen to have a floor. One more thing to catch sand I suppose.
  4. From 2018 - they got their cells from China and assemble in Utah. Things may have changed of course. www.amazon.com/LiFePO4-Volt-Deep-Cycle-Battery/dp/B06XX197GJ "Question: If it's assembled in Nevada, are the components imported from overseas (China, Thailand, etc.)? Answer: Our parts come from all over the world. Our cells come from China as that is the only place making lithium iron phosphate cells right now. We only use UL listed cells and our pack is listed UL2054 by a US battery test lab. By Battle Born Batteries SELLER on July 3, 2018" _____________________________________________________________________ I looked into the temp range of BBorn batteries some time ago. The FAQ is still on their site. They sell a heating wrap that turns on at 24*F and runs up to 40 iirc. "Battle Born Batteries protect themselves from charging in cold temperatures and won’t accept a charge once the internal cell temperature drops to 24°F. At this point they will continue to discharge even down to -4°F. At this temperature we recommend no longer pulling power to avoid damaging the batteries. Insulated battery boxes, heating blankets, and placing your battery bank inside your RV will help keep the temperature stable. On the high end of temperature range, the batteries will shut down once 135°F is reached. "
  5. Really high inflation makes for interesting times. I remember January 1980. I got a conventional 30-year mortgage with 26% down. I was so happy that I got my first house before the rates went up. My mortgage was only 12.75%. Then they shot up to 17%-18%. Our Medicare premiums went up so far this year that the 5.9% COL increase resulted in a monthly loss for each of us. Oh well. We'll have to do our part to keep the economy running anyway. My wife started today. Third grandchild on the way.
  6. The clamp swivels. I have one on each seat pole in my 1648. Holds a 12 oz. or 16 oz. bottle, or a one liter bottle. I used to keep one on my old riding mower and it never came loose or lost a drink. I don't need it now on my 50" Toro zero turn. www.drink2go.com/products/boat-cup-holder And they have a 2 for $28.99 option. "Fits Motorcycles, Walkers, Bicycles, Strollers, Boats - Flex-Fits Cup Sizes - 360 Swivel Head & Non-Slip Clamp for Heavy Drinks – Bike Motorcycle Drink Holder Digging for water bottles at stop lights can be stressful & unsuccessful. Our powerful holders clamp anywhere keep drinks safely accessible. WHAT CAN THIS CLAMP ONTO? The non-slip clamp fits any tubing from 5/8” to 1 ¾”. The adjustable “screw then clamp” design makes versatile while still locking in strong."
  7. The first time I did an install using the Minn Kota chart I measured from the battery in the stern to the motor on the bow. The second time I did an install the Minn Kota repair shop in this area pointed out to me that there is small print under the chart... "Wire Extension Length refers to the distance from the batteries to the trolling motor leads."
  8. Okay, this week's bogus text message deal is BOOYAH Boo Rig for only $0.50. Retail price: $6.99. That's right, only 50 cents. $4.95 flat rate shipping. How many should I get? No mention of weight or color or anything, just how many do I want.
  9. I wore progressives for many, many years - until I had cataract surgery and now I can drive without glasses. But I use $9 reading glasses from Dollar General. Fwiw, I was approximately 20/1200 and could only focus out to 8 inches or so. Progressives worked for me. Progressives frequently drive new users crazy until they learn to use them. For instance, when driving you will probably have to lift your head slightly up and to the right to use the rearview mirror. If you don't you'll be looking through the wrong part of the lens - the right edge. You will quickly learn that the useful part of the lens is a narrow part running vertically in the center of the lens. Look through the top for distance and near the bottom for up close. The medium distances are seen by slightly lowering or raising your head a mere fraction of an inch. Think in terms of thousandths. Be careful on stairs at first. If you get to the top of stairs and glance down you'll be looking through the near-vision part of the lens. Just little things to be aware of and learn about. It becomes second nature if you stick with it for a week or a month. Quite a few people try progressives for 30 minutes or an hour and toss them in a drawer while cursing. Give them a chance.
  10. I remember back in the '50s when businessmen would visit the barber every week or two. Of course their haircuts were pretty much left over from their WWII service and got shaggy fast. Haircuts and shoe shines. Those were the days. Vitalis and Brylcreem. And Wildroot. It was a big deal when I got big enough to graduate from mom taking me to the kids' barbershop to my father taking me to the real barbershop. The straight razors and bloody nicks took some getting used to.
  11. "A barber charging $40, much less $50 to cut a man's hair?" I go to one of those places once a month. A sign in her window says, "WE FIX $15 HAIRCUTS." ?
  12. I have a plastic Garmin screen cover for my 9" Vivid. It easily fits in an old padded laptop case (the 5' or 6" wide kind) with the RAM ball mount base still attached. The medium double socket arm fits in the other side of the bag. The shoulder strap is handy for the trip from the truck into the house.
  13. I've been using two of these for the past 5 years. They're cheap, light, snap together, and don't cost as much as the sturdier wooden racks. You can also split the halves and wall mount them. www.walleyetacklestore.com/okuma-fishing-tackle-rr-b1-rod-rack/ Appears to be the same as this one www.amazon.com/Vexan-Super-Fishing-Rod-Rack/dp/B01BE5K08Q/ref=asc_df_B01BE5K08Q/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312065559007&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2656394903932463497&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008466&hvtargid=pla-569483912589&psc=1
  14. Silver. Chartreuse silver flake.
  15. Bank and boat? I thought this was going to be about boat loans. I have no idea where most fish are caught. I know I catch more using a boat.
  16. I've never used them, but I'm glad Wells Fargo has treated someone well. Their track record is horrible. (Come to think of it, I did pay off my wife's mortgage after we got married in '18 and was very happy WF didn't lose my money or foul up the paperwork.) From CNBC - Wells Fargo has paid more than $4 billion in penalties since its 2016 fake accounts scandal was uncovered.Sep 9, 2021
  17. I finally got a stainless hook remover for those days when the hemostat, needlenose and shark hook remover won't work for me. Good on the beach, too.
  18. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
  19. "Ever hand your card to a waiter and have it taken to the back room? Probably more risk than dealing with reliable vendors on line. " Sure have and had the bogus charge on my account 2 days later. Recently had my Suntrust card charged with almost $5000 by the Jamaica Custom Agency or somesuch nonsense. Bank caught it same day. I'm not new to compromised bank cards. I have always been notified of the breach as soon as they knew; if I didn't catch it first. This is a different situation. They lost 1.8 million customers' info and didn't do much for the customers in a timely manner that I can see. TW notified me a week shy of 3 months later that my personal info and credit card info had been exposed. The government of the state of Vermont (and other states as well) knew about the security breach before TW sent me an email a couple of days ago. https://ago.vermont.gov/blog/category/security-breaches/ https://ago.vermont.gov/blog/2021/12/16/tackle-warehouse-data-breach-notice-to-consumers/
  20. I'd call them. I know some 24v Minn Kotas can be run on 12v. "It depends on the model of motor. For a cable steer or hand controlled model this will not hurt the motor, but it will considerably affect the performance of the motor. However, an electric steer motor, such as, the PowerDrive, Terrova, or Ulterra cannot be used on lower voltages. " www.minnkotamotors.com/support/faqs/can-i-run-my-24-volt-motor-12-volts
  21. "Looking at some other forums it seems the stolen card #s were still being used as of Dec 9th. Latest claim I've found anyways, and I didn't look very hard. " Last Sunday for me. 12/19/21
  22. I just found this with google. Guess I better change my password, too. Dated 12/17/21 "Credit card info of 1.8 million people stolen from sports gear sites" www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/credit-card-info-of-18-million-people-stolen-from-sports-gear-sites/ "The details that have been compromised as a result of this incident are the following: Full name Financial account number Credit card number (with CVV) Debit card number (with CVV) Website account password"
  23. "There was a data breach and a lot of TW's customers " And they just got around to telling me by mailing list email. They've known since at least 11/29. I received an email yesterday from IDX security regarding my credit card and personal info being hacked at Tacklewarehouse. 10/15/21 - TW became aware of potential data security incident. On 11/6/21 they determined payment card info was obtained on 10/1/21. On 11/29/21 they determined my info may have been affected during the incident. May have involved my name, address, payment card number (shows last 4 digits), exp dat/e and security code. And I get an email on 12/23/21 ????????????????????????????????????????????? Did they lose my number and email? Did I get too many free t-shirts or something? What the heck? I'm still cleaning up my automatic payment settings, because yes, fraudulent charges were recently made on that card and it was closed. I could have closed it almost a month ago and avoided the hassle. Jeez.
  24. I hear good things about the Battle line from saltwater fishing friends. My Penn SS - 440, 460, 4400 ss and ssg - reels are long retired. I started retiring them when I bought my first Shimano Triton Baitrunner 4500 in the '80s and then bought a 3500 and 6500. Now my surf spinning reels are Daiwa and Shimano. The PENN Z is "Made in USA of domestic and imported components" www.pennfishing.com/products/z-series-spinning-1315424
  25. "Can't catch em if ya ain't on the water!" So true. The best advice I ever received, back in the '70s: Me - When's the best time to fish? Them - When you can. Second best, also in the '70s and about bass fishing: Me - What's the best color? Them - Chartreuse. And black for worms.
